Love it Tom, there's an old saying that as a farmer you probably know only too well and that's (Pardon the language) "Shit happens!" I bet you are really happy that now the land has dried enough and you've been out spreading the till you are able to get out and put the muck on. I can tell by the videos you've been itching to start getting rid of the pile and tidy up the yard. Muck is muck until you can get it on the land then it becomes gold dust! A little slurry as they say goes a long way and with the kit you've got there now I'm sure it wont take you long. The weather for the next few days looks good, so fingers crossed the forecast is right and you can crack on with the job. 👌👍

I work at a Newholland dealership in Belgium, witch is almost the same thing as case. One of the differences between them is the way they use nameplates. The Newholland equivalent to your case maxxum 145 is actually a Newholland T6.175.
In the nameplates, case uses the basic horsepower, where newholland uses the maximum horsepower. The boost kicks in on two occasions; driving at high speeds, and engaging the PTO.
What I am trying to point out here is that your tractor doesn't just put out 145 pony's, but about 175 when you are using the PTO.

When I was on the farm 25 odd years ago Tom we had a Hillam tanker 3000g Big lump and it was either pulled by a 1056xl or a Zetor 9245 about 90hp. Your tractor will pull it with ease in the dry. It will be if it's wet where the issues lie.

100% correct that this tanker FULL floats better than the tractor ;) I once hit a wet spot, made huge tracks with the tractor, couldn't reverse so I had to drive over, tanker 3000 gallons flew over, not floated, flew over... almost annoying but a huge relive.

Through expierience, (this is just us) major tanks have typically lasted less than other manufactures. The most popular around our area would probably be hi-spec or Abbey. We have 2 Cross Engineering tanks and both of them have done very well while in our possession. Very reliable, nice design, quality build etc. Our newest one was a prototype though so it did have teething trouble because it was one of the first the first long barrel galvanized 3500 gallon tanks in Ireland but ever since the few issues have been fixed it hasnt given any trouble. Worth looking into them if your going for somthing like that. A 140hp tractor will run a 3500 gallon tank on flat ground well enough. Steep ground would require a bit more power.

Bit of an obvious Comment, this, but I really do like the use of drone cameras in farming videos. Some CZcams peeps just cram in aerial shots because it's trendy (testing sports cars or fishing for pike or playing football or riding a bike or whatever), but with a farming video the views are genuinely useful. Fields and yards and tracks and ditches need to be seen, not just described.
The long shot of Tom's first load of slurry spreading with the big tanker was especially good because it showed exactly how much land could be covered with 2,300 gallons of muck. I'm not a farmer, so it's incredibly helpful to see what's what.

  • @Borninthedenmark
    @Borninthedenmark Před 4 lety

    Hey Tom,
Obviously you would have to make a profitability analysis of the purchase, which includes interest, usage, price for new, price for old, scrap value, etc. In regards to overlapping, it's not ideal. However I think some still do it, since you spread your slurry instead of putting it down in the earth, when spreading the efficiency is fairly lower and you just do it to kinda do what you gotta do to meet plants nitrogen needs.

They have had them on the Mudguards for years now . Most of the accidents on farms are from lack of maintenance and stupidity. For instance people pushing straw into balers when blocked while still running with their foot all you have to do is carry a few wee sticks and if they get caught who care let her chomp them up easier to replace a cheap stick than your foot. Familiarity breeds comtempt. My old man always preaches it and he was main tractor ma n for contractor for years never had any accidents that way. Also never ever walk below a raised loader if a ram busts at least in old one it will come down and kill you. And alot of idiots not having brakes and handbrakes working also. Common sense saves lives, No matter how well you know a machine always be careful and use think before you do. Stay safe and have fun

What kind of engine is in your hurliman. We run a 2000 gallon tanker on a 130hp Massey 5713. That’s a 4 cylinder turbo engine in it. It could manage a larger tanker but it wouldn’t do it any good. For 2300 you would probably want a 6 cylinder 100-140hp tractor with a good set of weights on the front to keep her steady.

10,000 litre tanker. Your Case could easily pull a 12,000 litre [2600 gallon] tanker and from experience of hauling and spreading nearly 400 loads of 10,000 litres each annually, the bigger the tanker the better as long as you can pull it up your steepest fields as necessary. The less drudgery the better, as it releases you to be more productive in the time saved.

Tom, you want to check out "Farm Fixing & Fabricating" CZcams channel. Some proper slurry tankers and 8 big tyres on their massive John Deere tractors, big operation. Of course it's in the USA, everything is bigger lol. .

You need to get self steer & sat nav on that tractor then you could do more drone work while tanking! :P
Fist field did look like one side was getting more than the other, second field seemed more even. Did you change anything?

as a big cnh fan im loving to see that case in work, i dont have a maxxum myself anymore but we have a 2020 puma175 cvx and a 2016 puma 165cvx and the 16 model still looks like brand new inside the cab. kinda hoping you will give the maxxum the cleaning it deserves for doing such a great job ;P
i know a tractor is a tractor but nothing wrong with keeping your "office" clean now is it? also where are your gloves ? :P
