I always remember my biology teacher telling us that when someone says they don't remember because they were drunk it was simply a lie. While you may not remember everything in detail as someone who is sober, but you will still remember what you always did...it's been almost 16 years now and I never forgot the teacher's words.

South Korea's justice system is so messed up... If a perpetrator was drunk during the crime, they show leniency when sentencing. If a r*pist writes a letter of reflection, they get time off of their sentence. If someone has wealth to line the pockets of those in charge of the case, the scale tips in your favor drastically. Injustices are swept under the rug far too often, the police often drop cases or twist them to fit their narrative, women are treated as low-class citizens, and foreigners are treated horribly compared to Korean citizens. I hope when the newer generation gets in power positions in the country, some positive changes occur in their legal system and police force.

On top of all that, no one thinks about or helps the victims. Which probably helps contribute to korea's high rates of depression and su*cide.

no wonder the verdict became like that, its quite clear the perpetrator had been privileged with his behavior and had a credit card too. its a problem in korean society with chaebol. in the end it would be better to refuse drunk passenger rather than to accommodate them. alcohol is as dangerous as firearm. he may got punched but he could easily got strangled and died.

@@CaramelPepper they kept scolding the girl for being with him (that’s a weird response not saying their intentions were bad) instead of calling out the guys behavior-it’s like telling someone to not get run over by a car…well obviously I am not actively seeking it but it might happen-abusive situations mostly start out nice and most don’t notice signs until they are deep into a relationship-they might not leave for psychological reasons, financial reasons or they had a child together…also Korea is not that equal to both sexes so the response felt tone deaf and kinda left a sour taste in my mouth

@@damlaemin6066 but that’s the thing dear, not everyone is like that. the reason it’s forbidden in islam is because scientifically it’s bad for your body and especially your kidneys lungs and liver, you humiliate or embarrass yourself while drunk without realizing it, someone might take advantage of you because your not sober, you might hurt someone whether it’s a stranger or someone you love (which you see a lot in domestic abuse), and in ways it might turn into m*rder. then you wake up the next day and you just don’t remember anything or when you do you’ve already made the biggest mistake in your life. if you wanna have fun, have fun sober i promise you will enjoy it so much better especially if you’re with the right people.

The driver reacted bored as the man assaulted the woman, did not stop the car first by his own acount, didn't make a move and even accepted the credit card when given without a single word of disapproval or moving to call the police. A bystander who will only witness violence and move on! Then he got assaulted too... This is why one should always behave morally and stand up against violence, refuse to tolerate even if afraid. Who can predict the future? What happens when things scalate and you become a target? If you're a victim, you'll wish for help. The lady could've left wordlessly and maybe worse things would come to happen were it not for her trying (although not much sucessful). He's blessed that not everybody reacts as he did when they're scared. Hopefully his trauma will fade away with time to heal and treatment. For us watching, let it be a lesson.

It scares me that he is maybe used to that kind of behaviour 😢 of drunk men abusing their gfs/ spouses so he maybe tried to stay away to not get involved. I also hate being a bystander but I guess he is trying to make a living too and to be told “you started the aggression” might be used against him, I am sure his company will fire him too (since they worship their customers).
Ugh this world is so so disgusting. She was really kind though because she stood up for the driver (at least as best as she can❤) so good people still exist.
