Really great job on this ,my friend ! Back in the 50's when I was small, I had an uncle who drove one of those in the oil field. I got to ride on it occasionally with him. One thing I remember about the track ( when it's at eye level and stopped a few feet from you, you REMEMBER what they looked like !). As I recall, only the track pads were different from what you've got. However, not much. Just use graphite on your finger (really!) and coat the track pads surface completely. Using something like Rub-n-Buff silver on the high spots. This will give you the perfect look and fading. I don't build in 1/48 scale but this one has had my interest for some time and I'm happy watching you. so I don't have too !

When you end up building a japanese bulldozer it means you're fed up of Tigers & Panthers ;-)

Were you able to find where the exhaust is on this tractor during your research? I have this model but it's on hold for a bit. I've searched online photos, even the photos of the one in the museum and the caterpillar tractors this one was based upon but I can not find one picture that shows the exhaust outlet. There's a hole on the left side just in front of the operator's platform, does anyone know if that's the exhaust? Nice work on that model!!!

No sorry i can't help you. I looked at all the photos i could find but did not see any exhaust.

Thanks. It's gotta be there somewhere. I'll keep looking but thanks again. Nice rusting effect by the way.

thanks mate. I don't build a lot of 1/48 armor either but i loved the idea of doing the kit as something different. I did use the finger trick on the tracks but it seems not to have shown up in the video. When i was a kid someone in my hometown of Blackall had a later version on one of these and we once got to ride on it during floods. Great old machines and seemed to go forever.

scalemodelmania It's a very subtle effect. Just add more . You can wipe it off with a soft cloth.
I think you wanted to know about that photo of the 251 ausf D. It's from the "Second" 16 Panzer division in Russia in 1943. It's a well known photo and I found it in my Squadron Signal #21(?). The 251 in action. in fact there's a photo next to it of one before the Division was destroyed.

scalemodelmania something I forgot to mention was that it wasn't the last ! There was a "Third" 16th Panzer division, too. It fought in Normandy and used the same marking but "usually" a black outline to honor the the men of the first two incarnations of the division.
