This interview dates from around 1989, when Laughter came out. I saw the Mighty Lemon Drops live doing a brief showcase
set on LI at Malibu Night Club, for WLIR radio, along with two other bands, and one was Happy Mondays. Each band only did
maybe six songs. The single Where Do We Go From Heaven? did pretty well locally on college radio and WLIR FM, etc. I think
that album sold ok. Sadly, not so much the next two for Sire, and the band called it a day by late 1992 or 1993 or so after
Ricochet. I"m a huge fan of MLD but sadly never saw them do a full live show. I recently purchased the new MLD box set
from Cherry Red, which is a must-own, as is the older Uptight Cherry Red rarities compilation. A lot of fans in America
got to see them open a few years earlier for Love and Rockets, which brought them a lot of attention. It must be said
that their sound and approach changed markedly by the time Tony Linehan left, and i think later on the songwriting
suffered somewhat, or got more generic, somehow. I prefer all the early material and World Without End, and this
album Laughter, to the last few LPs. The last few LPs aren't included in the new box set, though it would have been
    nice to have Laughter included.
