That fish and chips looked AMAZING! Definitely trying that next time 👌🏼
Amazing video Joe, I admire your drive to dive in such cold weather
Welcome to my neck of the woods . Great video as always just what's needed in a lockdown and the meal looked really scrumptious. Thanks for sharing and you and the family stay safe.👍
I think I mentioned once before that I'm not really a fan of spearfishing but had started watching your channel as I've got huge admiration for the physicality of what you do but also how you put the videos together. This is a beautifully edited video and really great to watch. Saying all of this there is still no way you'd get me doing what you do, especially in the winter!!
Awesome, thank you Peter! It's great to hear the videos are well edited and still great to watch for someone who isn't a keen spearo 😊
What an amazing end to this excellent video with a Tasty fish & chips dinner, and bit of extra fish for afterwards 🦍🐟👌🏽🫡😋
Keep up with the great work! That's some impressive gun as u said before, quite happy with it now!
Amazing video man! Love it! You are getting better and better. Very tasty looking as well.
Great video joe! Very interesting facts amongst the variety of different conversations you guys had, and some beautifuly huge tasty looking pollack cooked up to perfection, seems you guys are getting quite professional at this 😊
Thanks Bob. We're always improving but there is still much to learn! Thanks for commenting 🙂
Great vid joe! Species Technique is something I’m looking to work on this year and this was a great example of technique for pollock 👌🏻🤙🏻
Cracking video Joe. They get better and better. Very professional.
I hope all is well with you and the family
Thanks Mark! All is well with is us and things about to get very busy hope you and family are good 😌
The underwater footage is amazing, but that fried pollock!!!!!! Magic! My mouth is watering!!!!!
Oh boy that pollack looked amazing!
I agree with chef barcley,
Deeper dives seem eerie sometimes.
Keep up the good work gents
I need fish and chips now, q Homer style drooling 😍😍
Great video once again.
That looks beautiful food.... well done!
Great video. Very interesting about the difference between boat and shore diving.
Those fish look amazing! Good job! That water sure looks chilly! Hope your well!
They are! Waters cooling down but before you know it things will be warming back up 😊
Lads, again this looks amazing 👌. I'll be definitely trying this myself. Only I'll be getting my fish from Tesco unfortunately, but I do have some Tributes in the cupboard so that will be my Cornish ingredient for the batter. Keep the content coming 👍. (Easy for me to say, watching from my warm sofa 😂)
53mins. Delightful
Real keen to watch your shallow dives as my son and I cannot hold our breath that long presently so always listen carefully when you mention depths as most often they are beyond our current abilities
I will try that batter - great video
Down my neck of the woods, really need to get out there this year and explore different spots!!
Geewiz that looks amazing
Cornish Pollock Bey
Great footage, looks like you certainly had the best of that day I tell e 😉
Oh yes! Was a stunning day I tell e 😀 You ever seen a 1987 90 towing a navigator 610 ?
Mr frenchman was absolutely right about the reel and swimming with the fish absolutely demonstrated to perfection. That gun you got is rapid I think I might brake my gun 😁 then I can justify the purchase with my wifey. I’m building some lobster pots for this summer 👍👍. Garmin fish finder chart plotter with side view would be a lovely pressie for you from the family this year then. Nice fish did you find any in the shallows 👍👍👍
Ohh the garmin is a mouth watering prospect!! Maybe just maybe... Yes we had a good session in the shallows! All to be revealed next Monday hopefully 👍💪
That fish and chips looks amazing you should try garden peas fried onion and finely chopped chorizo next time. Great video and happy new year to you and the gang 🏴❤️🏴❤️
Interesting points from Barcley regarding the differences between shore and boat diving. I have recently moved from the former to the latter and it does take some concentrating not to get too ‘excited’ descending into the unknown. Comparatively from the shore, you mostly know what you are going down into. It was actually the hardest part of boat diving for me. Do you get used to it?
Thanks for sharing! You get more used to it for sure, but mustn't forget the clear planning and safety aspect 👌 Stay safe 💪
You are the most posh spearo ever 😂
not so much posh... just a well mannered polite gentleman who takes pride in his work....ya simply cant beat it
and can watch with your granny or children.....great channel.. in my top 5
@@sharkyxxx4057 I just told my wife that listening to him calms me. Very smooth & soothing. Stress leaves me when I watch. Plus as a Southerner here in the States, I love his accent. Listening to his kids is most entertaining.
As a bloke that yak fish`s, SUP fish`s and now Inflatable boat(Takacat) fish`s, off Brighton, Sussex....
When you drop it just blows my mind!!! Coming through murk to clear water lower down!!! Mental.. Beautiful and defo out my comfort zone. You gona grow gills after a while!
that pollack looks so good im going to try do my own if i can find some fish
Great clip! I am most impressed by how hot oil proof you (or Barcley?) are! I hope to get into the UK spearfishing game!
Great Sport and amazing fry up! Have you tried sweet potato chips/fries ( 20 mins @ 200 degrees add pepper - I try not to use salt)
Thanks for your comment Andy! Keen to try sweet potato chips... would be good to hear your thoughts on our mullet recipe video that follows this one !
AMAZING drone footage!! Where is this? That castle perched on the rocks is stunning
👍
What is that building on top of the island?, Castle? Jail? Absolutely awesome!
Great video as always Joe. You ever consider doing a freediving/spearfishing courses/days??? I know I'd be keen and I'm sure alot of others would be too
Nice fishing! Wonder if you'll find a nice cod for us all to enjoy this winter?!
