The cost of EV batteries are upto 80% of the total cost of the vehicle and on an average are lasting only for about 3 years or less. Which means for every 3 years we would end up buying a new vehicle. A viable alternative is sodium ion batteries but that is still in a debatable stage. After the program I have asked several question to resource person on regarding battery charging loss, mechanical loss , output and efficieny in comparing with fossil fuel vehicles, energy balance and entropy negativity, battery recycling management, hazardness of battery chemical and its effect on environment, mining of raw material and it's environmental impact etc.. He didn't answered me anything. Finally he accepted this electric vehicle technology has drawbacks than it's merit. Your opinion is very true. People believe that since there is no emission from EV vehicles it is very clean. But in many charging station electricity is produced using a generator which operates by diesel. So purpose of EV is not served.
Sir, cabin foot print and natural resource depletion is there during production process. However with respect to its operation, if we can recharge the vehicle using renewable energy source, it will surely have positive impact. I have attended an electric vehicle training program. After the program I have asked several question to resource person on regarding battery charging loss, mechanical loss , output and efficieny in comparing with fossil fuel vehicles, energy balance and entropy negativity, battery recycling management, hazardness of battery chemical and its effect on environment, mining of raw material and it's environmental impact etc.. He didn't answered me anything. Finally he accepted this electric vehicle technology has drawbacks than it's merit. Being an thermal expert this an electric vehicle technology create environmental damage.

Don't believe this guy. Li-ion batteries are >90% recyclable. So once we reach a threshold amount of mined raw materials, we can stop mining totally and rely on recycled batteries. Please research this and get educated.

How are you comparing directly with petrol? Once you burn petrol are you able to renew it? Lithium batteries can be recycled 95% just like iron. For your information you are also extracting iron ore and taking iron. Once extracted it can be reused. So can you stop using iron in regular life?
Hussain, you failed to consider running carbon emissions. If energy storage is improved,solar can power EV's with minimum carbon footprint. There are promises like sodium ion battery etc... need to be optimistic on this....

Your opinion is very true. People believe that since there is no emission from EV vehicles it is very clean. But in many charging station electricity is produced using a generator which operates by diesel. So purpose of EV is not served.
Sir, cabin foot print and natural resource depletion is there during production process. However with respect to its operation, if we can recharge the vehicle using renewable energy source, it will surely have positive impact. Also if batteries are recycled to maximum extent, it will surely be beneficial in environmental aspects. We cannot fully criticise the technology sir.

Only during production of batteries there is pollution. But no kind of pollution during usage. Maintenance is also not needed. So pollution is less than that of using petrol cars. See the greater good.
EV production pollution is 30% higher than Normal cars but it will produce less emission in its lifespan compare to normal cars.
