- Dominick Cruz discusses his UFC San Diego main event against Chito Vera, why Vera doesn’t seem to like him, why he represents himself in fight negotiations with the UFC, his takeaways from a recent rules seminar, wanting to debate ABC president Mike Mazzulli live on-air, his current zen-like state, Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley, and more.

Dom said “regret is lack of forgiveness of yourself” somebody who can say that…somebody to admit that…well that’s somebody to look up to
I want to share that clipping on insta story but I'm not too knowledgeable about such stuff. How do you do that? I tried seeing if ariel or some other channel took out that clipping but apparently not.
Yep deffo
@@indcreations2968 very easy just download the whole video and clip it using a website. Or screen record that part
Time stamp?
I really believe Cruz would have been successful in any field he entered. Such an intelligent man.
Dom has some of the smartest trash talk 🤣🔥
The way Dom speaks and handles himself in and out of the octagon, pure class all the way. Hope he wins and keeps climbing, a third title run would be insane.
calm and focus
Agree. Good man good fighter - Terrible commentator tho! Lets not lie to each other hahaha
He’d be the only guy to win a belt three times right?
@@quintonlarson5346 your opinion my man, I actually kinda like his commentary. I know his voice sounds monotone sometimes and he can sound “dry” but his I love how he breaks down fights and explains things as the fight goes down. Tbh I like him more than bisping
With the mindset that he has and inevitably keeps evolving, he's gonna keep grinding for sure 💯🔥 really hope things go great for him
Vera is literally always mad for no reason
It's true. I remember him even being mad at Frankie during their fight. Who gets made at Frankie Edgar? Chito just always has a massive chip on his shoulder for some reason.
Hope he loses for it too
@@danoliver3053 Some fighters need to be mad to have their edge. Not saying he is right, but let's not forget that this people are getting in a FIGHT
@@danoliver3053 Boomer mindset
@@isaac48 Wait, it's a fist fight right, lol, how could these guys ever be mad.
Dom is without a doubt one of the most awareness-minded fighters that has ever been in the UFC and MMA
He has the crown until fabia signs
jiri prochazka has high awareness too but his english has to get better
@@michawulffraat3584 Yes, I'd agree that Jiri is up there on a list like this as well.
We’ll have you seen his foot work. Best in the game
@@Abby-is2iw He fought Pedro Munoz and almost got knocked out 3 times. Pedro is that bum who recently quit fighting against Sean O'malley, but I really like Cruz a lot man for sure. hes so cool and soft spoken. So knowledgeable... I wish he was still 25. He was insane then.
Dom is insanely introspective and intelligent. Intellectually he’s the complete opposite of the stereotypical cage fighter
He has some of the same awful takes as all the other meat head fighters just uses a better vocabulary
@@cristowwal39 He does it to be a contrarian
@@cristowwal39 watch full interview don't rush to comment when you start
Just bleed bro.
@@cristowwal39 he likes to challenge opinions, not always at the right time, but i wouldnt say.."aweful takes".
Dom always has something worth listening to. Valuable information everyone can apply in many situations. Love his interviews.
Cruz has been doing great rebuilding himself compared to how most champs go out after losing the belt and especially since his division is the most stacked.
He fought on the prelims when he was a former champions on two occasions
2014 and 2020
Respect to that man
@@hakr1298 Back then, the prelims had their little "main events" so if he was the main event of the prelims, that was a good spot to be in the card. Which was the case against Mizugaki.
@@hakr1298 It's still about the same as far as the amount of prestige to be the main event of the prelims as it was back then, because if the card is televised on ESPN, which I think the prelims are, those main events did and still do bring in viewers and new fans.
Look at what happened to Renan. He was p4p number 1 at a certain point and was in the conversation for the GOAT.
It's a shame that as an active MMA fan I didn't witness prime years of such fighter as Cruz due to his injuries. His style is something to behold.
Cruz has never lost a fight that wasn't for a world title. So I'm not betting against him.
Isn’t defending the tittle technically a fight for the tittle… any excuse to be congratulatory 🤯😂
@@andeswalk7909 yeah and he also got murked by Henry Cejudo. A fight for a world title.
@@andeswalk7909 what are you on about 🤣
@@thesatisfiedcustomer4869 he is saying he didn't loose title fight he defended a lot thats all . Its a jock you have to be smart to understand but not your fault to be born in rainbow generation
Good luck. Chito's no joke.
Hope it's a good, fun fight where we see glimpses of Cruz at his best.
