People like this are nasty. We buy to resell at boot sales and on one occassion a lady gave me the change before I gave her the money. It would have been easy to walk away but I personally could never do that. We have also sold at a boot sale and we had PSP games stolen from the boxes. It is always best to have at least two people selling, one to sell and one to watch what is going on. Good luck in the future.
The people that run it should ban him. I understand how you feel happened to me twice last year I have thought of taping it like you have just to have proof x
a blow up photo of this guy should be given to all sellers at the entrance to put on the side of their cars or on their tables. But, with this crackpot world we live in regarding human rights and all that crap it's probably not allowed
The same customers revisit the same sales week in, week out. He will be there again, will be easy to identify him.
My friend had a roll of gaffer tape stolen off of his stall at Shootash car boot near Romsey, Hampshire not long ago. A buyer told him of the theft, he then, along with the boot sale owner, confronted the lady and, lo and behold, they found the tape in her bag. When asked why she stole it, she merely turned round and said "because I could" She was in her 50's.When selling at a boot sale it's 'trust no one, suspect everyone'. There's thieves and scammers at all of them

Wow, that's crazy! I just watched that video a couple hours ago. I saw him take 2 pairs and he looked a little shifty about it. But I just thought he paid for both of them. Sorry he did this to you. You certainly didn't deserve it. ❤

Theft is theft & it happens a lot @ car boots, I've had it done to me and they target one person sellers. A good tip with selling footwear is to just display the right one like they do in shops & with games/DVDs just the cases and if they're interested with your price show the match. Also have a camera recording over your stall to deter temptation. This guy will eventually get outed!
I think the problem is allowing people to bag stuff before paying as you can't keep track on what people are taking. I've noticed a few of the resellers do it and then the people on the stall can't remember what they've taken always. It's the same when people are trying to set up and they have groups of people rooting around asking for prices it's not really fair on them. I'd never do a car boot on my own you need help to keep an eye on things.
Yes, I do them on my own and it can be bad when you've a few people all wanting to buy at the same time 😞
I amreally sorry that happened to you. I have followed you for a couple of months now and you have given me the confidence to start selling, just de cluttering for now, maybe it will lead to bigger things, who knows. Try not to let it get to you, you are one of the good guys and what he did will catch up with him x

This is really scummy! Is it possible to blow up his image and print it off and give it to the Carboot organisers? He needs to be named and shamed…alternatively you get let the sloth loose on him….😅
Same happened to me today too ☹️.... got a deal on two pairs of designer sunglasses in labelled boxes & asked for a bag unbeknown to me had pocketed another pair in box straight off the table!

Buy one pair. Get one free. Stealing from a Carboot is as low as stealing from a Charity shop. Such a sad world we live in when this happens. Hopefully u see him tomorrow but concentrate on sourcing and not him and karma will follow ten fold.
He definitely pulled a snidey there, not telling you he had both pairs or even correcting you on the change was a douche move.
unfortunately this happens alot, i work in security industry and see this type of transaction quite often, local car boots by me get robbed + charity shops get robbed too, the store i cover is a nightmare,
Some sellers at my local car boot sale only put one shoe out, then the buyer has to ask to see the other shoe, then they can keep track of who is looking at them

Oh ive had it all - people walking of with stuff in their hand - people with an well practiced way of confusing you with regard to money like saying they are waiting on their change when they havent even given you the money and they know to do this when your overwhelmed with customers so you start to doubt yourself - they got a million and one ways of robbing you

I've had a few things that I've noticed go missing in my time. Even caught one red handed stealing from me before and confronted her, she's a regular at our local ones, I wonder how much she has gotten away with.
Always have to be looking round even if someone is asking you questions about something, they work in pairs/groups where you will be distracted at one end and they are helping themselves at the other end.
Yeah, tell by his face. Eyes did a double shift at you when he put the boots in his bag.

