More excited for HauteLeMode’s review of the Oscar looks than the actual Oscars.
lol!!! So true! 😂
Yep... Most definitely!
I don’t even watch the Oscars really because my ultimate goal is to see fashion and I can find it here so what’s the point?
Yes, time WELL spent!!
Yes, right!!!❤
Margot robbie is gorgeous as always but ARE THERE NO HAIRDRESSERS IN HOLLYWOOD ANYMORE???
RIGHT??
Yes, her hair looks like she just stepped out of the shower. 💦
I do not like the I-was-too-busy-to-even-comb-my-hair look so many are going with.
Stringy hair is awful.
She never does her hair. Se only had good hairstyles when she was promoting Barbie for a bit and for promotional photos but she always just goes out with messy stringy hair
I love how when you comment, it's always about the garment and not about the body of the wearer. All bodies are different and for those people that are outside the fashion norm, you are never derogatory or diminishing to them. It is always about the garment and your level of respect for people is so amazing.
Actually these women ARE the norm and fashion really should be able to cope with a short Florence Pugh or a plumper Lily Gladstone. The fact that fashion houses only design and dress stick thin tall people is really sad. Dear lord Florence’s figure is lovely as is Lily’s to make dresses for them should be so easy
@@dianeshelton9592yes, when I say “fashion norm” that is commentary on the stick thin models that have always seemed to be popular for designers. Those that are outside of the fashion norm are about 90% of the population. Although you’d never know it from the runway models.
Yeah but on the other hand, often the fitting has to be done rather haistly. It is rather unfortunate that way too often it is fitting that makes or breaks a look. And for clothing to fit perfect 1 lbs off from fitting weight can already make a difference. The garments in models often are fitted again (with needles) 10 min prior entering the runway. This obviously isn't possible for garments you are planning to wear for several hours.
@@dianeshelton9592 so true! The more normal womanly curves should be properly fitted to best effect.
And they are more attractive than 6', rail thin, flat chested models.
@@synchronicity1470 I am not departing that, As long as you are healthy just embrace the body you can exist in without unhealthy eating practices. I just wish haute couture house started to learned that women come in all shapes and sizes and dress all of them with ease
I feel so bad for Florence because oh my god. The puckering on the seams, the droopy soggy looking peplum, who did this to her
Really bad. Why did no one see this and tell her SOMETHING??
respectfully disagree I think she looks fantastic! the proportion issue is so minor to me in terms of the overall look, which I love
Why did you copy and paste someone else's comment? Cringe!
@@lucifersmother She doesn't:((((
And I think a big thing throwing it off is not having the decal over the end of the vulva like the model- it’s too high up, so it just draws attention without being where it should be. Then the armpit area being soo loose!
clicked on this so fast i’m with the bots
deaaaaaaad
Not the bots💀
😂😂😂😂
Omg 😂😂😂
The glambot?
Catherine O'Hara was flawless! How to be fashionable classic timeless and hip all rolled into onel
She looked glorious!!
Esp for being in her late 60s. I always thought she was so pretty.
@@CALLMESIR... I thought she did a good job of dressing in a way that was mature but also really fun and pretty.
Her art is dangerous 😆 love her!
Stunning! And the dress is a work of art!
Catherine O’Hara looks like she got in a couture paintball fight and I love it.
Exactly something Moira Rose would do!
That's probably how the material was printed. Paintballers were called in and let loose on the bolt of fabric...lol!
Lots of elements in Lily Gladstone's looks are Indigenous based, like the quillwork. The angled fringe is a lot like how many girls arrange the cone strands on their jingle dresses for PowWow! Also the swaying fringe on Buckskin dresses and dance shawls. 🥰
loooooooooove these tidbits!!!
That's so cool. I haven't hit that part of the video and can't wait to see it. Thank you for sharing.
Wack
Such great information! TYSM 😊 🙏
*AHO!*
“I WANT CAPE! I WANT CAPEOLOGY!”
