People on here are so filled with hate. Whoopi does not hate Sunny. People seemed to miss the part where Abby made a comment about how Sunny’s son may act wild in college and Whoopi came to her defense coz she knows he’s being raised well. Whoopi respects Sunny and they have this banter where she’s always teasing her. It’s also good for the show and often provides comedic relief. People also need to give Sunny some credit. She’s a bold woman who wouldn’t tolerate being bullied by a co-worker. You all just need to chill

I was told by my son's principal (for the only issue Ive ever talked to her in 2 years) that we as adults cannot "remove all obstacles for our children".
What the meeting was about, was another 6 year old gave my 6 year old a note, in class, that read "you should die now".
My son gave the note to his teacher, freaked out. And the teacher took the note, looked at it and put it on the desk.
Nothing was done and class went on as usual for the day. Once I heard about what happened (when my son told me after school) I flipped. Why did the teacher not intervene?! What about the anti-bullying policies posted everywhere?!
The school tried to make the issue as small as possible, and told me I needed to let them figure it out. I said I would not let my son back into class until the kid was switched classes.
He moved classes 10 days later -- my son missed 10 days of 1st grade because of this.
I just hope things like this aren't meshed into these stories. Because children are becoming more aggressive, more impulsive, and parents are more absent.

I am a millennial who grew up in the 90s. That was the era of play dates which is an example of Helicopter Parenting. Arrange things for kids to stay in doors and play video games under adult supervision instead of running around outside until it was too dark to see. Bulldozer Parents are the ones we have now 20 years later in the 2010s. They are the ones who go further and provide this constant validation to kids who suffer from anxiety because they can't keep up with the fast moving changes in the world with media and technology. Most people don't understand the difference of millennials and Gen Z. They just lump us all into one category because we are under the age of 35. The upbringings are completely different based on access to things and the way parents raise kids.

Megan, you probably had secret service, your family also had a lot of money, so you probably were at risk for a ransom threat, but doubt you were at the playground at 8 for hours without supervision. Kids used to be gone for hours out in the neighbor, playing, riding bikes, no cell phones, you came in when street lights came on. On weekends you showed up for lunch as you were getting hungry. This was even in the 80s. Until 24/7 news was broadcasting every childhood abduction, few parents watched their kids every second.

True. Our parents didn't have to worry so much because everyone knew everyone and people wouldn't hesitate to go to your parent and say, "I saw such and such do this". Nowadays people have the it's not my business approach. So, it is up to the parent to keep a tighter hold on their kiddos to keep them safe. I always told my daughter I had eyes and ears everywhere. I was self employed so I took my daughter to work with me until she started school, then she was in my shop after school so, everyone knew who she was. She learned I did have eyes and ears everywhere. Someone, stopped us to inform me they saw my daughter driving and wanted to let me know what a good driver she was. First people are upset that parents are not involved and then people are upset that parents are too involved? There is no perfect parent. When u become a parent the child does not come with a rule book. An overprotective parent is just a sign that they love that child. There is nothing wrong with that. A child that grows up to feel entitled has nothing to do with a parents love but everything to do with the childs personality and choices they make. A child can be raised by two loving parents and can become a drug addict. And a child can be raised homeless and become a Harvard grad. Each individual is responsible for their own lives. The blame for entitlement lies entirely on the individual.

The Lateral Cortex of the brain doesn't grow in until boys are around 24-25 yrs, girls around 18-19. Its the part of the brain that makes one think about the consequences of one's actions before one does something. I know, I raised 3 sons.

Over protecting creates insequerity, anxiety, lack of confidence in a child. Results can be as traumatizing as any other abuse. I did it (didn't know better) and my adult kids could fill you in on the negative consequnces. Try to be balanced.

My daughter just started school and the teachers literally have to kick me off school grounds because I won’t leave until the bell goes and I see her line up and get into class. I feel horrible that I do that but then the next day I’m there once again.

I grew up in Norway and we stayed out all day playing without parents, and I was allowed to go swimming alone with my friends when I was like ten or eleven. But we don’t let sixteen-year-olds drive a car. You have to be 18 and you have to do all these things that other countries don’t ask you to do. I had to drive a car on an isolated road with oil on it, while foam animals and people were pulled out in front of me! But I don’t think we should change our rules because I knew when I passed my driving test that I was ready!
