- A song open to so many interpretations..One of their best work on this album...I think its because each and every one of them contributes a gentle touch of magnificence.. If you liked this video don't forget to hit thumbs up and please subscribe to my channel!!!
I tied myself with wire
To let the horses roam free
Playing with the fire
Until the fire played with me
The stone was semi-precious
We were barely conscious
Two souls too smart to be
In the realm of certainty
Even on our wedding day
We set ourselves on fire
Oh God, do not deny her
Its not if I believe in love
If love believes in me
Oh, believe in me
At the moment of surrender
I folded to my knees
I did not notice the passers-by
And they did not notice me
Ive been in every black hole
At the altar of the dark star
My bodys now a begging bowl
Thats begging to get back, begging to get back
To my heart
To the rhythm of my soul
To the rhythm of my unconsciousness
To the rhythm that yearns
To be released from control
I was punching in the numbers at the ATM machine
I could see in the reflection
A face staring back at me
At the moment of surrender
Of vision over visibility
I did not notice the passers-by
And they did not notice me
I was speeding on the subway
Through the stations of the cross
Every eye looking every other way
Counting down til the pain would stop
At the moment of surrender
Of vision over visibility
I did not notice the passers-by
And they did not notice me - Hudba
I thinks this is probably one of U2's deepest songs and most meaningful lyrics they've ever written
You are absolutely right
yep
It's a very special song
I have a love hate relationship with u2 the same as a love hate relationship with this song
This song had the pieces to be great, but the performance in parts is flawed
U2- who were around for nearly 40 years when this song was written, seemed like they were second guessing themselves artistically on this song, on this album
despite all this: their (u2’s) song - the one that bono says that a band sings from beginning to end of a band's existence: it continues for a little bit longer
Agreed
How can this song be so old?? I only just discovered it and it's just as if it was written for today...!!! Love their humility and openness. Praise God for U2 and their special work.
1:01
It was I believe given by the Holy Spirit to convey a message to folk at tgere lowest point in this life .Jesus is saying there is a way it’s me I’m the way just surrender to me he believes in you when you have no hope , we are all failing in one way or another bug with Jesus by our sides he helps us gives us the strength to live infact Jesus said without him you are not truly alive . To me this is the one greatest songs ever written . Jesus crossed the road in Samaria the Samaritan needed help but Jesus is a Jew in a non Jewish land where in samara there was hostility to Jews still he crossed the road ! And he never stops all we have to do is surrender
This song has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life. ❤
I hear ya, my friend. Be well.
Me too…
The longevity of U2 is just outstanding. My dad's followed them since the 1980s, and I've been a fan since the early 2000s. They've explored so many genres, excelled in so many ways, but underneath it all they're true artists and masters of their craft.
This is another classic that shows just how U2 can bridge decades and generations without ever losing sight of themselves.
As always, kudos to the masters.
Yes. One of their very best, Blades. Fan since 1984. So many masterpieces.
My dad got me in to them, he was a fan in the 80’s. Im now 15 and love them
Same here brother. My dad introduced me to them at a very young age. Have been my all time favorite band ever since. Consistent. No band scandals. No known drug abuse. Just pure music. I don’t give a fuck about Bono’s politics. He’s a human. He’s entitled to opinions and to express those. Doesn’t take away from the fact that this band is amazing and always has and will be.
I have to listened to U2 for 30 years and they have brought up every emotion. I have to stay away for a while and dont go for the superhits. I love this song because it is not a popular hit and means something personal for me.Mellow and techinically brilliant. I am a great fan but even a stonger critic and to get this reaction makes them brilliant.
I love this song. All Glory to OUR FATHER, Jesus
One of their most overlooked and underrated songs, easily.
One of the most overlooked tunes of the Noughties
agreed
Not a massive U2 fan but this is easily one of the most well-written songs ever
Anyone listening May 2021 to this beautiful song? U2 soothes my soul..
June 2021
i get the chills every time i listen to it...
That guitar solo is so simple and yet so beautiful. Pure magic...
The best song by far on the album.. And one of the best songs of their career. I've seen them so many times all over the world, have met them and wish they would take more chances with their music as they get older... Soul crushing stuff!!!!