I’ve never seen ‘angered Luke’ before and I love it 😍
He sent me with "the pubes are having a moment"
I have purse 💁
What in the table napkin is Kim wearing 🤣💀🤦🏼♂️
It’s an homage to the eye that sits on the pyramid. Her hair parts her face which shows the one eye and the triangular piece sits right below.
Ah yeah, because we almost forgot what Balenciaga did with their toddler BDSM campagne. There’s so much evil in that brand and I can’t believe Kim is still supporting it.
I can believe Kim is still supporting that brand.
at this point they should invite colman domingo to the met, he would serve so bad
You’re telling me
Colman would undoubtedly be the best dressed at the met Gala. He needs to show the other men how it's done.
For sheer dresses I always wonder "would you like the dress if it wasn't sheer? Why does it stand out?" if its only liked because its sheer its not a great dress.
Yep. The cut isn’t interesting, the colour isn’t interesting, the construction isn’t interesting… and at this point, being naked on a red carpet is old hat. It’s just… there.
AMEN to that sister. What I don't get is. These women are really at the top...at least THEY'RE at the Oscars and going to all the after parties. At that point you don't have to show off your underwear. It seems so desperate. Yea they might be remembered, but for what. What kind of "OFFERS" is it going to elicit? I would think they'd want to go the other way, pretty but more artistic or serious, grown up based. Something that would tell producers, directors, I'm not here to offer my body for a job. I'm here to offer my sense and sensibilities for that lead role.
@@chriswilson4112well your reading things one way. Because you could also read it as first and foremost- body parts are just body parts. And secondly it can be a projection of confidence, freedom, personal sensuality, and can absolutely be done creatively and artistically. Not everything revolves around what men will think. These are adults who can make their own choices.
ChrisWilson said absolutely nothing based in the male gaze. On the contrary, he played up women as *more* than just pretty bodies.
@@williamsstephens are you replying to me? They made remarks about they way women express themselves and how that will affect their jobs, remarks about producers and directors who are mostly men. Not “having to” show off anymore. Remarks about “offers” which says enough. Certainly there is judgement about female bodies and categorizing who can and can’t express sensuality with clothes. And those remarks about “offers” and producers and directors as I mentioned implies something with they way women are viewed sexually, the sexualization and censorship of the female body mostly comes from men. The whole comment revolves around the sexualization and censorship of the female body and sensuality. So not quite “playing them up”. And I guess your saying they are a man. So, ya know….
"CaPeOlOgY!!!" 😂 agreed, that cape is everything! And yes, they did Florence dirty with the fit.
Poor Florence. The whole outfit kind of looked like a mess. It looks like it wasn’t for to her body all, that looks worse than. Almost anything I’ve bought at like Nordstrom Rack.
@@lauren8135Yeah, I thought it was lovely on the runway, but as a fellow short girlie, everything isn’t made for everyone
Anya’s dress is giving synchronized swimmer in that outfit
Ester Williams!
Yes! 😅
22:10 - "can't believe I didn't get to see that cape" 😂that was the most adorable
He was right, too! She looked lovely in the dress, but when I saw the full ensemble I almost fell out of my chair. Wow! 🤩🙆♀🙇♀🤸♀💃🍾
Colman Domingo is spectacular in all things and looks incredible here. He is effortless.
Colman was easily the best dressed actor of the awards season.
Kendall cant walk, cant make a pose, theres no emotion, no drama, no serving the look. Shes just standing there doing nothing. As for Sandra Huller i think she gets it, shes smart, shes european so shes got the sense for art and fashion. And i think it was a tough choice for Sydney to wear that Angie dress, cause i think its a bit baggy at the bust area and it feels like a girl putting on a moms dress.
Yes to everything you said! 😂
That why they call her Kendull. 😉
I'd say a girl putting on a *woman's dress and not mom but I agree with everything else. Kendall should not be on runways much less a top model. Nepotism is nothing new in the industry but at least back in the day you still had to be de rigueur with your walk and look. They're now just letting them be lazy and boring.
