It's funny because Josh's Frogs sells all those things and usually recommends adding them. I was expecting that to be part of this video and was surprised when it wasn't.
Probably because you'll have to throw all the soil away in a few months when it goes anaerobic from massive amounts of frog piss. Bio active... I'm that small container... Doesn't work for pacman frogs. It just doesnt.
I have a 50'+ magnolia in my backyard (I'm in Alabama), and I'm still terrified to make my own leaf litter. I love yours so much, and I know it's safe for my little friends! Thanks for having the things we need to keep our babies healthy and happy.
Love the video so much just got a bio active set up from the expo in Hillsboro Oregon the guy was so friendly and informative! My little guy is so happy 😊 I couldn't be happier with my products or the video!
Another great video. I really do enjoy these videos and hope you guys continue to do more of these setup videos for the different species of frogs you guys sell, like tomatoe and budgett. This information is really useful.
Well pacs don’t eat the isopods I tried it they went wild. ate a bunch of my plants. Would be sweet for tree frogs and stuff like that because they will actually eat them and keep them under control. But I would also add that if you leave to much substrate they tend to go under all the way and it’s hard to find them to eat. They hunger strike sometimes.
What do you think about a underground river like water flowing underneath the dirt like for a pond or something like rock pond or something like a rock pond
Thanks. And wow, heard they are simple to keep. But this is super super easy. 👌 Ate you sure it doesn't need UVB? I mean even humans need it or they will have to low levels of vitamin D. Can they jump up from 8 inches of water if you want a paladaroum setup like 80 gallon Palace. With just 3 of those with a corner with water to filter and breed guppies in there? And do they never bask? Since I a keeping such a huge tank for 1. Can I have a heat light in one corner. Or is it bad? Sincerely thank you in advance
its still technically bioactive by having plant life sustaining the soil, but ye isopods are definitely the icing on top for a completely natural sustaining ecosystem to be formed.
Using the pots that are made out of recycled papers would be better or no? They would just break down over time, then you would have a plastic pot in the natural set up and the plant can still root
Im having trouble with the humidity levels and my heat pad doesn't seem to heat well. Do I need to get a second heat pad or should I get a heat lamp? As for the humidity am I losing it because the tanks not warm enough or do I need to cover the lid so it's not as vented? I just don't want my little guy dying. He's only about a month old
hi , if it still helps, first of all , you want to take a heat mat with more wattage, bcs when it is placed on the side , some heat will go up, the the humidity , well yes, you can cover one side of the top ventilation an put the water dish on the warm side , also you can try to put frog moss on the top of the substrate , not spagnum moss cuz it can cause impaction , and if this is still not helping, try an automate sprayer , like you connect it to the hygrometer and it will spray whenever it s needed or try to put a waterfall ( try one from exoterra , those are really not expensive ) , to it you can add live planta witch helps in holding humidity , and as the subtrate i recomand repti soil or plantation soil , i use a mix of it or you can just use only one of them , i have my pacman for about 5 years this way and is all good
and never use a heat lamp no matter whar anyone says bcs it will dry so fast your frog and it will die.... if you really want a heat lamp, try the ceramic one but if the tank is not so big , don t use a big wattage one cuz it may lead to over heating
What is the difference in the Pacman biobedding and the tropical biobedding? I have some tropical biobedding on hand, and was given a pacman frog yesterday. Can I use the tropical or do I have to buy the pacman biobedding?
I’m very confused about this video - there’s no bugs, so it’s not bioactive? And also there’s no drainage layers or anything. Can you do another one? 😆 lol

Dear people he most likely didn’t add a clean up crew due to the fact that a cuc couldn’t keep up with a pacmans waste and the substrate needs to be changed about every month and I don’t know about you all but I’d feel terrible throwing out a bunch of living organisms into the trash every month.
I have a question... Does this works for semi-arid vivariums? Cus I asked my father to get a Josh's Frogs BioBedding DESERT substrate but instead I think that he sent me a Josh's Frogs Pac-Man bioactive substrate (like the one in the video) and doing a refund here in México will be complicated.
I think you should use the one your father sent you cause it might hold more moisture than the one you want, again you need a moist enclosure since a pacman are frogs and they need moisture to hydrate their skins. I hope you understand😅 I hope you have a great day!
@@lailatayag8094 Talking about that... The substarte was intended for a leopard gecko, and I ended discarding the substrate after like a month of use...
So it's my understanding that for it to be actually bioactive you need a cleaning crew. Adding spring tails, and small isopods are beyond beneficial
What types of plants are best to use?

Frog was paid actor.
Is there a reason you didn't set this up with a false bottom to maintain humidity and add springtails? Is this an old video?
This is what I just said. Very strange there’s no drainage layer and no bugs

God damn I love this channel! Great video as always

This isn't a bioactive tank. It's just a tank with a plant in it.
Gown isn't it bioactive? It has soil in it... Soil is inherently bioactive.

You can just dust their food with d3
@@Ceonbe thanks!
UVB can harm the albino versions

There’s no way a cuc can keep up with Pacman you need to change substrate every month and there goes cuc
Hi, how do you change the substrate without killing/ uprooting the plants? Thanks!
You usually don’t change substrate in a bioactive enclosure. You would just add clean up crews such as isopods and springtails to clean the substrate.
Using the pots that are made out of recycled papers would be better or no? They would just break down over time, then you would have a plastic pot in the natural set up and the plant can still root
Great video
I want a shirt! 🤩🤩🤩
Can you put a clean up crew with a pac man frog?
Pointless you need to change substrate eevery month there’s no way a crew can keep up with all their waste.
You forgot to add springtails or isopods where’s the clean up crew
i feel like jsut adding plants doesnt make the enclosure bioactive ??

what is the minimum tank size do you need since they dont move around much?
10 gallons i think
When they are small 10 gallons. As they get bigger you may want to upgrade to 25 -40 gallons etc.
10 gal for male, 20 gal for female
What plants do you recommend?
I’m very confused about this video - there’s no bugs, so it’s not bioactive? And also there’s no drainage layers or anything. Can you do another one? 😆 lol
I wanna know who is Josh?
What springtails and isopods do you recommend for Pac-Man frogs that you sell?

How should I clean the water bowl? With or without soap? Everyday?
Not sure if this will help anyone but I’d recommend scrubbing water dish daily and just rinse with dechlorinated water
My isopods did die. I don't know why
Thats a lot of substrate, I thought you only need about 2 to 3 inches deep
for pacman frogs they need at least 5 inches you can always use more
Dear people he most likely didn’t add a clean up crew due to the fact that a cuc couldn’t keep up with a pacmans waste and the substrate needs to be changed about every month and I don’t know about you all but I’d feel terrible throwing out a bunch of living organisms into the trash every month.
I thought if the tank had enough moisture you do not need a water bowl.
Yes that is true. 👍🏻

How big was the tank
Too small to maintain healthy soil with a pacman in it...
What size is that tank?
10 gallons it looks
Soooo what makes it bioactive? 🤔
it runs by itself basically and makes it lower maintenance
is thaat a ten galon
Why its called bioactive if no microfauna was added?
why is you cannal profile weed?
Ayy first Comment
Too much substrate and should not have the wood chips in with it.
How is this a bioactive set up ….
Soil. Soil has aerobic bacteria and beneficial fungi in it.
Hate to say it but the enclosure’s far too small for a pacman mate
it’s fine for a baby, and plus I’m sure they were only using it as an example
This video i a joke , that poor frog will be dead within a week in this poorly made set up 😡😡
I can tell if this is a joke or not
Can’t*
