[Encyclopedia of Local Korean Culture] Squid Fishing Operation
Both automatic squid catchers and hand controlled reels are used for squid fishing operations. The automatic squid catcher is a kind of fishing gear that automatically catches squid by rotating one pair of oval-shaped small reel in one automatic catcher and the yellow-winged roller on a regular cycle. The hand controlled reel is prepared by dropping the roller into the water and installing the handled reel inside the boat. It is operated by spinning the reel by hand, and pulling the fishing line up and down to catch squid.