Sydney's look feels very predictable and one note. Angelina's seems to contrast and balance out her more goddess like powerful aura and that's what stops it from looking borrowed and costume-y. Sydney really needs to step out of the sad girl's aesthetic comfort zone she has aesthetically type casted herself into and do something with more edge or at least less... boring? Dress for the girls not the boys type of ordeal? Experiment a bit?
But but… i am sure she took how to stand and take a good pic class. Very important to the Kardashians but alas she is not a Dashian and the same look on her face does not work for her.
Catherine O’Hara’s look is incredible. So detailed, so sophisticated, so fun
I'll probably be buried in jeans and a t-shirt, but I really enjoy listening to you talk about fashion! You make me appreciate the art, rather than just me seeing rich people being rich.
I feel so bad for Florence because oh my god. The puckering on the seams, the droopy soggy looking peplum, who did this to her?
she needs to fire her stylist asap 😭😭
Not happening soon because she seems to really love and genuinely happy with this kínd of styling
This THING doesn’t fit Florence and even if it did this isn’t a style for her body type. She has a great body but you would never know that by this outfit. Those who reassured her that she looked marvelous in it should hide their heads in shame.
That dress is a mess.
So God awful 😂 it's funny
Catharine O'Hara's outfit is wonderful. The details...perfection.
Totally disagree!
Alberto Giacometti was Swiss 😉 We’re a small country, don’t rob us of our geniuses ☺️ Italy has enough.
Wanted to write the same thing! Huere siech 😂
Catherine O'Hara is STUNNING. Love that she shows you can have style at any age.
I GASPED! ❤❤❤ The fabric design and the whole silhouette is gorgeous! 😍
Absolutely flawless! 🤩
Catherine O'Hara and COLEMAN OMG HE RULES every time
I think we are over the "sheer dress" moment
Catherine O'Hara looks SO BEAUTIFUL! ❤
I agree, as soon as I saw Anya’s dress I was wishing it was a full gown! Or go totally bananas and make it a SUPER short mini with a sharp, structured A-line that flares out, but still firmly structured. Maybe even with some mesh sides that match the butterfly wings
I kind of liked the idea of maybe some slightly baggy tailored shorts or trousers. I think the blazer throws off the balance with the bottom.
Loved that you highlighted the details of Catherine O'Hara's dress. Colman Domingo's Balmain coat was hot. I loved it. Lily Gladstone's nod to jingle dresses for competition at Native American Pow Wow's was so wonderful to see. Thank you for your break down and analysis of the fashion!
I hadn't seen the picture of Hunter with the cape until this video and wow, that looked amazing. The cape deserved the red carpet
And it wasn't even a cape. The two pieces convey a deconstructed or re-constructed formal trench coat. The dress retaining the faux pocket flap.
The "cape" part being the body or back of jacket and the full arms terminated at the wrist with traditional trench sleeve strap detailing.
Catherine O'Hara for the win! What a gorgeous, original look!
Catherine O'Hara is wearing what I would wear to one of these things in a different lifetime. She is the coolest.
Also, Michelle Yeoh is drop-dead gorgeous and classy in her black gown!..
So many can't pull off such a severe, dark color, but it is ideal on her, with the brooch!!-
Laverne Cox looked like a nightmare 😆😆😆😆
"She's standing next to Joseph Quinn, he's wearing a black suit, it's looks nice on him, let's move it along"... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm dead!!!
I dont get how celebs wear dresses with trains to a party. VF has a huge venue but it gets crowded because many more are invited to the party that don't go to the ceremony. It's just going to get dirty, stained, or walked on. And who wants to hold a dress up at a party?
I now resist all other fashion commentary until I have heard your opinion. I know absolutely nothing about fashion, but love it on a spectator level. I do have a couple of Fendi items but only because I loved the perfume back in the day. I adore your library of books and have similar quantities on gardening. You are a breath of fresh air x
Loved that perfume!😊
Luke, you’re spoiling us with the videos 💆♀️
I dont even care about the award shows, I just remember it means a great roast of all the fashion from you
I love the fashion.
