  • @BrownBaitCo
    @BrownBaitCo Před 2 lety

    I agree with a slower gear ratio for the soft swimbaits. But for glidebaits I like a 7.4:1 ratio. I know what you are thinking less toque. When you are starting out fishing glidebaits and swimbaits a slower ratio is great to start with, makes you slow down and really pay attention to the bait and how to work it. Once you know how to work the bait properly you can do it more efficiently and it lets you do more things with a higher gear ratio, and it is easier to burn a glidebait or swimbait. Great lineup of rods only gap I see is a punching rod but you could prob use one or 2 of those rods and get away with it. Thanks for the content bro!

    We fish a lot of wood and do yourself a favor and leave the braid in the rod box…with that said for flipping we move up to a heavy action to get the fish pointed out of the brush fast. While I agree with lots of what you are saying this is a very user preference subject. Nice to see what others are using that might fill a gap in a person’s arsenal.

    Everyone who suggests a type of rod length for specific styles of fishing are so goofy. I've finished every style of lure on a 7' - 7'3 rod Medium heavy, fast action and it works totally fine. You gain a tiny percentage of efficiency by changing up your rod length/power.
    The only exception to this is using a heavy power rod if you're fishing for northern/musky.

My first baitcaster was actually gifted to me, and it's a 6'6" MH fast action rod. • @joeschranz4525
      @joeschranz4525 Před 2 lety +1

      It is mostly so fish don’t see the line in clearer water. Also around fish like pike or even lake trout the toothy abrasive teeth can result in your braid braking as Florocarbon is more abrasion resistant. Some people also use a leader of some sort because the stiffer mono or floro won’t tangle in the treble hooks as much

I can't even find other reviews on those reels to make an informed decision, it's like no one uses them. It's not shilling, they have terms with the sponsors. He can't be sitting there showing off daiwa or shimano products when Bruin is giving him stuff. The compromise is that the meat and potatoes of the video was rod action and gear ratios. If you completely disregard the brands it doesn't change the video at all, also a tidbit to remember is that he approached them so he actually does stand behind the brands.
      If I were you I'd have a short list of what power and action of rods you have in mind for the techniques you like fishing and go to a local sporting goods store or bass pro shop. Hang out for a bit and play with different brands of those power/actions and talk to the guys there about it. Try to avoid the bigger box stores like your Cabela's, Dicks, Gander etc, find something smaller and more focused with staff that are hired for their knowledge and experience.
