  • The Northrop F-20 Tigershark was a lightweight fighter aircraft developed by Northrop Corporation in the 1980s. It was envisioned as an affordable and capable multi-role fighter to serve both domestic and international markets. The F-20 was an evolution of the earlier F-5 Freedom Fighter, incorporating advanced avionics, radar, and weapons systems.
The aircraft first flew in 1982 and boasted impressive performance characteristics, including high agility and speed. It featured a single General Electric F404 turbofan engine, providing exceptional thrust-to-weight ratio. The F-20 was armed with a combination of air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground munitions, and a 20mm cannon.
Despite its promising capabilities, the F-20 struggled to attract sufficient orders due to budget constraints, political considerations, and competition from other fighter aircraft. Only three prototypes were built, and the program was ultimately canceled in 1986 after failing to secure significant orders.
While the F-20 Tigershark never entered operational service, it contributed to advancements in fighter technology and served as a testbed for various systems later incorporated into other aircraft. Today, the F-20 remains a symbol of innovation and ambition in the realm of military aviation.
Represented here is the F-20 Tigershark in 1/72 scale from Hasegawa.

I like the highlith of the panels lines, it make the model look like little puzzle.

Incredible patience & dexterity at micro scale scratch building cockpit paraphernalia... Suggesting years of experience aka practice.
Explaining why I'm watching, you're building. Have executed various 'creative' projects in my life so far... they all pretty much ended up a cringe fest.
I respect my younger self for trying. Nowadays would be diagnosed ADHD. Then: "didn't try hard enough" was about as much support as I got.

Remember seeing one at an airshow, real TopGun lite vibe with the cannon barrels protruding from the super sleek nose.
Was the most elegant fighter of its day for me. The nose shape is a masterpiece, not quite oval in section, tapering to that almost literal shark nose shape.