But also love these hard working & disciplined actors having their moment. They are telling the stories of life, across a broad spectrum and hundreds of professionals all work in concert to bring these productions into fruition.
The creation of The Oscars in recognition of this talent and work ethic is commendable.
Agreed!
I love how much context and history you give when you review looks and the detail you describe when commenting on looks. I learn sooooooo much from watching these! Thank you.
Catherine O’Hara was my favorite look🦋
kim is serving pocket square realness
Catherine O’Hara is my favorite 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I liked Jennifer Lawrence’s vintage dress, but I was distracted by the East-west boobage. Florence Pugh just needed the dress to be fitted for her instead of a model. Kelly Rowland’s dress gave her hub cap boobage that didn’t look great. Overall, the gowns weren’t awful, the actresses wearing several of them needed to have stylists who can step away from the moment to ensure that the draping, seams, and fit were as close to perfect as possible.
RATAJOWSKI'S dress. 😅 The boobs didn't match. It was giving Zendaya Walmart version. 😢
Schiaparellis dress for Sandra Hüller is amazing and something we haven't seen lately. thanks for including her!
Catherine O'Hara is basically channeling her inner Moira Rose😍 and I am here for it , she looks STUNNING!😍
Love your video! It is so refreshing to watch a person with actual style knowledge🙂. I am with you with many styles. Actually, I feel very bad for Florence, always disappointed that her stylists are not able to work with her body proportion. This is my task #1 in styling to really bring head size, upper body dimension, lower body in balance. And then make the whole look flattering🦋, bold or cool, whatever wanted. Florence has a special proportion, she could look like the queen of the scene,...❤
Am I the only one who just does not like Margot Robbie's corset dress thing at all? The whole look to me looks one dimensional; like the hair and corset/dress are pieces in a paper doll dress up game.
I liked it on the runway
@@nellier3468 Me too!
Oh Margot was just giving a big FU to the whole Barbie deal. She's done. So she went and made herself look all Moulin Rouge risque to let the world know the ADULT Margot is back.
Missed opportunity for Margot.. twice
I think she looks stiff and uncomfortable
I loved loved loved Donald Glover's look, you really are pushing a higher standard for menswear that's getting progressively more interesting. Loved the empire waist Jennifer Lawrence wore- those were four leaf clovers, not flowers, though! Perfect for March.
Also Catherine O'Hara wearing Robert Wuns new "for love" spring collection made me so happy! I loved his show, thank you for highlighting it on your shorts! My mom and I watched it together and got SO excited for the exciting designs and walking art.
Donny always gets into a character of sorts. Great fashion but somehow I see humour in it.
My idea for Anya: long Marlene pants, maybe a bit sheer or pleated- and the mini dress as a top😊
Paparazzi pic of Hunter was so beautiful. Winner.
What does kim k have to do with the oscars
I think she just was at the VF party.
America looks like a magicians assistant
I feel like I’ve been watching you for a million years but you are still so young! You just have been a child when you started your channel!
Margo Robbie’s outfit is beautiful but it also looked like Taylors Swifts costume from the Eras Tour.
It was beautiful, but I kept expecting a trapeze to swing into the frame and her to hop on
Yay! Was just looking for your review of after party (fashun or not) and here it is! Love ya! from New Zealand 🎉❤
Love the "capeology" rant! Thanks for the chuckle!!!
I LOVE these videos. Thank you!
I'm just wondering who Florans pissed off, so that person takes revenge on her like this?
Kim- like those little napkins at Balkan weddings in the 90s...
😀😄
Anyone who supports Balenziaga is deranged
shout out to that getty photographer for the front on shot, thanks girl! we needed to see what greta was hiding!!
😅
she was hiding a bad fit! from the front you can really see the fit aro7nd the bust is off, and across her torso too. she’s gorgeous and that dress is just off.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Catherine O’Hara skirt & blouse. Flawless.
