- Chuck Daellenbach and his fresh-faced players, each with red-striped sneakers and matching outfits, strolled into the NPR Music offices, took their places behind Bob Boilen's desk and started blowing as if they'd played this peculiar gig a hundred times.
Set List:
J.S. Bach: Little Fugue In G minor
Luther Henderson: Tuba Tiger Rag
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Flight Of The Bumblebee

yes let's cut away from the trombone as the trombone solo is happening what a good idea
IKR!!
starsreachdown don't be rude
@@lizzywilliams262 This is the internet, so he was being pretty tame. And you got to admit that it was kinda dumb on NPR's part right?
*cuts away from trombone when trombone feature comes*
Trombone FTW
Cole Drinkwater wtf
For some reason the world is anti trombone. That is, except for us really cool types.
as another trombonist I agree, THE WORLD IS AGAINST US... SO WE MUST RISE UP AND ATTTAAAACCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Achilles Liarmakopoulos plays trombone and has a lot of really great vids on CZcams. Look him up and Suscribe!
Why do I think that Chuck despite being the oldest is the craziest and the most fun of them all?
this band keeps getting better BTW.
Compared to the old group this is no bueno lol
@@MrDrewboggess I'd listen to Brandon Ridenour over Ronald Romm 100%
@@benjaminpiela5210 How long have you been deaf?
Wow, that mic is not very forgiving. That and the small set up don't leave much room for error. Scares me just listening. Gotta be on your game. Good job guys. Actually like being in the room.
And I might I add,...Wow!
You know what would be nice? At the end, when the credits are rolling, if you would list the names of the musicians who just performed. Sure, sure, the producer and editor are important, but I'm pretty sure that the musicians who are the focal part of this performance are kind of important too.
Gregory Lopes They are (from left) Chris Colletti (Piccolo Trumpet), Eric Reed (French Horn), Chuck Dallenbach (Tuba), Achilles Liambarkolous (Trombone(I don’t know how to spell his last name)), Brandon Ridenour (Trumpet)
Stephen Locke think he’s just saying they should credit the performers as well because they were an integral part of the performance
I like how the french horn kinda dances along to the music
If you played horn you would understand. It's just a thing me and all the horn players i know kind of just do
joan martinez ya it's a horn thing, I literally never noticed it until during my concert that I just got back from, I was sitting their playing off beats (French horns know what I mean) and I was kinda dancing to the music
Dat tuba spin.... Vintage
Flippin' hilarious. The only thing cooler than brass instruments are the people who play them.
16 strings and woodwinds disliked this video.)
Crown Uk and 16 brass players liked this comment
For everybody who's bent out of shape at the unfortunate timing of the edit so that you can't see the trombone feature, the Canadian Brass have their own video here on CZcams that does show it well. Just look for "Canadian Brass Flight of the Bumblebee".
Absolutely fantastic musicianship here
This is very impressive aside from them just being beast musicians! I have always hated playing trumpet in small, dead spaces like this. You feel like you are constantly having to hold back, which leads to lack of air support, which usually leads to poor tone quality and less response on your attacks and dropping releases. Overall just not fun at all, on top of there being no resonance in the room to make it sound that much better. This is fantastic sounding!!!! Love me some CB!!!!!
To my ears...awesome beyond words...smile, but very serious! I loved it!! Blessings to all!!
I am in love with that joyful brass instruments
greetings from Chile
Every time I hear these guys I can't help but be impressed by how polished they sound.
This is just too great. This is like my 6th time listening to it in a row. Just cant get enough!!
12:29 Great job camera person!
This brightened my day quite a bit.
All this memorized is crazy
Great stuff once more, big thanks !
If you search up Canadian Brass Flight of the bumble bee, there should be a video of him doing it in their own channel. His face is priceless when he does it, yet, he makes it seem so easy.
How can anyone only like! We love it!!!
Simply beautiful ..... very good
Simply beautiful.
"You can't hear this anywhere else live"
dci 2017*
not quite
Very enjoyable performance
Una presentacion magnifica, congratulation
and they memorise their music which is great
Chuck makes everyone's day.
Love that smashing brassing!!!
Very Talent Musicians !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I must say i do love his tuba and enthusiasm.
