I've only recently started listening to Chris Stapleton and other country style music. I just love his voice and listening to this song is just goosebump inducing. His wife does a wonderful job harmonizing too. I also listened to the original by Waylon Jennings recently, another name I remember from long ago, but this cover by CS is imo by far the very best. A wonderfully strong voice.

I like how she is simple and doesn't go over the top with everything, makeup, hair, clothing with her fame. And when he sings to her on stage, it sounds like he is singing to her and it's just the two of them. Singing about just being in love. Don't see it that much out there.

Waylon has GOT to be lovin' this version. Chris and his wife are outstanding in all they do. When a singer can sing with little to no background musicians, and still sound this incredible, you know they have talent. So many of today's 'stars' rely so much on auto-tune, or big, loud bands...not Chris, he and his wife are fantastic just going acoustic.
He reminds me so much of Waylon.

If you pay close enough attention, my man's nerves got to him. He rushes the first verse pretty hard. The bass player was adapting to play around him but Morgane calms him down. The smile and the movement of getting in his groove completely smoothed him out. Watch it again. You'll see humans being humans and love saving the day. Watch it again.
It's not well known the reason he wasn't big sooner......the guy had terrible nerves and didn't like playing live. You see it on stage with the steel drivers too.

@@amandakaras356 I just had a look at his rendition. Both he and Waylon Jennings do well but I think CS has that strength in his voice, not the sad woosy sort of tone of the others. I don't mean to be harsh and we all love different singers for their differences, but I do think that is quite a difference. I'd say Chris Stapleton is the best 🙂

I was about to say how beautiful this song is but wouldn’t be half as good if not for Morgane’s sweet, lilting honeyed voice giving such grace and contributions to this haunting poetry. No offense Chris but that little extra from Morgane’s really knocks this song out of this world! Her timing, range and tone are wonderful. I would be interested in hearing more of her songs…she’s wonderful. But together you are a force to be reckoned with. It’s as if you were meant to compliment each other and you blend perfectly together. You make such a beautiful pair singing and just being. Best in the future but it seems you really won’t need it.
