Leroy VanDyke (age 93), Willie Nelson (89), and Kris Kristofferson are about the only ones left anymore, Loretta Lynn having died 12 days ago. Kris was a singer, but I think he was better known as a songwriter. He's 86. Posting 10-16-22.

I remember when each year for a period of time a major country artist would perform at our local country fair. Conway impressed me as he did little chit chat. Just one song after another.
Conway said he didn't like to do a lot of talking in his shows, he wanted the songs to do the talking and be the focus.
I always loved this guy. I loved it when him and Loretta sing together ❤

Just visited Conway's grave today. He's finally got a small bronze plaque dedicated to him. It's not enough for such a great entertainer, but it's better than nothing.
His family did not honor him with a headstone? I finally had one put on my grandfathers grave after being dead over 25 years. Families, you just never know.. I never met my granddad was shocked, but did not cost that much to lay his name to memory in marble

@@lissablue176 his resting place is in a vault ,plain and his given name, harold jenkins, nothing else mentioned! so no his wife said he didn't want no big funeral etc, i call bullshit, he deserved atleast to be recognized after death , as the high priest of country music, his mark on country music showed at his final resting place,
@@lissablue176 Bless you for that. I made sure my Beloved Grandmother had one. Also a vault. I was prepared to pay. I felt she deserved it. Even thought you didn't meet your Grand PA. I'm sure he looked down smiled and gave you a wink. God Will Bless you for that. Everybody should be remembered. I have insurance, si nobody can say nothing. I want to be remembered. My future relatives will know where I was laid to rest. My Great Grandparents were buried in church cemetery, they had no marker, I can't go pay respect. I had the pleasure of seeing Johnny cash and June Carter cash at the Stanley theatre in Utica NY in 1985 and Conway twitty in the same place I believe the following year. I'm glad I got to see them both . Conway came on stage signing Hello Darling . As the curtains rose he stands there and says Hello Darling as he walks on stage. Earl Thomas Conley opened for him. He started the show with Rose Colored Glasses. I also got to see Toby Keith at the Semo district fair in 2000. They all put on great shows.

A lot of these Legends back in the day with all these songs that they sing in the verses lead away to a place we can almost see but in the words they're playing to see a beautiful life with sorrow love pain and living the legends that we look at they show us so much more than they do now because they lived it they sang about it and they wanted to tell the world don't follow the footsteps they did. But somehow we didn't listen enough because we're still following the footsteps of the legends but not the correct way they did. I miss the way it used to be so innocent so serenity and loving back in the day but there were secrets I'm sure of hidden and many many doors in every way

I love this man with all of my heart. I know that we knew each other in heaven ; I feel him very close to me, He’s a wonderful man and such a friend at all I just feel bad that his wife caused them to sell their estate and have it liquidated to where they all lost their homes.this is really a crying shame. Conway if he was here he was straightening that all out and stop it in a minute. She took very much advantage because of money. She showed her true colors, and Conway died. She could care less about his children. All she cared about is what she can get for herself.
Country music will never be the same. George Strait and Allen Jackson are the only two left..

I remember almost the minute that Conway died. We were on a day trip, and the news came over the car radio that he'd gotten grievously ill (forget whether it said he was rushed to the hospital). Dad got out of the car to walk around; I stayed to listen to the radio, and about 10 minutes later, the tragic news came. Conway was only 59, the age I am now. To my eyes, he resembled Don Imus, another whose shoes nobody will ever fill.

3 of my oldest singers that I really love it's going now. I'm 66 years old. I probably won't be far behind. All of country singers are gone now. There is no good country, Western singers hardly now.

I played both sides so much that it's Color is a Light Gray with only the beginning edge and the ending remaining black !!!!!!!
