Timeless design
indeed and in my opinion the mk4 golf is the most beautiful out of all the golfs nowadays.

@@ap19926 Get a sport air filter and youll see, I do half a second faster 0-100 now with sports air filter. My gearbox is slow and doesnt allow me to shift fast, so the car definitely improves. :)
The MK4 Golf in my opinion is the best all rounder golf. I had a 1.9tdi one of the all time great engines, it did 215,000 miles when I sold it. The MK5 not as good.
It's interesting to see how Golf has evolved so well through the years '95 and 2021. Good job mate

340k km of mileage in poland might mean that it came from germany with 500k in 2005, mileage was changed to 100k, the second owner drove it until 500k (900k actual), changed it to 200k, sold and the third owner drove 140k more 😀

besides the appearance, golf mk4 still doesn't feel outdated, even being almost 25 years old
got the mk4 golf 1.8T (AUM) engine myself from 150 to 180 BHP...leather recaro seats...008P forge diverter valve and numerous other upgrades...one of the best cars to drive for sure

That's a good car. I've tested the 1.6 and the 1.8 20V and there's not a big difference between them...good video Joe, I love these car test of the beggining of the century....great!!!
you're comparing a 100hp car against a 150hp car lol there IS a difference, especially if you get a 1.8 20v off a Leon Cupra, they're 180hp same engine...
@@2Skills4u 1.8 20v without turbo. 125 Cv. Otherwise, I would have said 1.8 20VT.
@@davidcasas3862 my bad then, thought you just missed out on the t after the 1.8, didn't know they made a non turbo 1.8 only other Golf with that amount of horsepower was that 2L GTI that was N/A. slow as hell for a GTI. sounded good though with an exhaust
@@2Skills4u the 2.0 Gti mk3 8v offered 115 cv and yes...most of people thought that was slow...although the 2.0 16 with 150 cv was faster (not faster than the Astra, his main rival). For me, the engines of the mk3 , the 1.9 TDI and the 2.8 Vr6. And for the mk4, the 1.9 TDI, the 1.8 Turbo and of course, the 3.2 of the R32. Amazing!!!
@@davidcasas3862 the mk4 also had a 2L GTI though, dunno if its the same as the mk3. I have a Leon Cupra with the 1.8T just rebuilt the head and gearbox in it, got a decat exhaust on it now. Need to get it tuned after the new year so it doesnt throw codes about the lambda etc for the decat and aim for 220hp

I have a Golf 1.6 2002, 1.6 (EA111 engine) and even today, it's an excellent car, here in Brazil this was the second generation that landed here, but we still consider it as an MK4. It was manufactured here from 2000 until 2006, soon after we had the Golf MK4,5 which was the restyled MK4 and equipped for the first time with a Flex engine (ethanol/gasoline) this version was exported to Canada and called Golf City, around here this version was sold until 2013.

your backmirror is greatest mirror ever
I can see the strugle with popping it in first. Try, when trying to put it in first gear, with the clutch pressed, first sliding it in second gear and then slide it back into first. Because of the alignment of the gears it should slide back in without trouble. At least that's what I do in my Astra G with a similar first gear issue and it works everytime and also is gentle on the gearbox than just forcing it in. Merry Christmas!

You can make a first gear getter (fix the first gear) with a little rubber hose part and a safety pin...mine works as a charm....

Teško je naći nekog dobrog golfa u dobrom stanju jer je turbo dizel i jer nije seriviran dugo. U mojoj zemlji je teško pronaći golfa 4 i naviše da rade bez da se čuju kao traktor... (translate that if u can)

From Golf IV upward, at least visually, it might be the least changing car model in history. I think the German manufacturers in general are the most scared (or simply lazy? ;)) of doing any changes to their cars with any new generation. BMW is similar nowadays. It's not a bad thing when the car is good, but it's unfortunately also more about marketing something "new" every couple years when there is nothing new, just like with smartphones of graphic cards nowadays lol.
Just compare this IV gen to XIII gen, and then you will see, the latest should be an actual V gen, and its still so similar ;)

@@andersnielsen6044 I guess there is a problem with the rings, I have already tried to do various engine rinses but it does not help ..
@@r3jndk867 VW oldskool simple 8 valve engines 1,6 to 2,0 gasoline, use also oil when valve seals are gone too stick. Can happen due to age or overheating.
