- Niclas Huschenbeth showed some scintillating preparation at the first round of the FIDE Grand Swiss 2023. Huschenbeth beat David Navara by showing 29 moves of theory on the board! How was he so well prepared? Turns out that Huschenbeth has been working as a second of Hikaru Nakamura for several years now! The German GM also is a CZcamsr with his channel having over a 100,000 followers and also has his own video platform called Chessence. We speak with Huschenbeth after the game and he shows us some very instructive lines.

We can be proud of players like Keymer and Huschenbeth represent Germany. Humble, well-mannered and good in their Sport,
Niclas came to upset some apple carts! What a great opportunity for him to increase his ELO rating.
I was outplaying him in an online blitz game but then I blundered a backrank mate
How is this guy so strong in classical but only 2500 on blitz ?
Because blitz is not about playing well but more about managing time, using cheap tricks under time pressure and so on. On the other hand if you are not trained to play so fast you will blunder more often under time pressure (that's what happens to him)
First
toh?
😂