Colman Domingo! That man gives me hope for men, because daaamn, he's so effortlessly *cool* and a really friggin' handsome man. That outfit was so, *so* great! He makes my fashion-loving heart very happy.
EDIT: Removed the word "straight" because of the implication that he somehow would be one of the straight men that he gives me hope for - that wasn't how I meant it. I know he's gay. My point with the comment was that by him showing up and being the incredibly cool, handsome badass that he is, he shows these other men that you can be fashionable and cool and masculine at the same time. I worded my comment REALLY fucking poorly when I first wrote it. Sorry 'bout that.
I love him too but just for your info he's gay
@@fangal12 *sigh* makes sense
lmaooo what exactly made you think he was straight?

Colmam Domingo NEVER misses!!! ❤❤ Dare I say that he genuinely reminds me of Zendaya in that way.. he always gives us FASHION & makes it super exciting 👏🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥

Love the intro ❤ love the speed, love the editing 😊
Trust you to bring looks I haven't seen on other channels. I was surprised at Hunter's bit boring dress and didn't know about the cape. That was everything!
I love this channel. ❤ I always learn something new from Luke's roasts. 😊
thank u for the speedy upload king!!!!!!!
I love your reviews! 💫
I think Anya’s dress was just missing opaque black tights. I think that would’ve upped the glam factor and let the embellishments on the dress really stand out.
These videos are the highlight of my week. Thank you for bringing great fashion to my living room in rural Michigan!
you are incredible, Luke! Thank you!
This was fun! Thank you!
This and his Oscar outfit has me convinced that Coleman Domingo was the best dressed, for men and women, overall. Perfection 👌
Pubic wigs is what sending me 😂😂
Your channel is my happy place 💕
So enjoy your work!
Always a delight, Luke!
Thank you!!! 👏
I found the Vanity Fair after party looks to be more exciting than the show.
My fave look for the main event was Hailee Steinfeld; gorgeous in her light blue feminine confection.
My man-of-the-night was Justin Timberlake. His black suit was perfection and I loved the diamond brooch.
At a close tie was Coleman Domingo in that crystalized graphic portrait ankle-length coat. Also, his energy is next level.
His & Sydney Sweeny's moment was joyful and beautifully loving.
So glad the past penchant for dresses being plunged, wide, down to the navel was not evidenced that much, thank goodness.
Navel plunges and peplums I would be happy to see, never again!
Kylie's Jenner's garnet red dress was perfection. What 'made' it, was the narrow brighter, lighter red trim defining the straps and bra outline. Just that pop of bright red against the dark complemented a well fitted dress. She wore it well.
Didn't like Anya's look. Disliked the head cap and chunky dangling pearl drops. The plain black mini looked like those two clunky clear crystal applique up top were bought from WISH. And then the pedestrian, lace butterfly applique bridging the boobage looked to have been added as an afterthought out of spare scraps laying around the workroom floor. 🤣
Margo's champagne corset-like trapeze costume was attractive, as was the voluminous jacket cover-up. Thing is - yes, we know she's got a great body.
Same for most of these ladies playing up that fact. The ones that go full-on sheer, leaving nothing to the imagination are just straight-up exhibitionists.
As to the stiff architectural vibe? Not a fan. At all. But I get it. Designers need to find new approaches to making runway innovative &/or interesting.
I don't know what in tarnation happened to Heidi Klum. She's a world treasure. But that icky, metallic gold,
sloppy mummy- wrap she had going on was just bad; so bad. And the slicked back, wet-look darker hair, overly applied make-up, bad as well. But then again, I often find her red carpet choices questionable.
Lastly, Jennifer Lawrence in that white uber-feminine empire gown was lovely, sweet womanly perfection.
I noticed at least 4 other dresses vibing off that French Neoclassical Regency feel, but hadn't started taking notes yet or didn't know who the persons were. I recall one having a maroon red sash/poof sleeve detailing up top top over a light coral empire gown.
