😂😂😂😂. That is a Trail Fear I never thought of and now can not get out of my mind. So hilarious after. OMG. So excited for new and never been dug catholes. Great hiking and be safe you two.
It is beautiful until you have to hike through it. Hope you have safe travels ahead. Hot Springs awaits you with hot food, drinks and showers. You've got this.
Just caught your channel, and was wondering where you were with snow. Once I saw the views, I figured you were around NC somewhere. Will follow you and see when you get to my state of VT. Familiar with the NJ section, that I have hiked at an earlier stage of my life. Wish I could do it again. May you stay safe & comfortable through your journey.
Yes, stretching is a great idea! The path is a challenge to trek through, you’ll be better prepared through getting the body a good few stretch routines. 🏃♀️🌿🧘🏼🙏
YS “experienced greatest fear on the AT” - non-hiker fan waiting… thinking… OMG snake, bear attack, hypothermia, falling off cliff… YS “digging up someone else’s cat hole” 😮😂😂😂 - non-hiker fan “yep that’s bad” 😂
I will tell the truth.. I skip forward past stories about holes in the ground or similar. Based on the title and thumb I thought it was an accident! Whew.
What a beautiful day to be in the Smokies!! I had lunch at that same spot in 2022. Can’t beat the views there. Are you kiddin me with the cat hole??? Yuk!!!
My dream is to do a Thru hike of the AT. Sadly, doing some research, Ive learned that dogs, even leashed ones, are not permitted in the Smokies. Safety 1st so understandable. My dog goes everywhere with me & it’s just me. So, I don’t know if a thru hike will ever go from a dream to a dream come true. Now I’m living vicariously through all you vloggers kind enough to share your adventures with us here on YT
I’ve thought I’d do it this way. When I get to the smokies I’d rest for 2 days and board my dog with a local friend. (Helps to live in NC) but there are people who board pers for folks going thru the smokies. Hit the smokies hard at Fontana Dam and get thru that beautiful area as fast as s possible. Davenport Gap. Link back up with my dog/kid immediately. 71 miles. If I get several 15 mile days , depending on snow, ice, temperatures then I’d been reunited in 5 days. ,, if you want to there is a way.
The company is called Melanzana. Unfortunately you can only purchase them in person by appointment in Leadville, CO. If you’re lucky you can find one online for resale if someone isn’t trying to price gouge you on Poshmark. But essentially it’s just a grid fleece - Lightheart Gear and Sambob make the exact same type of hoodie.
Cats holes.... Even úsed r just life out on trail. At some point u won't even thínk of it !!!! Aftr the AT the PCT the CDT, the GWD, the AZT and so forth potty is like a dog ya go kick dirt over a good stomp n off ya go. Your mind is on the trail
I went hiking today on my local mountain. Hitting the trail early, around 4:00am all the snow was frozen. Finally reached 8 thousand feet and kept hiking about 5 miles up, by that time everything was warming up and so was the 3 feet of snow covering the trail. Had to turn around because my speed was reduced to about one mile per hour compared to the 3 mph I was doing before the snow. Constant potholing. I am never hiking in snow again. Such a treacherous, cold and wet endeavor!
What are the odds of digging up someone’s cathole? In the scheme of the universe, was that random or planned?🤔 Seems you won the AT hilarious lotto. Not a Serendipitous moment. There are better ways to meet someone. Despite the woes of cooler weather, loose rocks, puddles, ice and snow, cheers to your gratefulness. I applaud your boldness. Bravo to the day’s triumph. Wishing you good health and good fortune. Happy Trails!
At this particular shelter I guess the odds were pretty high, unfortunately. Apparently this privy has been closed for THREE years and the shelter is very close to a busy gap in the smokies 😭
Yeah my daughter and I where hiking near Duncannon when she decided to find a hidden spot to pee and stepped right into someone’s crap they decided not to cover all stuck to her shoe we hiked on.
The privy at this shelter has been closed for 3 years and this shelter is super close to a very popular gap in the smokies. If it was going to happen to me anywhere this was definitely the place 🤣
Actually for the AT this is quiet normal. Yes normal. Considering not only the amount of people out there but also the lack of consideration to get as far as possible away from traveled areas. The hostels and shelters are full of stories this year about poop, from walking in it, setting in it, to putting their tent in it to almost anything you could imagine. Enjoy the journey.
This same exact thing happened to me on a weekend up on the long trail in 2019! It was horrendous! I had human shit on my boot!! Almost rather have dogshit on my shoe than that!!😝
You guys portray the AT as some Columbus exploring the new world kind of adventure. That place is a highway. Granted it doesn't make it an easy feat, but your certainly not going where no man has "gone" before.....
Do we? Because if you’ve watched our videos, you should have heard me say many times how excited I am to finally be doing and seeing things that I’ve seen MANY other people do before me. So, though we aren’t discovering anything that others haven’t discovered before us, we are discovering things that are new to us. Sorry if our excitement triggers you while you sit on your couch criticizing us. So since we’re exchanging criticisms, here’s mine to you…if you don’t like our excitement, you don’t have to watch our videos.

You’re welcome ahahaha ((I’m kidding I’m so sorry I put this in your brain)) 🤣
The Chuck slide was awesome as well

Y'all be safe!! Happy travels to ya!!✌🐢
Tough conditions today! Warmer weather ahead, keep on trekking. Ya, it’s a minefield out there 🤢
Condition tough amazing sound 😮

I guess this is why my body shuts down when we aren’t in the vicinity of a privy. It’s like it knowwwws!
Looks like a great day! Keep it up. Dianne
Thank you!
That privy has been closed for
at least three years…I’m sure it’s awful since it’s so close to NF Gap. Ugh! That’s terrible!
It was a poop minefield 🤣
I will tell the truth.. I skip forward past stories about holes in the ground or similar.

Great trail
Oh, good grief!

I wish I were kidding 🫠
Walking on Ice you need to channel your inner penguin and I have never seen a cat on the trail.
I was definitely waddling a lot 🤣
My biggest trail fear would be bears or a sketchy person. Great video of your adventures.
The video title was only half serious ahaha. My biggest trail fear is 100% ticks 😖

I know of two people that boarded their pups to get through the smokies! It takes some planning but it can be done 🙌🏼

Mi casa es su casa. Revision- Mi cathole is su cathole. Ice is scarier!

The odds are not that extreme when you think about how many people have been through there. Finding a privacy spot. , sorry that happened.
Me too lol 😖

I then hiked in 98, and someone was killed in a shelter the week before I got there. I saw many sad and scary things on the trail
😳😳
I'm eating lunch, so I definitely wasn't ready to hear about the cat hole. 🤮
me too 🤣
Shoulda put a poop warning ⛔️ ahaha that’s on me - my bad 🤣
@@heather__hikes 🤣😂🤣
Hopefully you already have a trail name cause I met a guy named Buried Treasure for doing the same thing lol
Ahaha yea I have a trail name already thankfully 😅
Yeah my daughter and I where hiking near

The worstttt 😫
Ya can't even figure the odds on that happening 😮.

A good reason for a hammock!!🤣

Real tragedy I wonder how many people have dug up your poop.
I would hope zero have 😖
Yo📌YOUR VIDEOS GO WAY TOO FAST
(I AM SURE YOU WOULD DISAGREE WITH ME)
Too fast in what way? Haha 🤣
@@heather__hikes I like your hikes so much that the videos go by very quickly
