  • Dear special friends around the world,
Thank you for visiting today. I have a very special treat for all of you. This is by special permission and I am excited to share with you all something profoundly close to my heart and beneficial for countless beings.
The interesting story of how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme world peace protector is blogged here for your learning pleasure and blessings. He was many great beings in his previous lives prior to arising as the protector Dorje Shugden. In ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’ which is written by His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche clearly reveals how Dorje Shugden arose as a dharma protector. When you understand this historical account, you will realize Dorje Shugden is no ordinary being but a enlightened being manifesting as a supreme protector. This story recounted here in the video and graphic novel are based on the history of how Dorje Shugden arose as a dharma protector according to His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche in ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’. Accuracy here is guaranteed.
‘Music Delighting The Ocean of Protectors’ is a complete volume which explains the practice, lineage, rituals, mandalas, meditations, history and benefits of Dorje Shugden. It includes retreats, how to make tormas, even practices for deeper retreats on this supreme Dorje Shugden. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche personally wrote this text out in order to preserve the practice for future generations.
When Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was killed by the then Tibetan government due to jealousy of his fame, his future incarnations were outlawed and his ladrang (estates) confiscated. His incarnations continued to appear but without his official name and title until present day. All records of him and his written works numbering into many volumes were destroyed as well. His writings and works have been preserved in present day Mongolia. Many lamas have suffered the same fate by the Tibetan government in feudal Tibet. But thanks to the writings of the erudite scholar Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche we have an accurate account of the beginnings of this great protector.
I have sought and received permission to post here and share with the world the incredible history and background of how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme Dharma protector. I thank the people who allowed this.

Hi, Nechung (Pehar Gyalpo) is among other spirit bounded by Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhawa) to protect the Buddha's teaching when Guru Rinpoche was invited to Tibet. Here is a link that categorised/distinguished the nature of Nechung and Lord Dorje Shugden in details www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/nechung-the-retiring-devil-of-tibet.html . I hope you have a good time reading and my best wish to you and everyone around you.

My humble take on it as I am still exploring... Dorje Shugden seems to be an active and powerful dharma protector who is relied on by many Gelug practitioners both historically and modern day. Unfortunately, Dorje Shugden is also historically associated with the persecution (sometimes violent?) of the non-Gelug sects by the Gelugs, especially to the Nyingma. Temples were destroyed, etc. As I understand it, Pabongka Rinpoche a seemingly great lama during the 19th century led this persecution believing Gelugs are the most pure and wholesome and used Dorje Shugden's name often in his cause. This caused a very bad linkage with Dorje Shugden to the persecution that is remembered to this day.
Secondly, Dorje Shugden attributes and practices resemble more of a worldly (unenlightened) dharma protector than an enlightened one at least on the outside. (See wiki for details).
Because of this, the Dalai Lama felt is better for his Gelug community and his people not to worship and be associated with a being that is well remember for the persecution of fellow Tibetans and whose enlightenment is uncertain. This was critically at a time when Tibetans needed to unite the most for their survival. And I think this is the key point to why the Dalai Lama did it.
Sadly, many Gelugs were and are very close to this deity and therefore had to practice in secret. This bottled up energy has over the last few decades spilled out into open protest and conflict with the Dalai Lama. China, of course, sees this as a political opportunity.
I think this is the real story... I get why the Dalai Lama did this. But I also see how close Gelugs are towards Dorje Shugden and how effective and helpful this deity has been.
My question is, there are so many other good Dharma Protectors to choose from. Why cling to Dorje Shugden when this has the potential to split your Sanga. Aren't all enlightened beings the same? And if one aspect, due to human failings becomes associated with negative acts, should it not be the right thing to drop that aspect precisely because all enlightened beings are the same? This is an honest question which don't yet understand.

      @christineso231 Před 7 lety +7

Hello enduril122, thanks for you watching the video. Dorje Shugden is an enlightened Dharma Protector for sure as we can prove that by the past High Gurus such as Pabongka Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche in the Gelug lineage. They could not be wrong in judgement with their extensive knowledge if they did practise DS in their days, right?
Do you think if there are good or bad Enlightened Dharma Protectors? I do not think there are any differences if they do attain enlightenment. DS practitioners do not `cling` to DS, they are just following what their teachers` teachings. Their practices are no doubt the same as what other buddhist practise, no differences. Why do you think this is the `separation`?
Separation is because of the ban on DS practitioners, not the practitioners` fault.

