I just got a new boat but now my wife is taking care of our granddaughter on her days off. She bought the boat with her over time pay and will not be happy with me going fishing and leaving her with that child. Almost three and she has been tossed out of three day cares, sigh.

Cool, ive always wanted to fish bass.
Bass' lips are super thick, once you catch one you'll see why you need to set the hook on them usually instead of just reeling into them like with trout.

I just have to facepalm when people set the hook so hard. It's hard on your gear, and obviously the fish. I've fished with those types of people before, and while we get the same amount of fish, theirs have half an inch hole in their mouth. Funny thing is, I've never met a lip gouger that keeps fish. They, so far, always do catch and release.
They must somehow justify ripping the crap out of a fish's mouth, but let it go like nothing happened.

Its ffunny to see how lots of the bass fishers dont know how to tame a fish . Its like cast , hook set as hard as you can and reel in as fast as you can .. .
I set the hook like that when i have to drive 2 fat hooks through their mouths.
Oh, and reeling them in as quickly as possible accomplishes 2 things:
#1 - He gets the fish landed, without it coming off the hook.
And #2 - the fish gets in faster without wearing it down to complete exaustion (which becomes dangerous for the fish) and it also doesnt put near as much stress on the fish too (which can become even more dangerous)
I fly fish just because I love it but I love seeing people get out and fish however they like to and have a good time. Can’t stand seeing disrespectful people fishing though like what happens on crowded rivers during salmon season a lot of times

You never grab the line with your hands until the fish is far enough from the water. The guy that caught the flat head cats with that mini rod would have lost it had he grabbed the line. To the guy that broke the rod, the reel still works. If u use the line in your hands u can't rely on the drag of the reel. To the guy who caught the large mouth with his hands, kudos to you for thinking outside of the box. There is no rod, reel, or line.
if he would have used his rod then the line would have rubbed where it broke and then it would have snapped the line

I know it seems like a good idea to put a camera on your hat, hands free, great angle, but as we can see at 7:00, & in SO many other videos, it just doesn't make for a quality video! I don't know too many folks that hold really still while reeling in a flailing fish, especially one that's upwards of 10lbs! Mount it on a bimini pole, someone else's cap, a designated hat camera guy, your passed out cousin Vitos hat, anything but your own flailing head! Thank you : )

How do ice fisherman Know where the structure is? is it locally Knowledge or is there a special sounder you can use?
Local knowledge, GPS coordinates or simply moving around. For example, you can drill let's say 10 holes in a straight line over 100 yards. Check the depth in each one to determine any irregularities.
I fish in a boat and ice fish. I cover water in the summer and mark everything on my GPS for the winter.

Why do bass fishermen find it necessary to set the hook so hard? I live where it's only Salmon or Steelhead and I just lift my rod or twitch it sideways a bit. I also keep my hooks very sharp.
Bass lips are hard to hook it into there not real thin so when it bites you have to set the hook good so it won’t escape on you
