What If Humans Tried To Land On Saturn

  • In 2017, NASA’s Cassini probe sent us our closest view of Saturn to date. If you wanted to take a closer look at the ringed planet, you would have to travel 1.2 billion kilometers... but the long journey would be the least of your worries. Once there, you'd realize there’s no solid surface to land on and descend through dangerous electrical currents, deadly winds, and unthinkable pressure. If you could somehow make it through all of that, then a blistering hot core made of iron and nickel awaits you at the planet’s center-along with a surprise, as scientists have yet to discover whether Saturn’s core is liquid or solid. So maybe it’s best we leave Saturn exploration to uncrewed probes after all.

    • @kermitthemutantlevitatingf7836
      @kermitthemutantlevitatingf7836 Před 3 lety +11

      A series about this would be pointless. There are two possible outcomes if you tried to land on a planet in our solar system. If you were to attempt to land on one of the four inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars), nothing remarkable would happen at all. You would land on the surface of the planet. If you were to attempt to land on one of the four outer planets, you wouldn't because they don't even have a surface. They're just balls of gas going around an even bigger ball of gas. You'd be vaporized within the first few minutes of entering the atmosphere.

    At 00:58 seems wrong. I believe that it is the entire diameter of the ring (outside edge to outside edge) that is almost as far as the distance from earth to the moon. Something like 170,000 to 180,000 miles, while earth to moon is around 240,000 miles. It occurred to me since you can fit all the planets in the solar system between earth and the moon at it's furthest point, but you clearly can not fit all the planets into the width of the band of the ring. I believe the 12 million km circumference is wrong as well. I am also suspicious that there are other inaccuracies in this that should probably be addressed...

    im sad that there cant be a futuristic place until i live, we all could work to make it to a planet with solid ring and somehow find newer kinds of physics and probably other living beings and ourselfs in the parallel universe, and have a darling in the franxx kind of a setting
