    • @ringingsteel8729
      @ringingsteel8729 Před 5 lety +3

      Chuck Finley yep same with the m1a. I had an m1a socom, but it was shooting so high and to the right I couldn’t zero the optic, and have since sold it. Still have my PTR91 and DSA FAL though. The PTR91 being my favorite.
      If an AK has too much recoil then perhaps they need to get the sand out of their vaginas.

    • @ringingsteel8729
      @ringingsteel8729 Před 5 lety +4

      Marcel Armas the PTR91 has significant recoil. It’s not as bad as a milsurp bolt action though, and even those are more manageable than a 12 gauge, so I don’t know why people cry honestly. The recoil can also be mitigated by a decent brake and buffer, but I absolutely love G3 pattern rifles, and all roller-delayed guns for that matter.
      The C308 I heard mixed reviews on, and opted for the PTR91 instead. The good news is PTR makes the receiver either way, but I figured the extra money was worth all new parts, diopter sights, and paddle mag release.

    I'm so glad I watched your videos Rob Ski, my AK was my first working gun (I built an ar, but it had issues so I set it aside temporarily to save up some AK money. I sold all my airsoft stuff and got myself an Rh10. They came out with a different model which was a lot cheaper than the model you reviewed and boy I wasn't disappointed. I did have those challenges and I still will, since my modification list isn't done yet (I'm a poor so it'll take some time) and I've learned to be handy with tools a lot more than I used to because of your advice. I got it knowing that I was going to have difficulties modifying the gun (so far nothing really difficult) and I ended up having a great time learning this stuff! The ak platform has turned into my favorite platform and I'm planning on 'building' an ak from a russian parts kit with a polish receiver. I'm not sure about the barrel yet, but i'm looking at a total of $1,500 all together compared to the rh10 that cost me $639 after everything. (The rh10 has never jammed on me yet, but I only have put almost 400 rounds in it since when I picked it up in August. Thank you so much for the advice Rob Ski. (Recoil also isn't bad at all, I got noodle arms and can handle it pretty good.) You are my favorite gun youtuber and I hope you have a merry christmas and a happy new year.

      For a basic, inexpensive, rugged, functional, utilitarian gun, it's hard to beat an AK, unless you were lucky enough to have gotten e.g. an SKS when they were selling at bargain prices. Yeah, it's harder to install diamond-and-gold grills and truck-nuts on an AK, the AK isn't going to look very pretty or delicate, and the AK doesn't pamper you with rose-scented puffs of air with each light recoil or anything like that, but it gets the job it's hired to do done efficiently and with little trouble and few complaints, and that's as much as anyone can fairly ask of a good, dependable tool.
      I'm a collector with a bunch of rifles including ARs, AKs, SKSs, Mosins, shotguns, etc. - almost every gun I've ever owned or fired has been a good weapon within its specific niche. I've never seen an effort to force a gun into a niche it isn't suited to go well (try to jam a bunch of aftermarket parts on an SKS to make it a wannabe AK? Failure.... Try to jam a bunch of aftermarket parts on an AK to make it a wannabe AR? Failure.... Try to get a bunch of cheap AR parts and replace the gas system and so on to try to make it a wannabe AK? Failure.... Try to soup up a basic Mosin-Nagant into a wannabe tacti-cool sniper rifle? Failure.... Use these guns the way they were intended to be used, and they're going to serve you well....)
      I'm not an internet tough guy - I'm kind of a geeky guy who does tech support for a living and who hasn't spent a day of his life at the gym or anything like that, and I really don't get the complaints about recoil - I've never had a problem with anything in my collection, and I've had friends and family - men, women, and children - shoot most of the guns I've owned, and the only ones I've seen anyone complain about recoil on were 12-gauge shotguns and Mosin-Nagants (only the guys complained about those, and only the guys shot them; the ladies and kids had no trouble with the AKs, SKSs, ARs, 8mm Mausers, 20-gauge shotguns, etc.... Of course, each of the shooters had their comfort zones with guns they were more comfortable shooting than others and most people I know enjoy shooting .22LR the most, but I figure that if perfectly normal women and children can fire AKs without complaining, then the average AR15 owner can, too.....)

      Who the hell needs to hit something 5 football fields away? Are the people commenting on here complaining that an AK-47 isn't ideal for hunting? No shit! AKs are made to f*ck up infantry in relatively close range 100-150 yards.

    Thanks for your channel!
    AK's are the mule of the gun world. They do the brunt of the work and keep doing it. Budget AK's are a great platform, I focus on the barrel: chrome lined and or hammer forged and make sure the front trunnion is not canted. The rest is doable. With Palmetto producing a good bargain AK and Wasser still a good barrel and basic parts platform my thoughts are you should have one good one if you're not an enthusiast. Open sites and 100 yards is what this gun is primarily made for in my opinion and does it as good as any. I have a CZ 527 in 7.62x39 to back my AK to share the ammo. The CZ is also milled for steel cased ammo. Shoots it moa all day long and will reach out accurately. Rant agreed!!!!!!! If you have the resources please try to do a review of the CZ 527 in 7.62x39 it is wonderful AK companion and just a great sporting brush gun

When you stumble into the emergency room with full-blown sepsis and your brain is filling up with ammonia the only words out of your mouth will be: "nurse could I get some wasser some wasser please". In the spirit of that moment I won't change it to the correct spelling.

    • @bdockett
      @bdockett Před 5 lety +1

      It never has. To be fair though some AK's and other 7.62x39 firearms can show up badly over gassed. My heavy Yugo NPAP AK is fine but my much lighter VZ2008 (VZ-58 clone) is so over gassed that it punches my collar bone unpleasantly and painfully. You would have thought it was chambered for .308. I put an AK74 pattern brake on it. That made it tolerable.

      Yeah. Came with it new out of box. Had feed issues too out of box. That also went away when the brake was put on. It's a nice rifle now, one of my favorites.. but when new that sharp recoil impulse was no fun at all.

      @winkleried Před 5 lety +3

      bdockett Yeah. I am one of the early VZ-2008 shooters. What me and a few others always tell new owners was to 1) Ditch the slant brake. (I use a Bonesteel Slovakian brake) and 2) install a thin aluminum heat shield under the lower hand guard. Those two modifications will turn the rifle into a very surprising pleasant weapon to shoot.

    Yeah I used to have a problem with my shoulder hurting when firing any rifle more powerful than a .223. Then I started working out...not a lot, but enough to keep me in decent shape. Went back out and fired a very lightweight .308 bolt gun and didn't even notice it. More padding in that area from some upper body exercise and you will be fine.

    Very well said, Rob... Different weapons systems have their own character and I think it's an unreasonable expectation to compare different systems and expect them both to have all the best qualities that the individual system may have. An AK platform comparison to an AR is comparing apples to oranges. The AK design when it's achieved well, does what it's supposed to do, what it was meant to do. It's like automobiles... When you buy a Jeep 4X4, it will perform the way it's supposed to. You can't expect a Jeep to do the things that a Honda Civic can, just like you can't expect the Civic to be able to do the things the Jeep 4X4 was designed to do. Keep up the good work, Sir!

    If your front sight is canted the easiest fix is to get a rear sight that is adjustable for windage. This keeps the front post centered and permits windage adjustment on the fly. Takes about 1 minute to switch out the rear sight.
