    With cloudtecphase it makes sense to first go for light terrain.
    It would work really different for difficult terrain,
    I am more interested in the cloud horizon, hopefully a nice upgrade from the cloudWander.
    My cloudwanders eventually got loose at the foodwidth,
    Hoping foodwidth it's good for me,
    Because all kind of waterproof versions seem to have it snug, (pinched)
    So I get sweaty.
    Gonna get the cloudpulse for the gym,
    And considering cloud horizon,
    But that might be after reviews and some questions to on running about width.

      Those are hiking shoes though, and have much stiffer rides.

    My misses has the cloud surfer trail waterproof and doesn’t get on with them. She likes the sole, but gets a mark/bruise where the lower lace stitching hits the top of her foot. She also says although these are the first waterproof running shoes she owns, it’s the first time her feet end up wet….. from sweat! She’s disappointed with them of course.

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před měsícem +1

      I haven’t had any experience with the waterproof version of these but any waterproof shoe being worn on a hot summers day with undoubtedly make your feet sweat. The very nature of blocking water from the outside makes them not breathable. You need an upper that is breathable to allow heat to escape the shoe, and hence reduce the chance of sweaty feet.

    If you had to choose between Speed Goat 5 and Cloud Surfer for a competition or practice, what would you pick?

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 17 dny

      Speedgoat 5 or 6 for sure

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 17 dny

      The cloudsurfer trail is a road to trail shoe so it’s not for technical terrain, and it’s not as stable due to the plush cushioning in the midsole.

    Is it good for running on asphalt? To be honest, I like the colorway and will probably use them more often on asphalt roads than on mud and rocks.

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yeah they will work well on asphalt. They’re super cushioned- you may just experience faster wear on the outsole as it’s a more sticky rubber designed for trails with deeper lugs than road shoes 👍🏼

  • @alredalred
    @alredalred Před 6 měsíci +1

    Are they roomy like a lot of the newer On shoes? I have a wide foot and it's been nice having another brand that works besides New Balance.

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 6 měsíci

      They’re medium width with space for slightly wider feet, depending on how wide your feet are they may work for you. They’re certainly not as wide as the Cloudmonster 2.

    @user-hf6vd8oz7d Před 17 dny

    What's the size with Cloud Monster?! Is it the same?
    Is it suitable for trail running around 24k?!

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 17 dny

      The cloudmonster 2 has a larger fit over all, a bit wider too and that one is suitable for 24k too

    These or the Cloudultra 2 for trail only? Great video

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 6 měsíci +1

      For trail only, the cloudultra 2 - it’s more solid for technical terrain whereas this one is good for road and light trails.

    Which one you recommend. I work in a ferris wheel doing maintenance work, and also interacting with people, I walk like 10,000 steps at least, and I'm between this, the cloud 5, and the cloudtilt. Help 😢

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před měsícem +2

      The cloudsurfer trail is really nicely cushioned and has great traction - so if you’re big on cushioning underfoot then go with them. The Cloud 5 is an awesome everyday shoe as well but it’s a bit firmer - I love it because of how well they slip on but also they look quite stylish. The Cloudtilt I haven’t tested yet but on paper it should be a bit of a mix between the two in terms of feel.

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 11 dny

      I ran in quite a bit of mud in these. I don’t tend to clean off my trail shoes unless they’re totally covered in mud

    I am looking for an ON shoe to train for a 100 km hike within 24 hours on flat terrain (mainly asphalt). Which ON shoe would you recommend? I am in doupt between the Cloudsurfer Trail Waterproof and the Cloudvista Waterproof. Because the waterproof feature of both shoes is a very welcome feature. Thanks in advance for the advice!

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 5 měsíci

      I’d recommend the cloudsurfer trail over the cloudvista. It’s a much softer enjoyable shoe for hiking on mainly asphalt

    Did you find mud getting wedged in the holes of the soles?

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 3 měsíci +1

      No because the holes compress when they contact with the ground

    So I am fairly new to trail running, and would like a shoe that I can do short distance trail runs as well as obstacle racing in (spartan race, savage race, tough mudder, etc.) What would be your best recommendations?

    • @trailandkale
      @trailandkale  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hey 👋🏼 for OCR I always recommend a shoe like the Salomon Speedcross. The traction on those are awesome. I used them for a couple of Tough Mudders in the past. You could also try the HOKA Speedgoat 5, it’s what I’d use today if I still did ocr racing. Run a search on trailandkale.com for the speedgoat review, and I think I lost the speedcross under best OCR racing shoes in our best trail running shoes guide.

      @@trailandkaleThank you so much! I am deliberating between the Salamon Speedcross 6, the new Flux Trail Runners (my daily drivers are the adapt runners and I love how they feel) and the Oncloud Cloudventure (considering these after seeing your review of them). I will for sure checkout the Hoka Speedgoats.

    I fell for the hype. They were comfy but not as stable or firm as my speedgoats. Rolled my ankle multiple times with these. Thank god nothing serious. I wouldn’t recommend these for trails.
