Haha, totally get it! We had the same concern at first. There are so many robots out there that you play with for a couple of days and then forget about. That’s why we’ve been working hard this past month to make KT2 more engaging and explore more possibilities. Now, our KT2 comes with two main modes: the Desktop Pet Mode, where it interacts with you, and the Game Mode. Our Kickstarter backers will get 99 built-in games for free, with the goal of making sure you have enough fun to last at least three days! We hope this keeps you entertained for a good while! 😄
@@Kame-robotics It will probably fail, unless you ensure, this will become a community driven projects. Most deskpet projects fail. Funnily enough a simple cube with a display that lets you implement some custom animations and share them with other owners does better than many others. There are even people selling custom hats for these things on etsy.😅

Yes, that's a good point! We do have edge detection, and even if KT2 gets damaged from a fall, it can be easily repaired by the user.

I was baffled when it said it was "powerful." When I think of a powerful robot, I think of a search and rescue robot that can lift a car off of a person. Not a toy. And exactly what problem does being more powerful solve for this specific robot? What advantage does it give? Besides making it more expensive for no good reason.

Neat! I can see the effort you've put into this project. I highly recommend adding a camera and incorporating some edge AI capabilities. Without it, it just looks like a PCB with four servo motors.

it might not be missing. It's likely the actions you can add to it are AI generated. just like other robots on funding prooojects.

You're right. We need agile and durable robots. The KT2 is as agile as a kung fu master, but we've simplified it down to just a dozen parts. So even if it gets damaged, you can easily repair it yourself.

@@Kame-robotics I would love to see many variations of this over time, perhaps one that can pick up and carry small objects.
Agree I see this as a good base platform but should include mount points for future additions or "modules" to extend functionality. With cam you can do object detection and potentially integrate with things like gpt4o for analyzing scenes or YOLO models for quickly detecting objects or slam for localization (most of this would need to be offloaded from the on board processor but would greatly extend the versatility). I'm making my own little servo based hexapod walker here just to tinker around with things but idea is to add sensors and more intelligence/features over time.

I tend to just tinker around on things but don't document process well most of the time which makes it hard for me or others to recreate so I'll definitely try to record some of the process of the build. Design is always a lot of iteration so it can be hard to figure out how to condense that down into something video digestible, but for the build and some bits about how to wire and program it might be worth putting together a "proper CZcams video" (most of mine just clips from flying quads or other random RC or electronics projects, but usually just tests rather than edited content).

@@Kame-robotics here's another thing; people aren't just going to click random links you give them especially if your main marketing plan isn't on CZcams, where I can't just stay in the app I'm already using and watch what I'm going to watch. If I really WAS interested, I'd listen and then if I wanted to see more, I'd check the Kickstarter.
When you sell something, you're not just making a display... You're creating a *"need"* that motivates people to buy it.
You adjust it to your market. Are you selling to EVERYONE, or a specific age group? That adjusts how it should look or the energy it needs.
Showing shots of people using it during their job, or just holding it in their hand if they can carry it with them, and overall above ANYTHING if you don't want people to just leave the video or skip.. you turn this video into an Ad on CZcams so it shows up on people's videos before they watch what they're here to find in the first place, and you make a solid hook.
You don't want to say anything that's literally just a fat marketing ploy in the first few seconds, you want to maybe even just start with a single shot of the product, have it wait for a second, and then have the product/user do something so you coax them into watching more.
You don't want a presentation. That is terribly boring for people with lower attention-spans.
You make the pace of the video get stronger as the Ad goes on, and then they'll progressively get more interested. You won't hold everyone's attention due to people having subjective tastes/reasons for buying and a video they'd just really want to skip to, but you'll hold a lot more interest in the people who end up getting drawn in watching through, forgetting to skip, and/or who are even just playing their phones in the background while they do other stuff.

If you could design a custom AI agent specifically tailored to coding this lil guy via text-code generation to make it significantly easier for your average joe to program it beyond just basic tasks and functions, then included some sort of "snap-connect system" for the back almost like a lego piece or even something as simple as magnets and created a community where people could upload various useful or fun stl files of 3d printable connection pieces and code to mod it and extend its capabilities to a whole new level. You would have the best robot pet on the market by miles, and it's open sourced.

Good point! We've got a Discord group where you can share your unique KT2 games and how you decorate your KT2. We're also working on an achievement and reward system to encourage sharing and interaction!

Awesome! Just some things:
1. Make it super cheap. Like third world cheap.
I'm tired of those cool humanoid mini robots that are actually low quality and can barely be programmed and yet I can't afford.
2. Make it modular, with swappable pieces: car wheels, tank wheels, cameras of all kinds, claws, propellers to fly and swim, additional exoskeleton to enable a second set of pro-swappables...
3. Endless retro compatibility.
4. Make it open source. All of it. Once everyone can design and code swappables for it, the project will be unstoppable.
5. Give it a C interface with Python bindings so people can write their own binding and code in whatever lang they like.
6. Multilingual. Not everyone who wants a robot knows English.
Those were my ideas for a robot project, if I could make one, but I guess you have way more chance to make it happen than me.

Follow by kickstarter page it looks as fake, causing you provide photo of internals but in description other cpu was mentioned. I think it was a photo of some phone with broadcom cpu. Also for RC servo there is no way to provide feedback force and position, it can be dangerous to robot mechanics.
Hi Boris, the robot is NOT fake, and we are not using phone CPU. as a small startup team, we are doing in-house rendering of the products, to better showcase the minimal parts that made this robot, so that this could be a good entry level toy even for kids to assemble, and we added a bit board texture onto the render, to call it a fake, really hurt us... and also, we'd be happy to offer you a test sample to see if KT2 can really recall the positions, we are kickstarting it, with full integrity on the table.

You are right. Initially, we tried doing the voiceovers ourselves, but we found that the results were not as good as we hoped. So, we switched to using AI-generated voices. Many people pointed out that the AI voiceovers made our project feel less authentic. As a result, we have re-made the videos featuring our founder explaining everything in person.