I am with you. It seems like with the last two they wanted to create the next big album with some big concept. Rather they should just go and create music without agenda. That’s where their true power lies.
Unknown caller is really good as well but I agree w u.
@@MartinhoIsidroCorreia love it, creat the music without an agenda. I could listen to this song all day long, it's like a revival.
In their recent catalogue (2000 onwards), there is not a single song to compare to this, would it to God that they took their time and decided to release a whole album full of such a greatness. But instead of this we have to content ourselves with "basic U2" (just for the sake of comparison, the lead single of the album is "Get On Your Boots"- mediocre at best).
I played this song on repeat after my mother died, the grief was overwhelming and this song just seemed to say it all.
So sorry for your loss 😢
Only people who have followed their career from the very beginning and have grown up listening and loving all their songs, can appreciate the quality of this very special song. They finished their concert in Athens on 3rd September with it and 80,000 people almost cried on it. U2 are just a huge band, either some people like them or not. I feel blessed for being their fan for about 25 years and also for watching them playing live some days ago in Athens.
I'm not a fan of many of U2's songs... But this song is just a musical masterpiece. I will give credit where it's due. And U2 definitely deserves credit for an excellent song here.
11 years later, still listening
I try to listen to every day
Proof that U2's rawness wasn't isolated to the 80s.
proof that their musicianship was. Musically this is about as raw as an adult contemporary record
@@milkcarton6654 You have to listen with your heart to this one.
@@milkcarton6654 This is hymn-like. It's nearly religious in its sentiment and the music perfectly melds with the lyrics. It is raw in the overall vibe. It was also a one-take recording.
Powerful, yet tranquil. U2 is one of those rare bands whose instrumentation are as emotion boosting as their lyrics.
A brilliant song. My gran died around this time so the whole album resonates as I played it constantly between hospital visits.
I think they are always ahead of their time. I listen to this 9 years later and it sounds as fresha and suitable as if it cam out today!
Love their dancey beats!
They have many hit songs but not all get played on radio. But fans get the whole albums!!
This is our little gem U2 fan's. ❤️
A big gem, hidden in the enormous U2 legacy
Incredíble song, incredíble voice... INCREDIBLE'S U2!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏🔝🔝🔝🔝
One of the best 5 U2 songs of all times.
what about u2 shadows and tall trees? number two?
"i tied myself with wire to let the horses run free"" heroin 😢. "I was playing with the fire 🔥 until the fire 🔥 played with me". "Ive been in every black hole" "i was punching in the numbers at the atm machine i could see in the reflection a face staring back at me" " i did not notice the passers by and they did not notice me 😢 these lyrics resonate with me so much. I did however get the moment of surrender. Thank god and the universe. Love this song its sad but filled with hope. Anyone thats struggling i send you pure love. ❤❤❤
I've never been one to pay attention to lyrics, but I've never needed to with U2. Their music itself touches my heart and whispers to my soul in a way words could never describe.
This song has moved me to tears...RIP Clarence Clemons.
I cry everytime I listen to this song. So powerful...
Gaia Prunotto agree to you on this
Gaia Prunotto me too.. soo deep and so sad.. I just love it, just love it.. 😔😘😍❤
me too
kuddos it very well song bwell
Gaia Prunotto yes , this melody hits me the same . Powerful .
One of the best songs ever. Greeting from Spain.
What a song! Still getting the chills
How can anyone not be moved by this, transported by this....?
there is no end to the power of love
Truth, Amen
This song should be painted in the sky with the light of the stars
That is a breathtaking comment. I continually strive to find a way to describe this song and do it justice and what you said is absolute perfection. Just like MoS. ❤
@@u2htdaab thank you for such kind words.
'We set our souls on fire, a god would not deny her, it's not if i believe in love, if love believes in me, oh believe in me" Just genius!
I read that line just as Bono was singing it. Absolutely beautiful. ❤
Such a poignant song for me as my gran was dying at the time in hospital. However, even those emotions at the time cannot completely explain why this song is so exquisite. The whole album is a classic album that needs playing in its entirety.
