  • Starting your Ford with a malfunctioning Vehicle Security System. I was 57 miles from any town and my alarm system in regard to the key fob decided to be a "no show". I could not turn off the alarm or start the truck. Watch the video to see what I did to get the truck started and make my way home. #trucks #f250 #ford

This is brilliant Scott's Garage "HTX"! I was 3.5 hours from home and tried half a dozen other remedies... none other did diddly squat. Got me home well, so thanks a lot for posting

In the 2000 as in this video it is by the driver's shins and knees. Additionally in this particular model there is a plastic cover with tricky small bolts involved two of which are on either side of the hood release but the other should be more visible. Once you pull that down and out you'll have to deal with a metal plate behind it was about five or six other bolts. They just don't build them like that anymore! Once you get in there you should see it on your right side so unplug it and jump (bypass) it as described in the video. You don't really need to get it repaired after that unless you want all the alarm stuff and the ignition kill but considering it's age come on. Hope that helps and right back if you need more instructions...

I really wish someone would come up with a technical fix or bypass to the pats system. So you DON'T NEED TO HAVE A KEY!!! Or 2 keys for that matter. Every video about fixing, bypass, solved, or whatever title they post, it's all basically the same thing. They HAVE A KEY THAT GOES TO THE CAR! My keys are GONE! I don't have a single key that matches the car. My keys are lost forever. You can't tell me that there is no way around the security system!

Just make sure you don’t have the paper clip touching any bare metal in the car. You thought having a bad alarm was bad, some poor bloke would ground his starter wire with the paper clip and really be stranded because he can’t find a replacement fuse 😂

That's not a factory alarm, those are dealer installed, aftermarket alarms. The OEM or factory alarm will honk the horn and not have a cheap siren or a rigged in place module like that.
The best thing you can do there is to follow the wires back to where ever they cut and spliced that thing in and reconnect all the factory connections and throw that thing in the trash.
The early versions were made by Code Alarm. The current brand for those is Voxx Electronics.
They were only as good as the install itself. The problem is they paid techs very little to install those and most allotted only a half hour for the full install.
Part of the install includes cutting the factory power lock wires, starter wires, and ignition wires on some models.
If these connections were not made with good solder and heat shrink your left with a bunch of twisted and taped connections that are sooner or later going to fail.
I've seen some really poor installs over the years. To do it right, on some models your looking at several hours to half a day to locate and splice the correct wires.
Then you have the likely hood of that module failing, or having trouble when it comes to dealing with the key transponder system.
I had a conversion van with one in it, when I got the van I re did the install correctly and it was fine for about 5 years, then the module failed, one of the internal relays became intermittent. I was able to fix it but soon after other parts of the module failed as well. I removed it completely with the thought that at 8 years old, and being parked in my garage, the chances of theft were slim.

Yes. IF it has the two oval button (and one red oval panic button below) key fob. I can not find these fobs anywhere and will probably have to install a totally separate system. Argh! I have been putting off spending the $. I am not sure if the square button fobs has the same controller, but there is only one way to find out. Take that panel down and see. Good luck. Thanks.
