  • Uncle Larry turns over some rocks on the shallow shores of the mysterious River of Life, and takes a few pictures with God’s camera that he found laying on a park bench…with the lens zoomed out as far as it can go.
Oh, and he tries out a pedal too…
i want to sincerely thank the dear boys at Universal Audio for sending over a nice coffee mug and comfy t shirt...much appreciated my friends.
if you are feeling like your life sucks, watch this about 3 times in a row, hug your kids and have a beer....call your boss and say "thank you for the opportunity to make a living"

My Mexican friend T-Bird told me that joke when I was 17 and we were pouring cement. I'm 3/4 Hispanic so I'm permitted to tell this joke.

Uncle Larry, it’s important that you understand how much your listeners get out of your “classes”. It’s not merely the technical mastery you share but possibly more important, the wisdom you share. For context, imagine how much you would have loved getting to hear Chet Atkins or Merle Travis share their early experiences both in the studio and out. I hope that puts it in the right perspective. We love you man.

Neil Young said it best in “This Old Guitar”
This old guitar ain't mine to keep
Just taking care of it now
It's been around for years and years
Just waiting in its old case
It's been up and down the country roads
    It's brought a tear and a smile
It's seen its share of dreams and hopes
And never went out of style
The more I play it, the better it sounds
It cries when I leave it alone
    Silently it waits for me
    Or someone else I suppose

I don't normally comment on anything but, Tom just said something in this video that is so true and bares repeating to every guitar owner to consider ... "Just of yourself as the custodian of that instrument until your death. That's what I do. Nobody owns anything, we are just holding. We are renting these instruments for our lifetimes."

Thank you for that perspective and "zoom out" on life. My wife says to me every day "Each day is a gift" and younger me would readily agree and identify with it as a pleasant platitude, but 62 year old me, having lost too many friends and family, recognizes it at a visceral level. It's always so good to be reminded. Good on ya, Buk!

I used to step into Mass St. Music when I was in school in Lawrence. I never saw the 38 Martin... At that time, they sold mostly new fenders, so I wasn't a huge fan. All the guitar nerds would spend time in Whitey's. He had racks of vintage guitars and other oddballs that he picked up at guitar auctions across the country. I still have one of the guitars I bought from him and it's a one in a million guitar. Everyone who plays it can't believe how much better it is than their favorite. My family can sell it when I die. Until then, it will always be in my collection.

I'll tell you the story some day 8) One of the last times I was in the hospital there was a sweet young lady that brought my lunch and dinner every day, she was a bit socially challenged. She asked my name every time, even after a week. So I started saying "Fred Flintstone". She thought that was so funny, so every day after that it was "here's your lunch Mr, Flintstone, here's your dinner Mr. Flintstone". It was great to see her smile and we became friends. She has a hard time with life sometimes, and that made me feel good. Sorry for rambling 8( --gary

Larry, I love the way you approach the blues. So much more than straight ahead pentatonics. Thanks for sharing!!

I got to say something, remember the Wrecking Crew session guys and Muscle Shaols, man, as someone standing outside looking in, you're at par with them. I really enjoy your videos, I love your input on life as a musician. Not always easy but it's something you enjoy and I'm sure you wouldn't trade that life for anything else. Cheers and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

You are so correct about how good we have it. Even the homeless have it better than they would most places. Not that I think homeless don't need a bit of help. some really do and some just do not want to work and prefer that lifestyle. Why? I have no clue.

Uncle Larry I purchased an Eric Johnson signature strat because he had the bound neck added. Very cool guitar. Love that Firebird
