  • 🌊 Talk about a force to be reckoned with!! 💦 Fire hydrants aren't just eye-catching; they're essential tools in combating fires. The color-coded tops help firefighters quickly determine the available water flow rate, allowing them to optimize their firefighting strategy. Let's break it down:
🔴 Red (0-499 GPM): When you spot a red-topped hydrant, it means it can deliver a water flow rate of up to 500 gallons per minute.
🟠 Orange (500-999 GPM): The orange-topped hydrants kick things up a notch, with a flow rate ranging from 500 to 999 gallons per minute. These hydrants are like a power boost, ensuring a strong water supply for tackling larger fires.
🟢 Green (1000-1499 GPM): If you encounter a hydrant with a green top, it's ready to deliver an impressive water flow rate between 1000 and 1499 gallons per minute. These hydrants pack a serious punch, providing firefighters a robust water source to combat intense blazes.
🔵 Blue (1500+ GPM): Finally, we have the majestic blue-topped hydrants. With a mind-blowing water flow rate of 1,500 gallons per minute or more, these hydrants are the true superheroes of firefighting. They unleash an incredible torrent of water, extinguishing flames and saving lives in the most challenging scenarios.
So the next time you spot a fire hydrant with its vibrant top, remember what it represents and the important role they play in keeping us safe. 💪🚒

I'd kill for whatever LDH you guys are using, it looks maybe 5x lighter than the stuff we have.

How often do you guys test hydrants? One in my neighborhood looks like it hasn't been used in decades

Does the small side operate the smaller valve? Where do I get an adapter for a smaller hose?

Storz fittings I think are standard on soft sleeve LDH.

The colours are indicated by the amount of water coming out, it’s the same as a traffic light, green is the lowest ( 0-500) all the way up to blue which is 1500 Gallons of water.

Orange is the lowest (At least where I am from) Green is 500-1500 GPM

Red is 500 gpm or less. Orange is 500-999. Green is 1000 to 1499. Blue is 1500+ gpm. I've also heard the caps themselves are sometimes painted a different color from the rest of the hydrant to indicate hydrant pressure.
