My stainless waste basket also got damaged. Wow...we have so much in common. I did cry after the movers left. I moved from N. Ga to Wi (my home state) I was only in Ga for 5 years. But I missed so much with grandchildren and daughter and family.

Look what you have done as a "late bloomer"! You are so brave and ambitious! And by yourself! Wow, girl, you rock! Take a few minutes, if you can, each day to walk around the yard and woods. It will help you to hit a reset and maybe give you a little boost of ambition to attack the boxes again. Look forward to seeing your progress!

I would be there in a heartbeat if I lived a little closer. The first thing I always did when I moved to a new place, would make up my bed, arrange my toiletries for bath, and make sure my coffee pot & the makings were ready to go. Then my first room to start on would be kitchen necessities organized. If I were you, for now , set up a comfortable sitting area around your fireplace so you have a spot to relax & take deep breathes. Take a hot bath & a good nights rest in your bed will make for a better day tomorrow. Oh, maybe a glass of wine too before bed. ❤️. Your home is beautiful.

Your two most recent videos I was able to sit and watch today. I went to check if I’d missed any other recent ones and since I didn’t know of your channel all these years ago, I clicked on this one to see how things have progressed. I caught a glimpse of Linden as you were walking up the garage steps into the house and the look on her face was, “hey lady, put some food in my bowl” …. I’ve seen that exact same look with Harry Houdini, I may have my hands full with laundry or something and I’ll look down to see the “kitty stare” of… “feed me, look at my bowl, it’s empty, yes I just wolfed down a whole package of wet food but I’m ready for something extra, please!” God bless you Kaye, you have a lovely channel! Much love… 😘

I moved across country too and I know it's overwhelming. Take your time unpacking. It's so much work and I feel like you will get a better feel for how you want to use all the rooms if you take your time. Take some time to figure out which bedroom feels right to you. You can hire someone to move furniture upstairs if you want your bedroom to be upstairs. Don't let that hold you back. You deserve to have the home feel just right for you! Yes to good boots! Such a lovely sunroom... it will be so adorable when you have put your talent to work, decorating it! This house has so many possibilities! Just take it one day at a time... as you empty the first few boxes, I would suggest you store an empty one in each room to corral the things you think might look nice or eventually make their permanent home there. You have alot of space, and the perfect season to contemplate how you want it to be! Everything will come together, dear Kaye. Tears are cleansing, I totally understand the overwhelm. It will be alright. Take a deep breath and set a goal of so long (ex: 2 hours of unpacking or 10 boxes per day). This will make you feel accomplished and not overwhelmed. When you time is up or # of boxes unpacked, walk away. When you are not doing that make a list of what you need for supplies, make a timeline of when you would like to get things done, get in the car and drive around to get familiar with the area. Order some seeds from Baker Creek from the new catalog, plan on getting those boxes built you need and hire someone to do it before spring. You will feel better getting some of these things rolling while you are working on others. The property is beautiful and I bet very quiet. You are blessed!

Hi Kaye. I moved from Chgo to TN in the Sparta area 1 yr ago. I know how you feel. Its overwhelming when you are surrounded by tons of boxes. I'm still unpacking and rearranging things. But focus on the good things - your house is beautiful and the yard is magical. There are so many possibilities in your future. TN is such a beautiful state wether its snowing, raining, foggy or just hot and sunny. I had a standard city lot in Chgo that was 35 x 125 on which was my house and garage and a tiny amount of yard area for me to garden, now I have 16 acres. I dont know what to put where because there is so much room! I can't wait to see how you do your garden so I can be inspired. But for now have a tea and relax. tomoorow is another day. As for the ceiling fan, check the switch located just below the blades to make sure it's flipped to the winter setting and set the fan to the lowest spin setting. The fan will distribute the heat from the wood stove more efficiently. I use mine to great effect. You may also wish to find a couple of small fans to setup near the stove pointing to the outlying areas of the house. I use one near the top of my stairs to blow the heat back down to the lower floor. Experiment some with placement and you'll have more comfortable heat.
Thank you for the tour. LOVE the upstairs. The bonus room would be a wonderful sewing room or meditation area. Take your time and get a feel for how you'll like to use the spaces before you bring anything heavy upstairs.

Hi Kaye, I know this video is three weeks old and someone may have made a similar suggestion below. But, you deserve to get a riding lawn mower. You operate one so well and with the side of your homestead, it will be a very wise investment. So, put pulling a cord to start a mower out of your expectations. Think 🚜⛳💪.