This is a great point. Yet human failings are human. This protector's teachings are important because not everyone is on the same levels and his more "wordly" way can resonate with those who are just coming into the concepts of the Dharma. It can bring people who might not otherwise want to deal with it. It is up to each individual to keep his/her Mind and Heart pure, avoiding compulsion and fanaticism, by employing Compassion and keeping service to others as the primary focus. Not the deity. H. H. the Dalai Lama has never told them *NOT* to practice their beliefs. He merely asked that they not attend *his* teachings. If those who deal with Dorje Shugden refuse to understand that then that is their problem. As the head of the *entire* order His Holiness has the authority to make these decisions and they *should* be respected regardless of how one *feels.* Emotional maturity is a critical aspect of Spiritual growth. And not all who follow this protector have animosity towards His Holiness. And that is something which the Rinpoche's of this protector are responsible for keeping in check.

Hence Dorje Shugden statues the wrathful ones, have eyes growing on their hands. I still think science hasn't reached the level of the things that the Buddha spoke of. For example reincarnation researchers, Dr Brian Weiss and Professor Ian Stevenson documented thousands of cases of reincarnation/rebirth, and doing it using scientific methods. My point here is science, still cannot measure what happens to the consciousness once it leave the previous person's body. So for me science has not developed to a level, that it explain many of the things spoken by Buddha. Science has just not caught up yet.

Tsem RInpoche, or any admins who may answer, I wonder about the Dorje Shugden issues currently unfolding. The Dalai Lama denounces Shugden as a demon, saying the previous masters were wrong. I only have information from the internet, so this may be inaccurate. However Shugden monks and worshippers are being segregated, targeted and oppressed because HH Dalai Lama has said that Shugden is a demon. could anyone explain this perhaps so that I can understand better. I don't worhsip SHugden so this question is just out of curiosity; it seems like much strife is being catalyzed by this Shugden issue.

    • @wanwaimeng

ZionRebirth .Tello Hello, yes there is a lot of discrimination and ban around Dorje Shugden practitioners. And people who are Dorje Shugden worshippers they are forced out of holding a job with the the tibetan government in exile in India. Quite a lot of evidence here www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/definitive-proof-of-the-ban-and-discrimination-against-dorje-shugde/ Out of Tibet you also have many witch hunts like this letter on this facebook account www.facebook.co/ONEvbcm Practitioners and monks do not simply spend their mornings and traveling great distances, braving the weather to protest for no real reason. The Dalai Lama is Chenrezig, and from the 5th Dalai Lama till the 13th Dalai Lama he relied on Dorje Shugden, I mean how can Chenrezig not see between a demon and an enlightened protective protector? If Chenrezig cannot see difference between buddha and demon that means Chenrezig is not enlightened. Not possible, Dalai Lama is the top scholar and enlightened being of this planet. My understanding is that the previous Trijang Rinpoche said that in the future The Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden are at odds with one another and he said do not lose faith in both. In our day and age infamy and controversy spreads faster. So for many of us we think the Dalai Lama is enacting the ban so Dorje Shugden the name and its practice will be known worldlwide and many people will get to practice this great protector. The Dalai Lama is not the defacto head of the Gelugs which is Gaden Tripa, so for the ban to originate from the Dalai Lama is but one of the many inconsistencies of the Dorje Shudgen ban. Other inconsistencies are Dalai Lama allowing Tirjang Rinpoche current incarnation to carry on practicing Dorje Shugden whilst banning others to do the same practice. Trijang Rinpoche previous life is a well known and top Gelug Lama who relied on Dorje Shugden fervently for many lifetimes, and the current Trijang Rinpoche is becoming the rallying point for many Dorje Shugden practitioners in opposing the ban, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that Trijang Rinpoche in the future could be a threat to the ban/discrimination that Dalai Lama was formulating at that time. Hope that helps you :)

Personally-- I am not necessarily Buddhist-- but the way I see it I think we should not focus on politics: people should focus on self-cultivation and spiritual experience. Those who worship Shugden should focus on worship and those who do not worship Shugden should focusing on their own worship. All this scandal and politics I see as detrimental to realization of the Divine principles.

I emphasized that I was not Buddhist for this reason, so that I have less of a chance to confuse people. What I said here about focusing on the practice and not the politics is something I uphold in any situation; in my own path I practice this principle, just focusing on the practice; I don't see Buddhism very different from my own practice as they both achieve or are meant to achieve the end goal. Buddhists, Hindus, and even Christians are all humans, and spiritual seekers (most) at that. Perhaps I was just sharing my opinion for my own understanding. I don't want to cross so I apologize

ZionRebirth .Tello There was no problem amongst Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhist before the start of the ban and discrimination. In Gaden Monastery of which Tsem Rinpoche is an incumbent there, all monks gathered together to do puja of Setrap and Dorje Shugden puja once a month. Now Tibetans are split due to this issue, so with Tibetans s disunited how will they achieve anything in the coming days? The Dorje Shugden practitioners did not start this problem but we are trying to come to a conclusion, a dialogue between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden leaders can just do that.