I had this happen to me, someone walked off woth some decent toys didnt buy anything off me, the worst part of carboots is the ambushing of several people asking something at once which creates a perfect distraction for thieves
Bootsales are sketchy places, people selling stolen goods, people selling fakes and people go to steal because it's easier than stealing from a shop and usually has zero repercussions if you get caught. It's like this everywhere, as a reseller who frequents car boots, I feel like you should know that anyway, even if you don't want to admit it

That sucks, I think is is the reason in more and more videos I watch there is only 1 shoe and the have ask for the other but even still on your own its hard work to keep a eye on everything

Unfortunately Boot Sales are rife with thieves , When i used to sell retro games i had to keep the actual carts and discs in the car and leave out empty cases
yes you have to have eyes in the back of your head at these sales, and there are parents who keep you talking while the kids pick things up and walk away
I had 3 foreigners seal from me. It was 3 lads they stole a dress that was my partner's. I had to chase them down to get it back

Contact the organisers of Shepperton Carboot, the thief is easy to recognise from the images. They won't want his type at the place.

Hi mate this happens all the time, my wife does boot sales and some of these people work in gangs and they distract you while the others steal, you do need someone with you all the time. All the best Lurcherman

I had a brand new kettle last week and 1 other item stolen I was swarmed last week I wasn't able to pay attention seen a few videos of people getting stuff stolen at the weekend 😡 drives me insane

I spotted that straight away but thought maybe it was way you’d edited it and he’d already agreed price / bought first pair. The little look he give did suggest a shiftiness. Least you’ve got evidence if you run into him again

Unfortunately it happens always one mate etc never nice and happened to me several times at boots but you right at least two people and extra vigilant
I done a car boot stall many years ago, turned up early and constantly bombarded by people asking me to open boxes and cases, before even setting up properly! Had one guy who took a coat of a stall and did not notice and was wearing for at least an hour walking around the field with it! But he came back asking how much for the item! Quote the saying: Nothing quire as folk! 😅
Yeah when I sell if I go to one where people jump in the boot every item is £100 until it hits my table. I’m a reseller but my god give people time to get it out
I sell on boots as my only income & every single week I probably loose £20-30 in theft every week 🤬 I'm sorry to say its always the same demographic too
stealing at carboot sales is a regular occurence, many people at my local carboot have had their days takings stolen and items stolen from stalls regularly

I go to lot of carboots and hear same problems from stall holders .
A lesson learned-people are not all Angels at car boot sales-you need eyes in the back of your head-I even had all my days takings stolen one time.
Unfortunately there are people out there at will do this time & time again it’s a very sad world we now live in and you know it from the bottom to the very top of society

They'll nick anything at car boot, i had a plant stolen out of my trolley once it was deep in a pocket so it could'nt of fallen out. The worst thing i've ever witness was last year when i was selling at a car boot, a guy on a stall next to me had £450 of taking stolen out of his unlocked car :(.. I normally sell on my own at car boots but don't take anything of real value. I always use a bumbag aswell to keep my money on me at all times. Sorry this happened to you.

Mate ive done hundreds of boot sales and one thing ive learnt "the hard way" is some will scr*w yeah , he did the oldest trick in the book when you went to get something under the table that's when he thought im in here .. always always keep your eye on the ball or take someone with yeah .. sorry but your a bit to trusting ..

Id like to say there was some kind of mix up but that was unfortunately a chancer who wasnt even good at it, it is hard with 1 person selling to watch over everything and deffo 1 shoe out would work better for next time, theres people like this everywhere and its happened to most of us at some point, my eyes were on him from the start and its sad you have to be less trusting but rule 101 at a bootsale these days trust No one !!!

I was thinking maybe he thought you were talking to him about the £1.50. but it was clear you were talking to the lady. trying to give people the benefit of the doubt, he really didn't look like he was being sneaky and hiding that he put 2 pair in his bag. , but then i spose thats the difference between a thief and an honest person, its second nature to them. I've been selling at bootsales for years and only caught 1 person stealing, they took a whole tray of ps1 games and ran off. I wouldnt let it put you off . if you're selling low end stuff to clear, then meh.. at least the dick unknowingly gave you great content :)
