You already commented on the title track a while ago. As for this track, Frida sings here as well and beautifully as an angel should sound. A song where you hear the time of life ticking away and takes you back to the nostalgia of the past. One of ABBA's most beautiful songs ever made!

To someone who appreciates a great vocalist, Like an Angel, might be up there among ABBA's best. So soothing and with angelic high notes. It's only Frida on this one. You sittl have 10 or 15 Frida leads to go including a totally different side of her ,where she belts it out in "I wonder". She is the most versatile of the two women. That doesn't mean she's the best. ABBA fans only seem to get grumpy when debating who's the best singer and who's the best looking.

One main interpritation of this is the singer is dying and images of her life come back to her and the angel passing through the room is death. If you listen to the end when the clock stops is when the singer passes.

Serene and beautiful vocal performance by Frida and great way to end this album The Visitors. At this time I was intrigued and excited this new direction ABBA were taking and couldn't wait for the next album. for which they already had a few songs finished for....But unfortunately they took a break and never came back to finish the next album, a long break of 40 yrs until Voyage album. BUT something unexpected happened in the early decade of the '90's: The ABBA Revival explosion ! Two worldwide hit comedy movies from Australia featuring Abba music as the soundtrack: Muriel's Wedding and
Pricilla Queen Of The Desert ( you must watch these movies sometime Chase !). The most successful music tribute band Bjorn Again (Abba) toured the world. The electronic pop duo Erasure released an EP of their rendition of a few Abba songs. A new Swedish electronic dance pop group similar to Abba
called ACE OF BASE went number one worldwide with hits like "All That She Wants" and "The Sign" producing several albums throughout the '90's. Also a Swedish teen pop group covered Abba songs with a group title A*TEENS. ABBA then released a four cd compilation set with final track called Abba Undeleted, a tightly sown together of partial unfinished and unreleased works captured in their music studio, containing many snippets of songs their fans worldwide wished the band had finished. Pasting the link here for you to listen and react to: czcams.com/video/NUfAzxBKvLA/video.html
Then came ABBA GOLD, now one of music's most popular hit compilations, over 25 X platinum. The Mama Mia musical and eventually two movies of Mama Mia (and soon to be a third movie in which Cher reprises her role) WOW ! there has been more ABBA over the decades then when they were actually together as a band in the '70's ! And the revival that begun in the '90's still rolling on. Amazing ! Cheers Chase !

    Hello Chase!
If this song reminds you of a lullaby, it's because it comes from 'Twinkle twinkle little star...'.
You can see part of the work done to reach this version in:
"From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel (Demo Medley)"... It's a little long, but I think it's worth it. It includes various versions, even with Björn leading.
Take care, Chase...see you soon ✌️.
    Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍

Yes it does have a dream like quality to it. Fridas vocals are amazing. Though all the songs on the album are great. fridas other stand out vocal moment is on the albums title track 'The Visitors'. It is SO different to thiis one it will blow your mind. At the new show/concert in London they include it, as the song had not been released when they toured last in 1979. live they really ramp up the bass giving it a real techno rock beat that has you head banging like a heavy metal fan.

The Visitors and Head Over Heels are both from this album. Under Attack is included in later versions of it too but not in the original album back in the day. Exquisite song, and my very favourite by ABBA (which means it's at the top of a very tall pile!)...It's elegaic to the point of being funereal. And I always love such songs:
    Eve (Carpenters)
    Bright Eyes (Art Garfunkel)
    Round Midnight (Linda Ronstadt)
    Vincent (Don McLean)
    Goodnight My Angel (Billy Joel)
The Sand And The Foam (Dan Fogelberg)
Time In A Bottle (Jim Croce)
Far Away Places (Second Chapter of Acts)
    Kathy's Song (Simon and Garfunkel)
At least one other song from this album you reacted to, Chase, I recall distinctly as being a fan-made video accompanying the studio audio. This was their last album (until recently), and though the video era was dawning, ABBA were on the way out, so there's lots of "audio only" on YT from it.

  • @tomnoziglia8385

Great reaction Chase. You have reacted to the songs Head over Heels and The Visitors from this Album. This is the last track off the album with Frida singing lead, and is the only ABBA song which is "solo" - with no Agnetha or Bjorn backup. Two other songs from this Album I recommend are "When All is Said and Done" (Frida lead - the official music video) and "Soldiers" (Agnetha lead, no official music video was made). This is the perfect Swedish lullaby as parts of Sweden experience weeks of darkness in the winter months.

But YES, Chase, you DID react to two songs of "The Visitors" before - to the title track which you called very unusual ("The Visitors" - you saw the album cover already back then) and to "One Of Us" which you reacted the vide to. "The Visitors" is the darkest ABBA album, I think, but nonetheless very beautiful and introspective. Unfortunately you talked over the entire beginning of the song which is the same ticking of the clock like at the end but should have prepared you for the song ;-)

** This was apparently a protest song against the persecution of political dissidents during the Soviet era **. In 1982, the album 'The Visitors' was banned in the USSR !
** Further to my original comment above I would like to add that the song "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" has subtle references in the lyrics to fear and paranoia that was common during the Cold War i.e. "I am alone" , "peaceful solitude" , "All the outside world subdued" , "Playing games within my mind". 😰

    Honesty...
these is one of a few ABBA songs
    that I don't like so much (5pts)
it's only Frida with her great voice, but alone ,
without chorus .... and I like so much ABBA chorus
I know that The Visitors album (1981) is experimental,
but in these album I prefer other songs, like :
    Slipping through my fingers
One of us , The Visitors ,
I see you in next ABBA vídeo
