OMG, I finally understand the way to say man, it's really hard to say it like "m-aa-uh-n". I always say it like " m-e-n"( using pure /e/) so that's why it doesnt sound correctly. Thank you Rachel, I love your videos !!!!!!!!
Really interesting. Now I know that *"æ"* could be different in other cases. Thank you so much, Ms. Rachel.
Me at the dentist
Dentist: open wide
Me:
*æ*
😂
This is stupid and I love it
Why is this my humor
No thats aa in father
Your videos are literally changing my life! Thank you so much for your wonderful courses. You are helping out thousands of people out there who struggle to speak English clearly, fluently and with confidence
This is by far the best video about the A sound I've ever seen. I'm so happy to confirm that my ears were never wrong. I guessed all of that except for the "ay" sound before "NG". I don't have enough words to appreciate this video. awesome!!!! I loved it!
I love your way to explain the sounds! It does make it much much easier for non-native (like me). Thank you Rachel ❤️
The best AA sound class I've ever seen on CZcams. Great job, Rachel!
I know right
Sooo, wanted to say thanks for all the videos, they are all really detailed and are helping me improve my english in slight but very important details that I never noticed I was missing.
Terrific. I've confused about AA sound for a long time, until now.
Your videos're great, useful and they're so easy to learn.
Thanks :)
I've never ever watched such a explicit lesson. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, Rachel! This is the best explanation ever on pronunciation of 'man', 'hand' and 'sang.' I always wondered why the actual sounds spoken are different from the IPA script.
You're very welcome!
I can’t stress how much I learned from you
I am glad you found the content helpful and informative Geovanne!
Dear Rachel, happy teacher's day.
Cem-English teacher from Paris Secondary School

Thank you Rachel! You're doing great! I LOVE YOU !
You don't know how much I love you Rachel.
Very good! No English school in my country would teach me things like that. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your videos, Rachel! I learn something with every lesson. And I'm a native speaker!
You're welcome!
Wow.
Thank you Rachel, this video very helpful
I've been trying to find such an explanation FOREVER! I am pretty good with accents but just couldn't figure out how the differences of ae work phonetically - and you really don't find it anywhere in the IPA! Thanks so much Rachel!
My pleasure Amy!
0:10 i like it when it starts and makes its logo coloring.
3:02 That additional note on en.wikipedia.org/wiki//%C3%A6/_raising made me aware of this phenomenon. Thank you, for being useful yet one more time.
4:52 That slow "hand" was also super useful.
Obviously, the whole channel and videos are, but I just point out some highlights.
This video is perfect in every respect, thank you!

Excelente profesora. Nunca imaginé que pudiera explicarlo tan bien
Thank you! I've always read "can't" as "kEnt" with "e" sound. Now I know it should be read "kaent"
Why does this letter exist
Extraordinaria explicación!!! Gracias!!!
Thank a lot for this "aa" sound vidoe. It has helped a lot in understanding few difficult pronunciations, such as "thanks" and "can" with "ay" sound, man with "uh" sound, and father with "ah" sound. Thanks! again.

You're so welcome @kathylees5638!
Could you do a video showing us about how this vowel is different from the /e/ vowel? It's very hard for me to distinguish it. I often pronounce the /ae/ vowel as /e/
I guess you mean /ɛ/ not /e/. Well, /ɛ/ is a raised /æ/, that's it.
As usual, another great video; thanks Rachel. It seems that the IPA is a total failure, or obsolete. Hope they come with an improve IPA soon. Congrats for your newborn baby; such a beautiful kid. God bless you all.
