and J.R. was never really interested in Cliff to begin with... he only cared about Ewing Oil... but Cliff kept messing with him and going after him even to the point of having an affaire with his wife...
it's only obvious that J.R. was gonna react to his attacks...
the whole feud was always a Barnes-generated hatred...
the Ewings always had bigger things to worry about and more important things to take care of...
the Barnes only lived to hate the Ewings... that's why none of them ever had a life...
If you watch the original from the beginning Jock did do dig a wrong. He never gave him his fair share of the business.
If he didn't want to have dig a drink all his money away he could have put the money in a separate broker account where they couldn't get to it until he's sobered up but what he did was he took the money.
He would never have been successful without bigger doing what he did. Digger was the one that scouted out the oil so without digger jock would have never found the oil.
Chuck Ewing cheated Digger Barnes out of his fair share and although I would never have done things the way Cliff did it he was perfectly within his rights to fight the Ewings for the share they stole from Digger
@cassandracarter8815 check out this movie "Dallas The Early Years" a prequel to the Dallas tv show and later when Cliff tried to help this guy Dandy who reminded him of Digger his daddy later Dandy tried to shoot Cliff thinking Cliff ripped him off he and Dandy buried the hatchet. Later Cliff had a talk with Miss Ellie, she told him that Jock wanted so bad to help Digger but Digger never listened
We need a proper goodbye!!!! At least bring it back for one more season to finish it off right. This show kept me on my feet every week can't believe it was canceled

Couldn’t agree more! But so many of the cast have moved on and gotten older so the odds of it happening are dead and gone sadly

This was a great set up for season 4. The Barnes-Ewing feud will NEVER end. It will continue through Pamela Jr. and her children ad infinitum.
I take great joy in seeing John Ross upset and hurting. 😅

yes it's true digger was a drunk, and jock didn't steal from digger , but the Barnes family has been brought up to believe that digger was cheated out of what belonged to him.
The truth was always murky re: Jock and Digger. It wasn't until after Jim Davis (Jock) died that Jock was retconned into some kind of hero. Prior to that, Jock was savvy and may/may not have exploited/took advantage of Digger and screwed him out of Ewing Oil.

The Barnes/Ewing feud was the whole driving force behind the original series. If everybody got along, it would make for a pretty boring show.
This could be the ending Dallas fans deserved if the series isn't focused much on J.R. (RIP) even after his death.

The only thing that bugs me is Bobby having control of the company and the fact he and Sue Ellen lied about Pamela being involved in this back and forth when it was him and John Ross (and Sue Ellen) doing that with the company. Sue Ellen however seems to regret doing this though once she realized all she did was push her son away more.
Yes all three of these people including that Bitch Pamela did all of this, However; I see no form of regret from Sue Ellen, if there is; she knows what she did, she just doesn't care.

She seemed to care after John Ross told her he was worst then his father. Also how did Pamela do anything? She didn't even get involved with the trying to take the company for herself until after Bobby, John Ross and Sue Ellen's pissing contest caused it to be lost. Bobby and Sue Ellen were the least deserving for having control of this company.

I hated that of all of the traits of JR to give John Ross, they gave him cheating. Not only that but with the exception of rescuing Emma, everything that John Ross did blew up in his fave. I liked John Ross and Pamela until the writers ruined it with his affair with Emma.
Not only that but rewriting history. Jock did not cheat Digger. Digger was drunk and a fool and when Jock tried to reason with him, Digger got violent.
I hated the Ramos family and the Mexican cartel and that the Ewings were secondary characters on their own show.

absolutely correct about Digger messing up but from the Barnes family point of view....Digger, then Cliff, then Pamela...Jock and the Ewings were in the wrong.
J.R. kept his composure and found humor in situations. He didn't react right away, he pondered on it for a day. J.R wouldn't be crying in an elevator like Cliff Barnes. Just alot of more dark energy with this reboot.
well in the final episode of the original series, JR contemplated killing himself after losing Ewing Oil for a second time
@@radrobd123this and John Ross isn't JR. He's a much Sue Ellen's son and Bobby's nephew as he is JR's son. I think he fits the model of the son that wants to grow up and be just like his daddy all too well. Often times, Boys that want to be just like daddy in every way end up the least like their fathers or, at the very least, a horrible Xerox of them. John Ross, with all of his JR qualities, often came off as being with odds with himself. JR always seemed happy, John Ross always seems like he's masking the pain with pleasure.

No, the twins were considered "Knots" characters and David Jacobs owned those characters and wouldn't allow them on the new Dallas

They totally destroyed this once great show. Where to start. The Ramos Family, the Mexican Cartel, turning Cliff Barnes into a monster.
JR's son and Cliff's daughter was enough drama without them turning him into a cheater like JR was. Instead of the Ramos family taking over the show, Elena could have been JR's daughter with one of his mistresses from the original like Katherine Wentworth. There were also possibilites with Emma as well. Everything John Ross did blew up in his face and Pamela Rebecca's nastiness was tiresome and make no sense.
Overall, the actors were wasted.
The Ramos family didn't "take over" the show. Elena was one of the major characters. Her mother was a secondary character.
Cliff was a monster in the original. He was a nasty piece of work a lot of the time. He treated Afton disgracefully. Only he was more of a loser in the original and lost against JR mostly which neutered him. The TNT character is a good representation of how Cliff would have been with power and money.
Dallas was destroyed in the last 3 series of the original when they turned JR into a loser who didn't even have any decent one liners anymore. The final series he spent being walked over.
