- It’s our first visit to the Lonestar State! We traveled to San Antonio, Texas. We stayed at the Alamo KOA which was the perfect centralized location for our adventures. We visited the Alamo, strolled the Riverwalk, dined and enjoyed margaritas at Boudro's, experienced Mission National Historic Park, shopped La Villita and El Mercado and cooled off as we floated down the Comal River in New Braunfels. Next time stop in the Menger Hotel bar next door to the Alamo. The bar itself is beautiful and historic. It's where Teddy Roosevelt formed the Rough Riders. Great video.

I want to visit San Antonio in the near future. I visited SA's River Walk back in '86, which was quite a long time ago, it was so magical then to me, and seems the same feel is still there. Glad you and the family had a good time in San Antonio!

Next time you go to SA you need to go to the Menger Hotel by the Alamo. Lots of history and Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders for the Spanish American war in the bar. It is said that TR put a bullet hole in one of the walls, but they think that is a myth. Another place to visit was in the background of where your truck was parked. The Tower of the Americas has a nice restaurant that revolves. Best time to visit is maybe a half hour before sunset. Been 20 years since I been there so can't speak for the quality of the food. There is also an observation deck. Also, the Tower was part of the 1968 HemisFair. There are also buildings still standing and used from the fair.

Most people don't know but the Riverwalk runs 15 miles with sites all the way where you end up from downtown to the ZOO. I Live in Texas so I've been to San Antonio countless times.

Glad y'all enjoyed your visit! Since you enjoyed the river in New Braunfels, if y'all come back, you might want to look into some of the campgrounds on River Road between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. And, if you can, plan your trip for earlier in the Spring or maybe just at the beginning of Autumn. Summers are hot down here, but this one has been a summer for the records. I don't recall a year with so many 100+ degree days. At least if you're here in the summer, if you're on the river, it's very easy to cool down! Also, just a little bit to the west, there's an escarpment and the elevation goes up a few hundred feet. The change in humidity and temperature is quite noticeable. There are plenty of places for enjoying cool, spring-fed rivers in the Texas hill country close to San Antonio and Austin. In the summertime, you can find rodeos and other things to enjoy when the sun goes down. The area around Kerrville and Fredericksburg is Texas peach and wine country. Fredericksburg is also home to the National War of the Pacific Museum and boyhood home of Admiral Nimitz of WWII fame. The museum is remarkable and if you can catch a live reenactment, it's quite an experience.

Lots of really good food in SA. If you ever go back consider giving Pico De Gallo a shot. It's authentic mexican food and soooo good!

We just installed our new correct track cam stops and leaf spring bolt today. Our GD recently lost it somewhere in the mountains. Same thing that happened to you. While up in the mountains, basically stranded, we happened to have a big bolt that fit (3 hours of hard work, trying to get the leaf spring to line up with the bolt hole on uneven, rough terrain ) and it got us home. I think your idea of the pliers is ingenious, would have never thought of that. Well done. Are you going to show the process of installing the new cam stops and bolt?
I most likely will not, Luckily the trailer was still within our 1 year warranty when this happened! We just had it back to the dealer for them to order parts. we had a list of items that need to be fixed so when parts all arrive we will just let them do it. they said parts haven't been too hard to get in lately so I'm optimistic it won't be long before it gets fixed.

The Menger Hotel is to your right....the Pat O’s is behind you....piano bar on the way to a bank that was turned into a hotel. U missed a ton.

Also a lot of places offer non alcoholic versions of their drinks! this was not a non alcoholic version of the drink but we did share the drink to ensure that she was under the limit, and stayed hydrated to continue to care for our kids!
