I hurt for my son who has Aspergers, he was bullied at school, we spoke to teachers and the principal and got nowhere; it got to the point where my husband and I went to the principal again and said that we were going to involve the police that they took notice, they found out that his whole class would surround him at lunch push ,hit, kick him until he lost his temper which they thought was funny. All my son wanted was to be 'normal' and excepted. He turns 23years old today, and he is as amazing as ever, he has learnt to stand up for himself, (though I am right there if he needs someone to lean on.) If you reading this are on the spectrum, let me point something out, I am now 53 years old and have never met a "normal' person, we are all so wonderfully unique, own it, own who you are and be the best version of yourself that you can be.

To this day I am very grateful for those who stood up for me, and I keep them in my prayers always in return for their kindness.

This story completely relates to me. I am about Sean's age and was diagnosed with Asperger's at age 1. However, I was happily not bullied very much although I felt very alone throughout school. I am lucky to be extremely well-coordinated and able to play sports at a very high level. But I can totally relate, because I still don't have very many friends. That doesn't really bother me though. As my mom always tells me, "There isn't any second of the day that you fail to surpass expectations."

it's so typical to have a panel of normies talking about what needs to change re:Autism. How about we ask the Autists. nothing much has changed in this regard