Out of any brass groups in the world, Mnozil and Canadian are the two biggest ones, so, of course, people are gonna start comparing one to the other, and have people who insist the other is better. I personally love both.
Uncroyable.
Wonderful ! Thanks.
Charles has such a lovely full tone. In my book one of the best tuba players of all time bar none.
Best 13 minutes of my life so far
Heckuva dry room to play in. Kudos for letting it be posted.
Gracias, bravo
It sounds cool in this site! Great!
This concert made me smile...and so I promptly had to share it on FB! Brass instruments at their most nimble and versatile...the playfulness and joy of playing is evident in all of these guys.
That satisifying trill😍
I wish this longer!
Yes!! Made my day!
Love them.
Awesome!!!!!
Love them
Very good!
Chuck still has it!
Love this
wow awesome !
Impeccable
amazing
That moment when all brass musicians release the spit valves at once.
Hell yeah the canadian brass band are killing it.
Great stuff, would love to see Baby Soda Jazz Band on tinydesk!
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏
I dig the clarinet sound that picc trumpet is getting.
Eugene, you're still the BOSS in my book.
Perfect
YES!
Hammergeil! More of the same, please!
what an interesting origin video
real good
Why in the heck did you not have the camera on the trombone when he did that amazing bit of Bumble Bee NPR? Love these guys, a delight all around.
It's called a picardy third. Very common in most ages of music. I personally love them!
I like that you can hear the different voices when they are played on separate instruments.
U play a mean tuba!
Chuck is the only one now that was in the original canadian brass (over 40 years of playing) yes he's good
Daniel Peterson that's pure attituba!
Cole Drinkwater Yes, I've been a Canadian Brass fan for decades and, although this guys are awesome I still miss Ron Romm and Fred Mills. Chuck is still the best!!!
@@ezekb3 and don't forget Eugene Watts.....
Ted moseby?
Very nice!!!!!!:)
Espectacular cierre de acorde en la fuga G mejor, gracias por buena música larga vida a ustedes!!!
jaja! they are the best! son lo mejor! haha
who knew Seth Rogan could play french horn
well, he's canadian, so.
who knew ted mosby could play trombone
muy buenos
Bonus points for the "I ❤️ NPR" lapel pin.
WOW that picc trumpet did a great job imitating dixieland clarinet!
ridiculously good
A bone player named Achilles...LOVE IT!!!
Our lips were not designed to do this, I love it.
Diego Panadero Roser almost understood all of that. My Spanish must be improving. Isn't deje past tense and "que espero que dure mucho" that flew over my head. "That" "I Hope" "will" "last" "a lot" is what I make the words out to be individually
리얼 내 취향에 맞는 곡이다
They panned away from the trombonist in flight of the bumblebee! Grrrr
Bach does that a lot including in his Double Violin Concerto in D minor
these guys used to be people who'd practiced their craft for 30-40 years, now they're recruiting people straight out of college who are retiring before the age of 30
I like how the one guy pulls out a 4 valve trumpet for bumblebee. It's just impossible to pull a slide that quick
To the piccolo guy:
What mouthpiece would you recommend for a Kanstul Bb/A/G piccolo trumpet?
- Niklas Sølvberg - Øverby
This made me laugh.
I love Lewis Black on the tuba
more
Qual modelo dessa tuba? Tocam muito!
Did I Hear a Trumpet Squeak at 2:22?
Must of been a glitch with the recording software.
These people are to good :D.
I am a trombone player as well. And I meant the compensating slide on a trumpet with the pinky. I can do bumblebee with a trombone slide.
Go look up the Stradivarius Artisan Eb/D trumpet. That's model these guys play on.
You were saying?
i want Canadian Brass to perform in my office.
Typically, the musicians' names are listed in the "About" section. For whatever reason, on this video they are not. Perhaps they preferred to simply be referred to as The Canadian Brass rather than five separate musicians.
Little Fugue in G minor by J.S. Bach.
The lead plays on a Bb a C and a piccolo trumpet
I found the way to show you the video where that music plays at 7:50:
The title of that video is: Ny,pogodi ! CARTONS watch 11 - 20 Series HD