It's a work of art
The moment of selflessness, I became alive
the rest of the album doesn't compare to this
One of my top ten favorites, and I've heard a LOT of U2. Especially the harmonizing in the chorus. Wow.
The harmonizing ruins it. And it's totally not U2 sounding. More like Destinys Child or some r'n'b crap. What's your favorite album? All That You Can't Leave Behind BS?
@@dragmio lmao U2 can pull off any genre.
i could listen this song 4653475548745384570 times more without getting bored
This song is epic, I also love Unknown Caller
Both are brilliant, but both lack more pronounced Bono in the chorus. They would be even better then!
Rolling Stone declared this the 166th greatest song of all time.
“ 166👀”
The first time I listened to this song reminded me of the first time I heard Bad. It was such an indescribable moment that I cannot put into words.
TheYankeefly26 i'm in love with Bad,each word in this song seems to be made for me...us...my fave song of U2 is them complete discography, things are clear ;)
nice comment mate !
I do agree with you two guys 🙏🏻
if it effects you as much as bad did once it shows that just like U2 you lost your soul in time.
I think both songs express one common feeling and that's why both of them can affect you in that way.
Je ne sais pas se qu'il raconte mais ce grand messieurs me sort dans des gouffre pas possible à chaque fois que je les coûte je lui dit merci u2
Every time, every single time I listen to this song, I can't help but get goosebumps. One of the most significant songs of their career
this is what u2 is all about,SONGS THAT TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER PLACE,this song is so beautiful .
Beautiful...
Great song....the verses are so poetic and the chorus is so heartfelt. Not quite sure how anyone in their right mind could dislike this wonderful song!
There are better known songs for U2. There are songs that are musically easier to listen to by U2 then this. There are more dynamic, uptempo, and more exciting U2 songs than this.
There may never have been though a better U2 song than this one.
I just cant listen to it very often, it's so raw and painful, and reminds me of a person I loved I can never see anymore. But that's not why it's so great.
It's great because it connects most deeply with people everywhere who are looking to connect with the most profound. That's what makes it.
Too soft, mainstream, r'n'b sounding chorus ruins it.
@@dragmio "mainstream"? lol
I never listen to things like this on the radio, and haven't you yourself called the song brilliant in other comment?
One take recording. Eno called it a miracle. When I hear it, I lose myself for a while.
Masterpiece
where is the miracle? do you know what a miracle is? jesus walked on water, that is a miracle.!
Not many can do that .and not many know that unless you know your U2 history
jesus raised himself from the dead. i'd say he did it. he performed that miracle. only the son of man can pull that off...
its tape. no miracle. voices,no miracle. i dont see the miracle. it must be ignorant atheists talking about some sort of miracles. its a song right? so where is the miracle? and they say theists are superstitious!
Sounds like a journey in to sin, then seeking redemption, then finally seeking and finding salvation...The Holy Spirit is sent and received, as the people pass by, not observing this transcendence happening right there on the street...he became a spiritual form only...✝✝🙏
I did not notice the passerby’s and they did not notice me
if you’re going though this world day by day alone, no family, no friends, just you - this line hits in a different way. It’s as if I’m a ghost in this world.
a moment for my self to relax and listen to this song.
What a beautifully deep song.
The struggle to be open, begging to be real, begging to get past ourselves and see ourselves in connection to everyone around us, the vision over visibility, seeing past everyone's external skin "bodies" and seeing what unites us all, our loves our fears. We have far more in common with each other than we allow ourselves to feel because we love our separateness. It's gives us a sense of control, of security, even though it's a false sense because ultimately it's lonely in the end to be a soul who keeps their heart guarded, to keep a certain distance, to never let a person fully in.
And we hate it in ourselves but too afraid to relinquish it.
Very well said.