Anybody who doesn’t like Dom needs to watch this and understand his personality. So many people say they don’t like how critical he is and his commentary but if you listen to the way he views things, he’s actually just really educated and inspiring. Ariel always try’s to stir up drama by trying to get Dom to answer questions that he knows he can make story about but Dom never takes the bait and always speaks to him real
aerial is aerial..
built his brand on drama..
started with diaz n gsp, definately not "real jounalism".
dom is too smart to bite on princess dorks questions.
yeah but he can be condescending his personality isn't for everybody some people just cant take brutal honesty
@Master General then watch the men fight. I'm not a fan of most wmma fights bc they're not up to par skill wise but let people do what they want to do.
he's good people man
@Master General You're cool 👍
Imagine if everyone had the attitude of Dominick Cruz. Guys a legend and definitely can get the belt again before he retires.
He wins this week i gather my aura here . Please guys put your too and make him win
Lol he’s not getting the belt again
Dom is easily my favorite fighter. Such a force in the octagon but more importantly, a huge inspiration out of it. He's helped a lot more people than I think he realizes.
Not to mention inventing his own successful fighting style. One of a kind dude.
I really like Dominicks interview!!!!!!!! They are a must watch!!!!!!!!! i always learn something from them!!!!
You also really like exclamation points 😂
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You always learn when dom is speaking, What a guy!!
Truly rooting for Dom. if he gets his belt back he’s gotta be up there on the all time list
Already the best bantamweight of all time
@@prestigeworldwide7914 agreed but I meant like the GOAT list with the names like: Jones, GSP, Usman, Khabib
@Robert tj is a drug cheat who already lost to cruz
cruz has NEVER lost a non title fight, all his losses are championship fights, remembet that.
@@m6chael u forgetting DJ my guy?
Hearing that Dom represents himself make me think it's the smart move for some fighters. Sean O'Malley is doing the same thing
The maturity Dom displays in every interview is outstanding.
Don’s interviews are always the best!!! I could listen to him talk for hours! Great mind 👍🏻
I'd love a conversation between him and Mikey Musumeci 🙏🏼💯 that would be golden
I really love dominick. Love one of his post fight speeches when he lost. One of my favorite ever
He was so humble and gracious after the Garbrandt loss but so delusional and salty after the Cejudo loss, it was weird
@Flow State do you think it was as bad of a stoppage still as you did then? i'm a cruz fan but i think it was something like 13 un answered shots to the head after the knee that dropped him.
@@iamjp1 I do. He was not in sufficient danger for the fight to be stopped.
@@iamjp1 to be fair stoppage was harsh for cruz..
@@sukhdevr3489 i'm not necessarily saying it should have been stopped but i can at least see why
Some profound stuff in there which is actually super helpful. Thanks Dom and thanks Ariel.
Great interview man this is legendary
Someone please make a short clip of Dominik talking about regret being a lack of forgiveness for yourself. I'm not too internet savvy but would like to share the clip on Instagram. Doms a legend and breaks the stereotype of the typical fighter.
This dudes view on life and morals is first class.
Fantastic interview! I respected Dom before but this is a whole new level. Thanks guys
Savage. Savage. Savage. 2 class acts… 1 heck of an interview. The two of you would be a MMA P.T.I Dream Team
The most intelligent fighter in all of MMA
Amazing interview. Tremendous knowledge and wisdom from the bantemweight Goat, Dominick Cruz.
One of my favourite interviews 👍😁
Dom’s always a good interview
As a Dom fan, I can’t imagine a worse division to be an aging but still formidable ex champ than BW. I see him losing a decision here tho.
Imagine trying to corner Cruz:
Me - Dom I gotta see more movement!!
Cruz - Obviously. I’m in the middle of a fight smarticus. I can smell your high blood pressure from here. Get away from me, you breathe weird. Dork.
Us dom fans have been waiting for his demise for a while. I dont see it coming in the next couple of years. He looks great. And he has a champions brain. To learn
My favorite fighter honestly. Learn from him every single time i listen to him talk
I always enjoy watching Dominick's interviews, his insight, attitude, & him expudiating his knowledge.
Be very sure Cruz will be looking at every Chito interview. Chito speaks from the heart, so if he says he want to go for the finish in the first, Dom realizes he will get pressured and adjusts accordingly. So excited about this one. If Dom loses, he retires and that would be a sad day for MMA.
I love this guy. His mental health approach has helped me more than i can ever demonstrate.
Regret as a lack of self-forgiveness...VERY POWERFUL!!!
Every young fighter in the UFC should watch this interview and take major notes
They always seemed to be very very friendly with each other considering they’re in the same weight class. I’ve seen a bunch of videos of these guys interacting and they seem to respect and like each other
Thank you Dom.
Chito is mad at everybody except for his family and teammates.
@@wdcurry111 what ?
Would be awesome to visit SD and watch a live UFC fight 💪 lucky mf'ers
So refreshing listening to Dom talk…. Such a clever dude…..
This guy is just the most genuine, intelligent fighter by miles.
His breakdown and analysis of a fight is world class also.
Huge respect.
Love everything that came out of his mouth very surreal.
