- 👉Learn how to solve a system of equations by substitution. To solve a system of equations means to obtain a common values of the variables that makes the each of the equation in the system true. To solve a system of equations by substitution, we solve for one of the variables in one of the equations and then substitute for the variable in the other equation and then solve for the other variable. Next we plug in the obtained value of the other variable into the equation for the initial variable we solved for to obtain the value of the variable.
The value of the two variables obtained is the solution to the system of equations.

I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been struggling with this and I’m currently failing. Everyone including to teachers ive talked to doesn’t help. I get confused but that just made sense to me. You didn’t sugar coat it, you just got straight into it and kept it clean and simple

Thanks Brian! I took a test recently and didn’t do very well because I forgot how to do substitution during the test. Thankfully my teacher is giving me the opportunity to fix some of the problems I had and this video helped a lot. Will definitely be coming to this channel more often.

thanks McLogan, this lesson helped me learn 1 part of what I missed the past 2 weeks of. All I needed was 5 minutes and that's it. Now I just gotta find out how to correctly do elimination.
For everyone being confused about how he got +4 when he took away 2x, he already had a positive 4 on the right side so when he moved the 2x over he decided to have the -2x in front of the 4 making it -2x + 4 because you have to bring down the 4. Hope it helps
