I listened to this song over and over after I lost my mom. I would run the beach in hermosa beach where I live. Listening to your music, helped me. Miss ya MOM! Thanks for the inspiration.
Just wanted to comment to bring you back here for a bittersweet memory.
GEEEEEEEEZ. That snare sounds M A S S I V E. Love it dude. So tight.
Man, when Goold hits that pocket... 😍
Great work as always
This songs is GOOD, and about Steve's Drum performance. It's like most professions or crafts. The young aprentice tends to over complicate things, and then as you mature in your Craft, you start learning that less is more. And this is exactly that. It's not the amount of notes you hit, but where they are placed. Timing is just perfect. This is what Great drumming, and music is about. Keeping it Simple, but well executed. Good Job Guys. P.S, I watched this video countless times and still never get tired of it.
Thank you, Brian!
Your snare gives me life.
Ha... thanks man. :)
The second chorus, the way you vary it up, just so slightly to add flavor but not distract, is wonderful.
Thank you!
Pocket for days. I like the BFSD transfer to the Steve's Donut at the end too.
Yessir! That snare sound is beautiful, but your pocket is making me smile
So tight man! Love your style
Omg i love this song so much thank you 🙏🏼😭❤️❤️❤️
Steeeeveee, that felt sooo goooddd!! It’s all about groove!!
Beautiful playing!
Thanks guys! @Alec Parrish... we multi-tracked the gig from the FOH board, so this is a "real" mix that my engineer at CCV did.
Solid! Enjoy this perspective!
So musical... so good
Beautiful
Snare sound from heaven.
God... That was soo damn good steve!!!
Amazing.
Great song, great drum cam
I love your drumming... Great pocket, great chops, very creative!
Ahh... when you guys go into that groove in the second verse, it just feels SO good. Well done, Ben, Cody, Kevin, and Steve. You guys are truly a dream team; you've got something special going on there.
Thanks Jackson :)
Great Mix!
Cody Fry on the guitar! That's a monster set of vocals for BGVS!
Love your drumming, you've got a great big groovy pocket!
Nice playing and energy!
Beautifully played, not easy to serve a song with that feeling. I discovered you guys from a tribute video on a dog loss and your audience could feel lucky to have had you supporting Tim McGraw!
Thanks so much!
What a feeling dude
Gah this mix is actually perfect.
We need drum cam for the rest of this show...
Yeah dude def upload more on this channel.
Your drumcam vids are great.
Thanks man. I'm trying to balance how many vids I put here vs on my lesson website. Check out the Drum Library if you haven't already! (link in description)
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
This deserve more views than it has..
Good playing, like always dude! Good angle for the video too 👍🏼
Thanks!
Great song truth in the these words 💔💔💔how do u let go i truly need to know the answer
Hey man particularly loving that tight snare sound on this tune!
I saw Wongs IEM video of you guys, and I'm really digging your click! Is it in any way available online or something?
Great work man
nice feel... is there any snare sample added to the mix?
Steve - I'd love to know what the drum portion of your kit consists of and do you choose the micing?
Your kick sounds great and I'm curious if you've got a 91A in it or something else? As much as you care/have time to share about the kit and mics would be awesome and appreciated.
Are you having to do much with Ableton or is it pretty set? Are you using any kind of controller for it? Would love to see your Ableton setup if you feel like making a video! lol Sounds great!
Is this what you hear in your IEM? Sounds really clear... and nice drumming btw!! Served the song really well how a pro drummer does.
I love your snare sound my man! Have any videos with Jason gray? ---(soon to come) lol
I'd definitely love to see those!
Where's Cory Wong this tour? Love your playing Steve. You're a true pro! Do you chart the songs out, or have notes you follow? Or do you have everything totally memorized? I'd imagine at the end of the tour you'd have it all pretty well down but it's always cool to see how drummers remember their parts. I play on our worship team, as well as in multiple bands around town. My go to is just the notepad on my Galaxy Tab.
Thanks for the kind words, John. I actually have a very developed charting method that I use. There's a few lessons about it on my lesson website!
(Wong was in Europe with Vulfpeck when we were on these Tim McGraw dates.)
Hey man, great playing...nice music...sorry for asking again, but...what you will recomend for all around hi-hats and ride? 15, 22 paiste dark masters or 602 series 15 & 22?
Haha.. yes... these are different models than my other vids. I use the Masters Darks in "smaller" settings (churches, theaters, clubs) and then in larger settings (arenas, outdoors) I use the 602 Modern Essentials. This rig is a 16" crash as top hihat with a Masters original 16" bottom, 22" crash, and 22" ride. All are 602 ME except the bottom hihat.
MMMMM! That snare and that kick are so fat! YESSS!
Hi Steve. Great stuff! Would you mind listing your cymbal choices here? They sound great.
Paiste 602 Modern Essentials!
22" ride
22" crash
16" crash as hihat top
16" Twenty Series hihat bottom (discontinued)
ANY tips on how to get that snare sound live? Thank you.
It's all about that Big Fat Snare Drum muffle!!!
@@stephengoold there was my answer 😇🙏 keep up the good work.
Does anyone know what cymbals he uses? They sound absolutely amazing!
Hi Adam! The cymbals in this vid are all Paiste 602 Modern Essential series...
- 16" crashes (as hats)
- 22" thin crash (L side)
- 22" ride (R side)
Wow, 🙏 What snare do you use? Muffling?
Really inspiring to follow you 🥁👌👌
Pocket/ tastey treats
