    Senator Kennedy always, not my brother. A distinction of class and knowledge, not seen today. RIP JFK.

    What an interesting glimpse into the 1960 Kennedy campaign. It was somewhat difficult to watch, knowing of the tragedy in store, but having such audio / video documents available is a treasure ... and the "RCA 501 Computer" was a hilarious spectacle 🙂 ...

    A young David Brinkley. I also loved his dry wit and sense of humor.

    So nice to hear even-tempered fact-based speaking. What would Robert Kennedy think of campaigning today? Great to notice he was for finance reform.

    It's fun watching them at the start before they became comfortable with their public speaking personalities.

    How different is was sixty two years ago. No vulgar demeaning rhetoric as so prevalent today. Tough questions by the reporters involved with a fairly candid response from RFK. Interesting his response to organized crime and labor racketeering and having no place in the Kennedy administration.

      Yeah you're just an example of a short attention span, there have been lots of dirty campaigns going all the way back to 1800 a campaign that ruined a great friendship between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, eventually they somewhat reconciled and would write letters to each other but never spoke in person again

    I can’t believe they actually let them talk without interrupting every 10 seconds. I wish our Marxist/communists educator’s teaching journalism in our universities would use tapes like this showing what real journalism is.

    Emory Roberts rode shotgun in the back up car head of the Secret Service Detail that day at Dealey Plaza. When the President got shot, Emory Roberts was in charge thereafter. Nobody ever talks about that. He took charge of everything, and immediately got Johnson onto Air Force One to leave Dallas and be sworn in going to Washington or if necessary a safe place to protect him. Emory was my neighbor in Wheaton, Md. on Holdridge Rd.
    Most of this is in Dealey Plaza -
    In the early morning it was scheduled to rain in Dallas and the Secret Service was setting up to install the canopy on the car. The forecast changed and the President wanted to be seen by the crowds, and besides the President did not want ir put on. So it was not put on.
    So as to not make JFK negligent in his death, it was bandied about that there were no foot stands on the rear of the car for Secret Service to ride on. Clearly you can see two foot stands on the rear bumper of the car with handrails to hang on. Clint Hills is stepping on one to get onto the back of the car to be with Jackie. There is just bogus story after bogus story surrounding JFK's assasination.

      @@jamiegofigure2869 The Kennedy brothers were centrist Democrats, in their time Cold Warriors. Bobby moved to the left for political reasons as a senator, while it seems he was genuinely aligned with the social needs of the poor and oppressed, and confident that the rich were doing just fine (and besides, Republicans would always look after the rich). Joe Biden was a working class Democrat growing up. That's his core sensibility. He served in the Senate as a centrist, and for two terms he served a Democratic centrist president as VP. By 2020, with advanced age his presidential ambitions had long since quelled. But with the country imperiled worse than in all our lifetimes, he stepped up. I'm glad he did.

    • @onamattapeeya
      @onamattapeeya Před rokem +4

      I'm a lifelong Centrist, so much so that I had to leave the Democratic party in 2016, they went too far to the left and Hillary basically buying the nomination was the last straw for me, neither party is what they used to be

    • @caseynova1
      @caseynova1 Před rokem

      @@onamattapeeya Who is "they"? Do you mean the DNC, the party organization itself? But their job is to elect Democrats. They put their money and resources behind what they consider good bets, not more left or more centrist. It just doesn't work that way. "Is this a viable race? Is this a legit candidate?" Or do you mean that most elected Democrats "went to the left"? Because members of Congress reflect their districts. There are, in fact, very few leftists in Congress. To the extent there are those few, likewise they reflect their districts. The voters want leftists. Same as in Red States and districts that elect Republicans prefer homophobic bigots, racists, Q nuts, etc. I'm not calling you wrong or right but it's my opinion that Hillary Clinton was a centrist just like her husband. The right wing painted the Clintons as leftists, which is rather a joke. They were conservative Dems. Look at his policies. Look at her votes and polices as a US Senator. Corporate Democrats. "We have liberal sensibilities but we want to be elected so we can do a few things for the people, and that means, if unfortunately, we gotta be in bed with the moneymakers." Obama and Biden are centrists. Joe is about as center as they make 'em.

      @@caseynova1 learn to understand context Casey Jones, read the previous sentence, even a trump supporter until I was talkin about Democratic Leadership, yes it is the dnc's place to put forward candidates they will think will win, it is not their place to take a large amount of cash from Hillary Clinton and then give her the nomination, Bernie was clearly The People's Choice, and that's one of the main reasons I left the party because they lost most of what little moral High Ground they have left
