I'm sure this is the late Nickolaus Harancourt and what a delightful and profound performance. The costumes, the singers, the playing - an absolute joy. There is a strong similarity to Lully's Passagaille or perhaps the other way round, but without this uplifting music, life would be so much greyer.
Reminds me very much of Lully's passacaglia from "Armide" - "Les Plaisirs ont choisi pour asile.." And since he was of the generation before Purcell...
