  • What I thought was just a gateway to Machu Picchu turned out to be one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. Cusco is over 11,000 feet above sea level and is the former capital city of the Inca Empire. It features amazing architecture, especially the two churches in the Plaza de Armas, the main square where executions, bullfights, religious processions, and other major events took place. HIgh above Cusco you can see the orange roofs for miles. The city (and surrounding area) is rich with Inca history and is a must-see for any Peru visit.

For those who are interested in the topic of polygonal masonry. A number of methods for obtaining the polygonal masonry are proposed. The basis of the proposed methods is the use of clay/gypsum replicas, a topography translator, and reduced clay models of the stone blocks along with a 3D-pantograph. The results are presented in the article: “Fabrication methods of the polygonal masonry of large tightly-fitted stone blocks with curved surface interfaces in megalithic structures of Peru”.
