Chris K What makes you think they didn't get it? They got it, they're just not a very receptive audience. Sometimes you run into them, but you just forge ahead like this guy did.
But that's the thing...if the crowd isn't feeling the jokes, that's literally the only indicator you should look at. He isn't writing jokes so he can chuckle at himself

Probably didn't clap because the jokes were not funny and the performance was so weak and boring. Stand-up is more than just telling jokes, it is a full performance. Anyone can remember a lot of unrelated jokes, but it doesn't make them a comedian.
My favorite cannibal jokes are: 1) two cannibals are eating a clown one turns to the other and says “hey…does this taste funny to you?” 2) did you hear about the cannibal who passed his brother in the woods? 3) two cannibals are eating one says “you know, I just can’t stand my mother-in-law”, the other one replies “well here then, try the potatoes.”
My wife went into a store to by a pair of sexy panties. She pointed at a pair and asked the sales assistant, are they satin. The sales assistant said, no madam, they're new.
Not laugh out loud funny. But his jokes were really clever, I could not watch this guy do a 45 minute act, I struggled not falling asleep during this 3:18 clip.
