  • A short video to assess the quality of the Heritage 130 optics. I've put the OTA onto a Vixen AP mount, and i use a ZWO camera to look at the moon.

    Nice to see that this scope even has flexibility for some astrophotography. I was thinking it could make a nice compact set up for EAA.

      The optics are good, it's just the helical focuser that makes it a little difficult. But with practice it can be done!

    Good evening. I really enjoyed this video. Is the image sharp and bright visually? The camera one looks a bit dull. By the way I couldn't find the sharp cap app you mentioned. Is it in android Google Play , apple store or Microsoft? one?

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 5 lety +2

      Hertfordshire Allotment Life Hello, the app runs on a PC or laptop. I use a Windows laptop. The app allows you to adjust the exposure of each frame, so I could have brightened it by increasing the exposure using a slider. It’s a trade off as always to get the best results.

      @JenhamsAstro  Před 5 lety +2

      Hertfordshire Allotment Life NightCap is an app that allows you to adjust a smartphone’s camera. Worth a look if you plan to do “over the eyepiece” photos.

    Any collimation issues with the extending tube?

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 5 lety +1

      Astro Shlibber Suprisingly not. It seems to cope well with normal setups, with tube retraction and extension. I’ve tweaked the collimation a couple of times but nothing more.

    Hello sir. How’s the image quality when viewing Saturn or Jupiter? Can you see much detail of the rings and moons? 🪐

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 3 lety

      Hi, both planets appear very small. You will clearly see that Saturn has rings and that Jupiter has bands, but don’t expect to see fine details. The brighter moons will appear as bright dots. Clear skies.

    Can you please explain how this telescope is placed on a mount? I'm thinking of buying the Heritage 150, but not sure how I'd raise it (without bringing a table for example). Can it be raised on an alt mount? Thanks

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 3 lety

      Hello, yes the tube includes a standard “vixen” type dovetail bar which means you could attach the tube to any alt az mount which accepts such a dovetail. Alternatively yes you can put on a table or make a stand yourself.

    This telescopio can be placed on a Star Tracker Skywatcher Star Adventurer 2i?, and supports the weight of a standard camera?

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hello, I don't have that tracker but on paper the telescope tube would be OK with a lightweight astro camera like an ASI. A DSLR would be on the limit with the 130P and in general a DSLR isn't a great choice for the 130P, as it has a lightweight focuser and general construction - in my view the scope is best suited to visual scanning of the sky. The telescopes that I have seen with this tracker, with a DSLR, have been small APO refractors like a 72ED.

      @@JenhamsAstro another question: is it a good idea to buy an EQ mount and put this scope on it? since a good EQ is out of my budget ATM im thinking of buying this scope, and later on buying an EQ so i can do easier tracking

    • @JenhamsAstro
      @JenhamsAstro  Před 8 měsíci

      I would say no, the 130p is a simple low power scope and you don’t need the hassle and cost of an Eq, unless you get into some kinds of astrophotography, for which this isn’t really the ideal scope. I would leave getting an Eq until you buy a 2nd scope and use the 130p without any bells or whistles.
