The production values in this video is over 9000! 🤩
If you have the video on 1080p and fullscreen the little boys eyes glow green at the end.
Fun fact! That kid at the start is Layne's nephew, and during the filming he wouldn't do that door-knocking scene correctly, always either knocking in the wrong place or wrong tempo, so Kathy, Geoff's wife, had to wear the costume and do it herself 😂
LOL that’s hilarious! Thanks for sharing! 🤣
Yes, you are right, the characterization of what they become are characters in the movie, so, yes, Eli is the "mayor", and Layne is one of the children who kidnap Santa, Geoff is one of the three vampires, Earl and J are also characters that appear in the film. In fact, the costumes they bring at the beginning, when they open the door to "mini Jack" also have their explanation, since they are some of his characters in "the chicken song: Eli the rooster, Earl the cow, Geoff the pineapple (from a gum tree) 😊
I only just found out that “The Chicken Song” is an actual VoicePlay song! 🤯
@@ZhenYaoYin If you have not seen that presentation, I suggest you watch it, I personally find it very funny 😁
Their latest offering for this year is Friends On the Other Side. Another Film I haven't seen but the video is great. With a welcome guest appearance of J.None.
Can’t wait to film our reaction later tonight! 🤩
Geoff commented that the makeup took a long time. They started at 7 in the morning, had a team of 3 makeup artists, and didn't finish filming until after 11:00 PM.
Whoaaaaaaa that’s DEDICATION 🤯
@@ZhenYaoYin Theater attitude. Do what it takes. Can get absurd, but once you're in, you're gonna' finish.
VoicePlay's commitment to a creative concept is really amazing- you know that was an intensive, all-day shoot! Can't imagine how tired you'd be by the end, and then you'd still have all that makeup to take off again! So much appreciation for all the hard work that goes into these lavish videos we get to enjoy; this is part of why I love this group so much. They always go that bit further.
They’re consummate professionals for sure! 💪
I think that shirt must be his Halloween shirt. (Good catch, by the way.) I think he was wearing it in his Headless Horseman - now I have to check that... and maybe also in Hoist the Colours.
And am I the only one who thinks that Eli looks like a madman at the end when he has that big grin on his face? I watched this, then Hoist the Colours and finally My Mother Told Me and watched Eli descend into madness. If they ever re-do The Shining, he would be a good fit!
I always miss these things and then I start down a new rabbit hole!
Eli is the Mayor, and the others are the townsfolk: J. is the werewolf, Geoff is one of the vampires, Layne is the devil in his bright red shirt (Not Lock, who does not actually have horns - that's his hair), and Earl is Behemoth, who is blue and has an ax in his head (he's the one who said "BUNNY!" and terrified the Easter Bunny).
They do recycle costume pieces periodically. Geoff's ruffled shirt made another appearance in "The Headless Horseman" and I'm pretty sure Jose Rosario was wearing it for "Hoist the Colours". It might also be in "Monster Mash", with a jabot of proper gentlemanly Victorian lace covering the ties at the neck. I sorta think of it as the official VoicePlay Halloween shirt. 😄
Thanks for the nice reaction! I haven’t seen the Nightmare Before Christmas, but read about it. My theory is that when they’ve eaten the candy they fall down or travel somehow to Halloween Town. I’ve also read in comments to the video that all of them turn into characters from the movie, but some of the characters aren’t so prominent, guess that’s why many reactors don’t recognise them.
It’s a really charming movie, you should watch it! Meanwhile, I still gotta convince Carrie… LOL! 😜
@@ZhenYaoYin Good luck with that! 😂 I really want to watch it, but can’t find it. Hopefully it shows somewhere now that Halloween is getting closer.
They’re characters from the movie. There you go! You got it, at least a bit.
Someone said that it’s NOT Lock, I’m surprised! 🤔
They get "roofied" by "Jack" and are transported to Halloweentown.
Wait’ll you see Voiceplay’s latest. They doo it so well, and it has a special guest...
Can’t wait!! 😍
In this sequence in the movie, there are a lot of minor characters singing this song, hence their use of all the different voices. And as others have said, VoicePlay is turning into different citizens of Halloween Town (you pretty much got the jist of it):
J None - Werewolf
Eli - The Mayor
Earl - Behemoth (a zombie-like creature)
Geoff - Vampire
Layne - Devil ( *not* Lock, though)
I’m just surprised that it’s not Lock, but it’s been years since I’ve seen the movie 😆
@@ZhenYaoYin Yeah, I hear ya, but Lock isn't seen in that sequence, just a generic Devil seen marching with the Mayor at one point.

I thought that Earl was the Clown with the Tearaway face - I think he rides a unicycle in the movie.
@@janetdw He sings that line, absolutely, but go look up Behemoth. He *is* the zombie-like creature in overalls and an axe in his head. 😁
They started this early in the morning and didn't finish until 11 at night due to all the makeup changes and updates.
If you like unusual things, I suggest you watch "Thriller" by The Bottle Boys. They are a band from Denmark that play music on bottles, glasses, jugs, etc. Their "Thriller" video is one of my Halloween favorites! ... Guy
Interesting! Thanks for the suggestion! 😄
Fun
Took them 10 games for the makeup changes
There is a video of making this. It was great. 10 costume make-up breaks.
I think the kid's smile is creepy!
You mean it’s not cute? 😂
@@ZhenYaoYin , nope. That smile is definitely up to no good! 😏😏😏
I think the kid is Geoff's son?
No, Geoff’s son is still younger. I think this is a relative of Layne’s, I think I read somewhere that it’s his nephew.
Voiceplay was roofied by a kid!!
