- We bought our John Deere 4105 Utility Tractor when we purchased our new ranch. After one year of work, using the tractor for land and property restoration, and in many other ways, I thought it would be helpful to share the experience for those considering the purchase of a tractor or for those considering the purchase of a John Deere 4105.

I have the same tractor. Beware of John Deere salesman not very knowledgeable. You can get rear hydraulics (I have 3rd spool on rear) I told him I wanted to set up like that was informed I can’t be done, but it came complete on my model same thing with the joystick controls for the front end. I had to show the salesman how to set it up.
You would love a 4066

You can tighten the lever so it will stay where you set it. If I remember right, there is a bolt in the center of the shaft that the lever attaches to that adjusts the amount of friction to keep the setting you chose. Same with the throttle, but takes more work to get to.

You should have a dip stick just to the left of your PTO on the back side of the tractor. Likely a yellow handle, if Jon Deere.