I hope so! But easier said than done... We're that bit too far south we need a good cold winter!!
Great video as always I'm guessing you can no longer take the boat out, I know my club on the coast has said no using/ work on boats allowed
Can you still shore dive
Thanks again! Not sure about taking the boat out... will probably play it safe and just shore dive anyway for now 👌
Another great video Joe, beautiful chunkies.
Nice to see the new toy - Cherokee Fast in action 😄 - as the pollack run off a bit as you say do you let the reel run or just give some more slack?
Also which belt stringer do you use please? (Saw in one of your summer vids)
Thanks 👍 For this dive I loosened the drag before each dive and let the line freespool as the fish ran. After a few seconds the fish give up and can pull them in.
very nice joe. at what temperature is the water there now ? here in basque country 11... is not the best seasson with those cold waters right now. not too much fish
if the water ia 7 degreea how sick is the wetsuit that you use ? 9 mm ?
On this dive the water was 8C. For this boat dive we were in beauchat 8mm smoothskin suits. Agreed the fish are thinning out, and here they are more mark specific than usual 👌
Great video guys.I wonder how thick your wetsuits are?and can I make this recipe with Mullets?take care.
Yes you can! It would be delicious! We were wearing 8mm beauchat smooth skins from the spearfishing store 😊
Come to New England!
Great shot on that 3rd fish Joe. So do you bleed your fish ? It's as simple as pulling a single gill out and improves the eating quality no end. Either side just ensure its always the gill closest to the throat.
Thanks! I bleed mullet and bream which have prominent blood line. I've never noticed the difference with white fish like pollock.
@@JoePkSpearfishing Cheers from Australia. Our whitest fish here is a coral trout. Bleeding them makes a huge difference especially for freezing. Anyone who says otherwise hasnt shot many 😉 Thanks Joe
And im sick while you eating this tasty polack.. i have quinsy 40+ temp 2nd day now.. tot im gonna go do some diving cos we are on lockdown all country till 1st of feb.. im so jelly.. i know one thing from when i was a kid and its fresh fish taste better in winter time any fish .. and does cressi fast floating? Never had a chance to test it yet
Hope you get well soon mate! Yes you're right about the taste.. Cressi sinks slowly like most guns, but as you can see it's rather affective!
@@JoePkSpearfishing thanks mate feel better now no temp just sore throut. Did test for covid cos GP wont take me in so negative im safe 😀 anyway do more vids 😁 im realy waiting for shalow watter divings winter spring and summer time and see the diff..
And do some aducational short video about how to find all kind of species in low watters up to 2 meters.. like is ot better rocky or sandy weeds are always good all know that .. just share some info si we can be as good as you some say 😊 🤜🤛 cooking i know reeeeeeealy good simple and delish. Maybe this year i will do a video but thia youtube not for me but if i do i will show you some recep. of one of my dishes
Great vid! Hello Spearo’s, does anyone know what gun is being used?
The gun used is the cressi cherokee fast 90. www.spearfishingstore.co.uk/cressi-cherokee-90cm-speargun.html
Barcley delivered the gun the other day and it’s a beaut! Can you recommend any Fins mr Pike?
🤟🏻
Nice work Joe - that gagging noise you made...is that something you often use to attract fish? I've never tried
Hi Ross, the gagging sound can be very successful at attracting fish during an aspetto. I often use it diving a big area where fish are spread out, or if the visibility is poor.
Is it just me or would we all like to see a collaboration with our guy Joe Pk, John from Fishlocker and the northerner himself, Hazey from Haze Outdoors! That would be a cracking team of outdoor enthusiasts! Hopefully after lockdown is over! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 🇬🇧 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Personally I can't stand john from fishlocker he always takes things far to seriously and is 99% moody and or miserable, a very depressing watch 😴
@@bobgeldof3751 well my grandfather told me to each their own. I do not agree, but I respect your opinion.
Size of those fillets, I think you need a fish kettle to deep fry them in instead! 🙈
Great video again Joe but do me a favour and ask Chef Barclay to invest in a thermostatically controlled deep fat fryer before he sets fire to the kitchen! In 32 years in fire service, mostly in your neck of the woods, I’ve seen too many tragedies through frying in open pans of this type. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing but even so. . . . . 🚒🚑. Keep up the good work and thanks.
:)
🤜🤛😃😃😃👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣🔔👈
Are you switching to full Beuchat rig? Why?
Hi Burhaneddin. Barcley runs the local spearfishing store, and so I often am lucky enough to try new gear! I am not necessarily switching to full beauchat. More just trying gear. I was impressed by the smooth skin from beauchat 👌
@@JoePkSpearfishing I liked the fact that your gear "matches" :)
What about the gun itself, what did you think of it?
@@BurhanMuntasser I agree it is nice to have the top and bottom matching. The cressi fast is a slick piece of kit. Easily as good as the pathos saragos carbon I had before which is about £100 more expensive. You do need to tune the flopper though.
Hi. I enjoyed the work a lot! I've been trying to research for a CZcams vid similar to yours that explains the topics in this vid. 👨⚕️ That description at 1:13 is my favorite. Your explanation for sure reminds me of the content from Dr. Ethan. His videos are useful and I learned a lot for my practice! He is a great med student in Europe!
You should check out his CZcams out and give the med student a like! ➡️ #DoctorEthan
You and Chef Barcley are a killer combo. Keep at it fellas!