Another - Photogs were calling out to "BeeBee/BB (?) who also had that feminine, empire Regency vibe going on. (wish I'd have noted more detail)
Brings to mind Jeffrey Sebelius from Project Runway Season 3.
I remember he made two short dress confections: one, of white embroidered sheer, layered over a red dotted fabric w/ a lovely empire decolletage
and another comprised of a powdery tanzanite-blue, velvet (?) bodice, sashed in red beneath pretty scooped bodice flowing into a short poof of sheer white lace gathered at mildly ruffled hem. Ultra feminine and sexy w/o being in your face.
He had that empire, lacey, femininity going on and images of those feminine dresses have stayed with me all these years later.
Back to the VF party. There was a woman photogs were calling Christa, wearing what I would describe as Evening Edwardian: fitted black midi-length coat, black straight skirt or pant and outstanding exaggerated, white, elongated lace-edged collar and cuffs. Buttoned up. Cool yet still feminine!
My #1 Woman - Jenn Lawrence. The woman is pure Beauty, inside & out! Bellissima!
#1 Man - Colman in Armani Prive graphic portrait coat and
Justin Timberlake in a sleek, black suit with one high-placed side-button closure nipping in the waist and an interesting front side vent over the trouser pocket (as opposed to back vent.)
Thanks again, Luke!!!
I enjoyed all from a generous laptop screen. Nice!
I think Margot Robbie is holding that stole around her like that because of her pose. That pose is one used to create or enlarge the gap between the thighs. However, it might be exaggerating the hips/
That’s a dress🤪
Please please please can you do a reaction to Schitts Creek outfits?!?! Would love to hear more about some of the key pieces they wear!
Fun idea!
I love your content! I honestly get so excited every time you post videos like this one😍 I just have one small note... Alberto Giacometti (mentioned in regard to the Jacquemus gown worn by Emrata) is Swiss. He is honestly one of only two major visual artists who are/were Swiss. Pls don't say he is Italian. They have enough famous artists of whom they can be proud😁
Coleman Domingo’s coat is ART
I agree. That was the first look, if i am not mistaken, from Balmain's menswear collection. It made such an impact because it was so fabulous, so unique that i, as a woman, would have wanted to wear it if i had had the money to afford it.
I love your commentary I’m always like “yes💅🏽 yes💅🏽 yes💅🏽 tell🫰🏽it🫰🏽how🫰🏽it🫰🏽is💅🏽”
So what I’m trying to say, you’ve taught me a lot💙💅🏽
fabulous,so well done. bravo
I love listening to you. Your fashion evaluations along with the historical references are terrific. I can’t wait see another video. Thank you!!!
Emily Ratajkowski OMG! She looks like the doctor forgot to finish putting her in a body cast.
What is she even doing there
😂 that's a perfect description
You’re so talented Luke 🥺
Loved this ❤
I love your videos videos, you are freaking adorable, and I love your point of view. You have such a nice way about you and your delivery.
Looks like all the houses are obsessed right now with sheer dresses with embroidery / embellishments or no pants. Catherine O’Hara killed it and was a breath of fresh air.
About america ferrera's dress bottom hem: it looks like it was too short and they had extra fabric laying around
I love your content and I love this video.
I love how Colmam's sheer shirt is sheer in the places of a shirt collar and tie!
Love how the Kardashians etc are there even though they have nothing to do with acting...
now that you mention it....
The vanity fair after party doesn’t just have to do with actors/those in Hollywood. It’s supposed to be all famous people attending. AKA an after party lol.
Tired of sheer
New subscriber, love , love , love your reviews
Great analysis! Your knowledge of designers, fabrics(how they should fit, outline the body, etc), and of the great masters of couture, fascinated me. Worth watching
Luke basically had my same feeling about Cynthia's dress. It was essentially a Monet: From far away, it's okay, but up close, it's a big ol' mess. 🤷🏽♀😂
That Robert Wan outfit is gorgeous.
Absolutely stunning. I’d wear that in a heartbeat.
So many favorites this time, oh gosh!
