Giles Udy, an expert in Soviet Communism, speaks to Lee Hall about Marxism and the UK Political Left

Giles William Udy is an English writer and historian of the Soviet Gulag system, Soviet influence on British politics 1917-56 & how history repeats itself.
He is a member of the council of the Keston Institute and holds an MBA from the Cass Business School. He is a regular contributor to The Times, The Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, the i, UnHerd and the magazine Standpoint.
Udy has made a long-term study of the history of the gulag camps of Norilsk, his collection of photographs of which is in the Hoover Institution Archives. His book 'Labour and the Gulag' (2017) examines the response of the British labour movement to conditions under Stalinism and developed from his earlier Gulag studies after he discovered that the British labour movement had suppressed criticism of conditions in the camps.

I can't understand why this isn't taught in American school. Any of Solzhenitsyn's books and The Black Book of Communism would be used as text books. Personally they should be required reading in at least one year in American education.

@@BaconNBeer i agree, i was fortunate that my father taught me a lot when i was younger and I’m also a very curious person so i seek out as much information as possible. However most people aren’t that lucky. We really need to also be teaching about the geopolitical situations going on in the world that lead to major events. Things don’t happen in a vacuum and who did what on whatever date is probably the least important part of learning history. But in school they want u to be able to remember names and dates. Not to be able to think for yourself.

Because the narcissistic leftists want to believe that this wasn’t real communism or real socialism. They are still trying to implement it today. Only now it’s called equity and it’s oppressed vs oppressor

the subject is extremely important and cogent. If you don't understand the message listen again until you understand the message. If people today don't understand where Totalitarianism takes you they will repeat it. Totalitarianism and human nature must be understood it ends in extreme cruelty and the death of hundreds of millions. It has happened in the last century and it is coming about again if we don't understand it and stop it. It must be taught in schools.
