I Love The Night - Blue Öyster Cult (1977) HD Audio & Video

- "I Love the Night" was released on Blue Oyster Cult's fifth studio album, Spectres, in the winter of 1977. The record received some lackluster reviews at the time of release, mainly due to the fact that the band had turned away somewhat from the classic sound and dark, indecipherable lyrics towards a more pop rock sound. (Their next studio album, 1979's Mirrors, usually receives the brunt of the criticism for the more single orientated change in course, but it really started here on Spectres.) I'm a huge fan of both the dark earlier work and the later stuff....and it does seem that time has tempered the disdain some critics and fans had for both some of these mid period albums....and the true BOC fans love it all! :-)
This is an update to an old BOC video that wasn't too bad as the early ones go, but a few weeks ago, a fan suggested I give it an update and I thought that sounded like a good idea and a way to delay working on something new. ;-) There were a few pretty grim bits that have now been replaced with relatively less grim bits. The audio is taken from 96KHz/24bit FLAC from the newest remasters....which are very nice indeed. Hope you enjoy the vid, and of course....what's not to like about this glorious tune? Thanks to old friends and new for watching and keeping my hobby going. Stay safe all.
The 2012 Blue Oyster Cult boxset (The Complete Columbia Albums Collection (17 Disc Box Set)....is an absolutely stunning remaster of all BOC's albums, and if you are a fan of this band you really owe it to yourself to hear these albums for the first time.....this music has never sounded so fantastic! (Well, since vinyl days that is!)
I've created many vids for Blue Oyster Cult tracks, including ("The Vigil", "Godzilla", "Nosferatu", "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Morning Final" and several others...check 'em if you're so inclined.
[Lyrics]
That night her kiss told me it was over
I walked out late into the dark
The misty gloom seems to soak up my sorrow
The further I went on
I felt a spreading calm
Then suddenly my eyes were bathed in light
And the lovely lady in white was by my side
She said "Like me I see you're walking alone
Won't you please stay?"
I couldn't look away
She said
I love the night
The day is OK and the sun can be fun but I live
To see those rays slip away
I love the night
There's so much I can show and give to you
If you will welcome me tonight
If only you had been there my dear
We could have shared this together
No mortal was meant to know such wonder
One look in the mirror told me so
Come darkness I'll see her again
Yes I'm gonna go
'Cause now I know
I love the night
The day is OK and the sun can be fun but I live
To see those rays slip away
I love the night
I love the night
I love the night - Hudba
You are truly a master at this...
I'm very happy you've enjoyed some of the things I've done. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. With so few views it's sometimes hard to motivate....your words of support mean alot. Stay safe!
@@MetalGuruMessiah Thanks, you know i had never heard this before until one day i was going thru your work and played this and was blown away., Looked into the song fantastic story . You know what is a under rated song they have done is off of the live "Some Enchanted Evening" they do a remake of the Animal's " We gotta get out of this place " I used to sell high end Audio in the late 70's and i remember listening to that on a pair of Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater speakers and it was truly amazing. Not sure if you have heard that but i am guessing you have.. stay safe yourself.. the videos as well as the music are truly a work of art and a labor of love ,there is no other channel that offers the creativity and quality of sound that you do, believe i have many that i check out. Every time you post something i check it out first thing. Keep them coming it is helpful to us music fans.
Back in '82 I had to get up every morning at 5am for swim team. This played on my radio alarm one morning. Can't explain but the comfort was almost overwhelming.
Boy, this song brings back a rush of emotions and memories. I was in my late teens and was with a very dysfunctional chick. I met a wonderful, beautiful and kind lady and, as was written in the stars, my GF left me and she was there to help me pick up the pieces. We fell in love and loved with a force that has perhaps been unparalleled in the annals of time. This quickly became 'our' song. Two years later we were married and all was right with the world! Sadly, just after our first anniversary, Jen was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma which is a deadly form of musculoskeletal cancer. She passed away one week before our second wedding anniversary. I still miss her, but with each passing year that I live without her, it's one year closer to when we'll be together again.
Should have gotten back with your first love
😪

I can see here my 'like' but not a comment, probably I went to recall the old video-version. A favorite track anyway, always a pleasure to listen to it!

Not extremely masculine but "I've got goosebumps man!" Fantastic! Thanks for your time and effort in all your fan videos!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A masterpiece. The original guys were amazing way better than stones zeppelin ect three amazing masterpieces mirrors agents spectras. Then before. Songs that were amazing last days astronomy cities. Fire of unknown origin was almost as good many great songs burning Joan sole survivor But the original guys were a special group all could write and play. Lightning struck once and it was once in a lifetime occurrence
I sure hope it’s not a “once in a lifetime” thing….I want to hear hungry bands repeat history
Thanks for your great works!
Glad you like them!
Thanks a lot!!
You're welcome! Thanks for visiting and commenting!
@@MetalGuruMessiah Saludos désde México City. Greetings From México City. And Thanks For Your Work.
Great Job Dude
The Mirrors album cover at 2:19 Very cool.
Very nice to get this in good audio quality, thanks.
You're welcome n thanks for watching!
Thanks again MGM! The more I listen to it the more I notice the sound quality is top notch. West Coast Sunsets are the best over the Pacific. East coast sun over the Atlantic is always a morning thing. Not into those much.
My pleasure Gary! Thanks for checking it and for the comment.
Yeah 👍...i like this
I would have loved to see this vid more retro or fantasy, kinda like what you did for Don't Fear The Reaper, medieval/fantasy is really only thing that would match this song.
Nicely done! I concur with your thoughts on the catalog. I'd like to see you tackle "Damaged"
Great suggestion! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
That lady comes in lines
Recorded at Shooting Shark level. How the hell?
eh where the white girls at
My favorite BOC song!