Dude is super technical been fighting for ever literally like damn near 20 years
This man truly is who he is behind closed door and in the spot light. Dood speaks from a place of darkness and a place of light! What a legend and what a mind!
BEST BRAINS FOR THE ART
I'm a huge Dominick Cruz fight fan, and an even bigger Dominick Cruz commentary fan
i can listen to 2 hour of pre fight Dom !!
I really wanna see Cruz make another run at the title
dom mental state is next level hes see thru it with the repercussions that it comes with and still faces it head on
I hope Dom wins. Dudes an absolute legend I’ve been following him and Faber and Aldo since the good ol’ WEC days. Gonna be a tough one, but nothing he can’t handle.
Such a cool chill guy love Dominick
2:25....
not a champion response
but honest.
wise advice...
"nobody deserves anything"
Let's go Dom!
Articulate open minded well spoken individual. Cruz is good for this sport. Alot of valuable information in this content. Good Q & A Ariel.
Enjoyed, thanks
DOM a smart guy, he doesn't give u the typical interview. Him and Adesanya I can watch talk all day.
I'm a little disappointed in myself for not grooving with him until I watched/listened to him commentating fights. Dude is a one-of-a-kind for sure.I like Vera, but will be rooting for Cruz control.
Dom to much of a Vet for this line for questioning Ariel nice try thou 🤣
Setup the debate!
So zen, its refreshing 😌
Such a great mind to represent MMA
Cruz needs to add some more tools to his game. Footwork and point fighting isn't going to be enough in this one. I would like to see Cruz try to take some chances and throw harder strikes.
“You know i was getting up”
“Let’s go, Mike.”… Ariel, PLEASE make this happen.
wish i was mates with dom, i have very similar take on how he views life:)) love u dom good luck brother!!
I love this way of thinking of Dominick Cruz. He’s so right, you have to be grateful of what you have done, own up to your past decisions and dont let it control you. Live in the present, plan for the future, and let go of the past!!!!
I really enjoy how calm Dom is but you can tell he can still throw down at any moment
I hope he doesn’t take this loss too hard. It really doesn’t matter. Rest up Dom!
Dominick is hilarious man🤣 Always got me cracking up.
Chito is mad at everyone he faces lol he let's up after the end of the fight though but leading up to it this is regular for him
I love this man lethal as he is wise!
Really big fight for both...I'm leaning a little towards vera but maybe that's because I'm a little bias on being a chito fan and of both actually but important fight. I can't wait to watch it
San Diego has your back Dominic!
Dom is hypnotizing us with his Zen powers!
Wow! I am a Don Cruz fan! I like the zin minded man he is and he’s a very good commentator. Good luck Saturday night I can’t wait.
Sorry Dom Cruz
Love the dominator !
Dom can talk the talk better than any cage fighter ever and just as good as any person ever.
We love listening to Joe R . and Dom Cruz announce the fight as the fight is happening in the octagon
cruz is like the perfect guest for Ariel and his comments lol. Cruz is able to just flow with the instigating Ariel does through out this interview.
Surrender is perfect Dom. 'Always a big fan.
Please do the follow up interview with dom and head of abc after Dom's fight win or lose.
Dom is so wise. He's not a fighter he's a true martial artist. His level of understanding of life is so deep on a metaphysical aspect. The way he articulates himself is so simple but profound.
Man I don’t think Dom knows it, but he’s a comedian. I’ve been cracking up this entire interview. Dom is the man!
I love watching dom fight but I can’t see him not getting clipped by chito in a 5 round fight. Dom has a questionable chin if you can get to it. I really wish he wins he’s one of my favorite fighters, but I got chito in this one
18:31 🥺
his mindset of surrendering of things outside ur control and letting go, seems similar to taoism's wu wei concept. Inspiring advice for the modern distracting times
Cruz speaks so well could listen to him all day
Jedi level achieved
Cruz is a legend man
Dom dropping knowledge
Such a cool, intelligent dude
Best of luck to Dominick on his way to the top. 🌠
Dominick Cruz is an absolute legend. His resume is so stacked. He’s literally only lost in world championship fights (24-3). I can’t wait for this Chito Vera (19-7) fight!!! Also I completely agree with his opinion on wanting better trained judges, refs and score keepers! Retired fighters should definitely get this opportunity before anyone else! It makes so much sense also giving them employment something they enjoy once their fighting career is over. Dominator is the man.
love dom dipping into his spiritual side
Dominick Cruz has been my favorite since I started watching the UFC. Actually the first fight I ever saw was Dominick Cruz versus Uriah Faber part 1. My only regret is that I'll never get to see him compete live or ever get to meet him in person I'm one of if not the biggest dominant Cruz fan and supporter.
"Nothing is permanent so there's no reason to try and control it" Dom absolutely spitting gospel