i have a strong affiliation towards Dorje Shugden and i know the problems created by his so called Holiness the dalai lama , first i think he is a sick man and there are signs of dementia but i don´t want to go further then that , i consider myself buddhist from the Karmapa or Kagyu lineage , i had my maha mudra initiation and gave the boddhisatva vow .
the current dalai lama is in my eyes no one you can rely on he has his own mental problems and is not really able to be a dalai lama .
there is no need to talk about the Shugden ban , it is absurd , i cannot understand it and in the way the dalai lama introduced his ban was more like adolf hitler then anyone else , stop doing it or you will get banned too ( a lot of ppl suffer because of this and it is a huge suffering to be excluded from your own society in a foreign land , this has nothing to do with compassion or loving kindness . this issue discredits all lineages everything what is called Yana , hinayana , mahayana , vajrayana etc it has the might and power to destruct the whole buddhist dharma , this is what i see , we are not immune to demonic forces , to ban the strongest solution to exterminate black magic and other sick behaviors , the refuge to Trakze ( dorje shugden as the dharma protector ) can be considered a demonic act , to get rid of the enemy the dharma protector .
Have you ever heard a good , wise and articulate speech of the so called dale lama ? despite the fact that he had the best teachers available in his time in tibet , nope you just hear an old man laughing and speaking simple slogans and stereotypes , nothing deeper then what we all know about buddhism , this should be a buddha but i don´t see any buddha qualities in him just a deteriorating old man with probably a mental issue . it is sad as a buddhist to write such harsh words about him but i am committed to the truth not to some kind of weird politics .

Have you checked out Dorje Shugden offical website on www.dorjeshugden.com? You may shed some light from there. We all here wish H.H. Dalai Lama good health and long life. His banning on worshipping Dorje Shugden may not because DS is an evil (of course he says so), there are obviously other reasons for that (eg for political issues).

far as i know the bann was initiated by the Nechung ( hope i got the name right ) Oracle , further i know that the oracle is a Spirit bound by oath , so not an enlightened being .
on the one hand the Dalai Lama wants to prohibit spirit worshipping but he himself makes no major decision without an Oracle , which is a Spirit .
then he goes further and says all masters in the past have been simply wrong on that issue . i get very suspicious when it comes to the Dalai Lama , he caused a lot of suffering ( all the ppl who got excluded from their tibetan exile society ) and he still causes suffering .
i will take a look at the DS site , thank you

i´ve answered your kind reply to my post but somehow it does not appear here but this is not so important , what i see or feel is like the destruction of an ancient tradition , as i am from the Karmapa lineage ( i got my initiation to the Mahamudra teachings in 95 and made the oath to come back as long as it takes to liberate all sentient beings off course when i am evolved enough to do so ) it reminds me the discussions we had about the second Karmapa and his recognition by the Dali Lama against the decision of the Sharmapa who does not need the Dalai Lama´s o.k. to his decisions , specially considering the 17th Karmapa this is still a big issue for me and then i see the dividing of a whole human society by declaring all former masters as wrong and taking the Nechung oracle , which is a spirit bound by oath and not an enlightened being , more serious then the consideration of so many past masters , it feels like the destruction of the whole Dharma practiced by different lineages ( sorry for my bad english , i´m from germany ) .
something very serious is going on and i see it as a danger for the whole Sangha , Dharma and the Buddhas , how can a not enlightened spirit like the Nechung oracle be more true then the decisions of so many great teachers , bodhisattvas and incarnated Buddhas ? it makes me very sad because this is the ground or soil on which the plant of " doubts " can arise and threaten the trust or the relationship to ones Guru or Lama , Rinpoche etc etc.
in my personal opinion this can lead to the destruction of the former unified community called Sangha , the refuge ( doubts come up when ppl see these conflicts ) to the 3 jewels .
i am very confused and irritated from this two issues ( the bann of Dorje Shugden and the second or first Karmapa , the fact that there are two but only one can be the right one ) .
i don´t know how to deal with it , sadly we have no center like Kechara here in Cologne so i have to rely on the teachings i receive from certain youtube channels and HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche is a great help for me to understand things more deeply .
i could go ahead typing but it would only circulate the questions , how can the Dalai Lama as an incarnated Buddha take instructions from an non enlightened spirit bound by oath ?
when he says they were all wrong ( the time before him ) he declares the teachings to be false and thereby destructs the whole Dharma , isn´t it so ?
the fact that i don´t know who is my real Karmapa stops the practice , you freeze in doubt and are not able to practice ( in my case , others may handle it , i have these problems .
Thank you very much for your attention and kind reply , greetings Karma Jigme Dorje ( Lama Ole Nydahl gave me this name in the early 90´s )