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  Před 3 lety

I really thought I would do that, but I have to wait for a big investment like that till I see what's going to happen with the dollar. In the meantime, I found a great lawn service (you can see them in a following video to this one) and they fixed me up till April (when I will have to mow again) for a reasonable price and did what would take me days to do in three hours. When I tried that riding mower in Illinois (you must have seen that video), it does jolt your back and with my compressed spine may need to rely on the professionals for mowing. We shall see... Thanks so much!

But 9 years later I'm still here and still doing stuff to it... Little by little... Rome wasn't built in a day! Unpacking is nothing... It's fun like Christmas! Enjoy figuring it all out.. where to put stuff... You will end up changing it anyway!!

Your absolutely an inspiration. The are few people who would have the strength to take on such a dramatic change. I understand the need to organize when people are coming. Don’t stress too much because you will have time to live with the house and the land which always gives one a greater appreciation for how things should be. Slow and steady wins the race and don’t unwilling to change something around until you just love it. That’s what my mother taught me ☺️

I know exactly how you feel, we have been ready to move since the start of October, hopefully FINALLY moving the end of this week. I know the overwhelm of so many boxes. Just take it one box at a time. Focus on that box, and that box only til it's empty. If you find things you forgot about, just get rid if it's not adding to your life and you didn't miss it while it was packed away 💕 you will get through it xx

Don’t let it all overwhelm you...just start with unpacking one box, before you know it you’ll be all organized and cozy in your new home! Start your day and end your day with thoughts of gratitude. Look around and count your blessings, some days you will be thankful that you’re able to feel how tired you are but that just means you accomplished a lot! I really believe one’s attitude has a great deal to do with their happiness! You have a beautiful home and your property is fantastic now go and make it yours! Wishing all of Gods blessings for your new life!!

Take a deep breath and take care of yourself! You’ve been going nonstop for days! One step at a time, one box at a time. Unpack the things that you absolutely need and take your time with the rest. Put them in the garage or one of the extra bedrooms and then unpack those little by little. Everything will be OK ❤️

Lovely home. It's a long day when they deliver everything. It's overwhelming as it's an ordeal to pack up an entire home of memories and unpack, but do something everyday and soon it's done. Although I admit I still haven't decided where a few family photos should be placed, most are hung. We're not moving again either! Cross country moves are tough but we're very happy now and I'm sure you will be too.

    This is my LIFE!
Due to my special personality (Aspberger), I feel like every day is moving day. That is to say, I mentally process WEEKS of information - daily.
What I've learned in the way of a "coping mechanism" is to make a plan and stick to it.
That "plan" is to accomplish exactly one task each day; one and only one REQUIRED task.
Now, I may do more than one task and indeed often do, but my life is fulfilled by one daily accomplishment.
Sometimes just doing my laundry is the task.
Today, I finished installing window screen one the West end of my greenhouse on both sides of the giant door as well as above the door.
I'm jealous of your suggestion of unloading stress through having a good cry.
That's not an option for (most) autistic folk. I say most, because I can't speak for everyone else.
I enjoy your videos, empathy and willingness to be transparent.

It's Al (short for a family name I have never liked), however years ago, the little girl on the farm next door (now probably 16?), who was just learning to talk, called me "Owl" and it stuck, so 'round here, I'm Owl.
Mac is short for MacGyver, my "handle" on an alternative power forum out of Australia, called . . . Owl's mind goes blank . . . OH, called "The Back Shed".
If you need money for your Chanel, I know a super-easy way to get it, just ask. It's not what you think. Email me and I will explain in detail. I explained it to Patti yesterday in an email reply to her and Kieth, so you could call her and have her read the email to you over the phone. HERE is not the proper place to explain.

I saw more snakes when I lived in the suburbs. I don't like 'em either but I've come to realize that they are trying to avoid me.

Very nice House and Property Kaye. Just my thoughts, because I am doing it here now. This is the time to let things go, especially possessions. I look at something now and say, does it have any memories attached, is it worth anything, really, have I used it or even seen it in the last 5 to 10 years or more. If the answers to these questions no. Then I give it away to someone who wants or needs it. I mean come on Kaye your one person in a 4 Bedroom house. Just my thoughts and food for thought. Take care and God Bless.