AdventuresOfTheKanFam fart
it's about 2 junkies
Not to overlooked it makes top 500 songs by Rolling Stone magazine ever top tune
L
One of the best songs ever written ... ts hard to find a more sincere song and committed band alive today or for that matter in the past - U2 = force of nature and most defiinitely - meant to be!
not everybody thinks the criteria for the best song ever written, should be that it is very dark painful and lacking in fun and cheer. its not a good single made for radio play. it has a different life. very good but the best song written are your own feelings for it and thats fine. i think the best song ever written is bob dylan's "like a rolling stone" whY? because on many levels it is the greatest modern rock song ever written. we are going to disagree and thats ok.
ps u2 were never a hit single kind of band. their popularity and success was not built on single hits and pleasing the masses, they never really made it until years and years of touring and five albums later....with joshua tree, til then they were undergound and were akward on radio , with no where to fit it, but they kept pushing in faith, in a sense though they have become a brand and a super band they still struggle to fit into any genre, rock is dying but u2 transcend trends and have something to say, like em or hate them they are a huge success and you have to listen to what they say like it or not.
That moment when you FINALLY found the song you were searching half your life for😌
Flavia, I remember you every single time I hear this song. Don't know even why I'm writing this... you've really made a permanent statement in my life. Thank you very much for crossing my path.
Love you.

Just,,,blown away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!one of the world best ,,U2.Come to Norway!!!!
This should be played at every U2 show... So relevant today...
I love the intro for this song
ALL DEEP U2 FEELINGS IN THIS SONG.
Poetry in motion.....
Yes....it is...a very very good Song....makes me smile when i listen to it...every day...
Último dia do ano vamos seguir ouvindo U2 muita paz e alegria pra todos nós
One of the greatest songs of all time I will use it on my channel playlist!
Addiction definitely ruins the "rythm of your soul" and brings you to your knees ~ POWERFUL song!
Surely this song is about the naivety of youth, looking back at it , and the reality of what the love of a good woman will bring to even the harshest of a man. That moment of surrender.
my soul was begging for this song today
This is in my top ten favorite U2 songs; next to "Bad," it's their most underrated tune. To me, this song is more tragic than "One" or "With Or Without You."
Most U2 songs are so underrated, it really hurts :c
U2 isn't for everybody. It's precious. I often try to show somebody the beauty of a U2 song, and it makes me sad when they just don't get it. But also, that's the beauty in it; not everybody has the luck, patience or courage to understand those songs. You often have to listen to them multiple times before you discover how otherworldly they are. For example, until the end of the world: it is so very different from this, but they both share this rare and raw beauty and poetry only U2 could ever give us.
One of the most bueautiful song ever
at the moment of surrender oh no........ !!!! this is so unbelievable song. simple and perfect it is reality
one of the greatest moment of the u2 360 tour show. touching
I love this song, it got me through a really rough time in my life which i thought i would never gwt through, thanx u2, epic, amazing song!
Hope your OK now
La magie U2, son, rythme, voix, tout y est...

I agree lovely song
best u2 song of all time imo =P
Love it, so powerful and one of the greatest songs ever.
Lo mejor de lo mejor..... fenomenal me encanta ......Moment of Surrender..... U2

Actually declared the 36th song of all time :)
This song plays at Ross (the clothing store) everyday. I work there. It's the one song I look forward to hearing every single day.
That bass!
Weird how I didn't really notice it before you mentioned it. But now I can't unhear it!

Nunca te cansas de oír U2
Isaiah 63: 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem and be glad with her, all ye that love her:rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:
This song speaks to me in so many ways.
eu adorei a homenagens que ele fizeram no rio de janeiro para as crianças que foram mortas
homenagem foi linda com essa musica !!!!!
Adam does a very good job as well as the whole band.
Beautiful.
Love this song
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?
saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb?
saith thy God.
ISiah 63:9
Una canción sublime, es delicioso escucharla.
DLA ICH MUZYKI I TWÓRCZOŚCI WARTO ŻYĆ BYĆ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jeden Tag, jede Stunde, jede Minute...der pure Wahnsinn ♥
Jesus sometimes when I hear this song it helps me some how up in this situation I find myself in with weeping tears up in the the mind of Christ with your Spirit of Truth working like you do since I received the love of the knowledge of the truth through your angel of the church of Philadelphia with the key of David love in revelation 3:7-13 now I can see the real Jesus the longing of my souls travail now that I know you Lord God Almighty the winds blows your name Jesus El as your word to me now speaks
Sensational...no other words can describe this.
Thank you U2 for this amazing work of art.
This song was stuck in my head when I awoke from being in a coma in 2021.
