@@m.r.1514 We have heard the theory on this channel before that the Minotaurs were a chimeric chapter, based upon traitor stock. Combine Iron Warrior and Death Guard gene-seed and you have probably the physically toughest, most relentless assholes in the galaxy

@Sturm und Drang Being Chimeric doesn't mean is has to have three or more components, just that it is a hybrid. That said, you are probably right and the Minotaurs are created from more than just traitor stock, there would most certainly be some loyalist gene-seed in there too, probably Imperial Fist DNA for their similarly intractable nature and skill at siege warfare, which would be ironic if I'm right about them being part Iron Warrior...

    In an alternative heresy,
    Burning another galaxy,
Deep bellow the imperial palace walls,
In the total darkness, sons of one of the most bloody and brutal of the Emperor's Legions were preparing themselves for the coming conflict with raising anticipation.
They walled off all accessways into the palace and started to destroy all landmarks to make the battleground all the more disorienting.
Their plan was simple and straight to the point: hit and run tactics while making the enemy split up over the vast network of tunnels/galleys and paths, denying them use of their greater numbers while gaining local numerical superiority.
All that would enter this section of the underground war would be considered an enemy and to that end they sent a last voxcast reporting the situation, warning all allies to stay away and that they: "Would be His monster in the dark depth"
As the Emperor heard the last bit he chuckled and declared that if they would be his minotaurs in the labyrinth then he atleast would send them a guiding light and among his Custodians he choose one whose wrath and preferences for melee combat resonated with the legioners of the XII.
After the horrific conclusion to the herresy no conter-order could be given by the Emperor and the named Minotaurs refused to leave holy Terra without their leader.
And so it comes to pass that even after 10 millennia the Chapter Master of the Minotaurs is a warrior of the Adeptus Custodes, a new one chosen each time the old Chapter Master falls, forevermore binding their fury to the Captain-General's command and throu him, The Emperor's will.

For everyone complaining about decapitation, there is a very simple explanation. For everything that is weird about him.
If Asterion has his skull armor plated, with the implants we see being part of a life support system, then he could theoretically "pilot" his power armor even if his body was too damaged to move properly. That would allow him to keep fighting no matter how damaged his body got, since his brain would be the only thing he needs to keep fighting. This would involve tweaking the mind-machine interface, but the existence of dreadnoughts proves such feats are not only possible but accepted by the Mechanicum. Him coming back from a decapitation would be a simple as recovering both his head and body, reattaching them together, and possibly some cybernetics to reconnect the spinal column to the brain stem

Might explain why the Minotaurs were originally said to have World Eaters gene seed, since Arik Taranis harvested the progenoid glands from the marines killed in the Outcast Dead. Maybe the High Lords know about this and that's why they listen to the High Lords of Terra so they don't get BLAM'd by the Inquisition.

I'm betting on LORD Asterion Moloc being a Custodian. For his honey badgerness, noticeable height differential, modified Guardian Spear, and the possibility the High Lords (of which the Captain-General of the Custodes is one) wanting one to keep tabs on their lapdogs.
    *clicks play*
Yeah...yeah, pretty much. Perhaps the Minotaurs started off with a regular marine as Chapter Master when the Chapter was founded, then changed to a Custodian when the High Lords' rotation led to the Captain-General getting a seat. Get one of their boys off Terra to stretch his legs, exert influence amongst the Astartes, etc.

Wouldn't a custodes stand out a bit though? They are quite a bit more formidable in strenght and fighting skill, not to mention their difference in fighting style. Cant imagine fellow chapter astartes would be fooled for long. Unless they are in on it.
What if he's the one who's supposed to infiltrate terra in their wargames? He's just taking the scenic route.

Asterion Molec is Arik Tanaris, Taranis was able to clone a new set progenitor glands from the geneseed of dead astartes. He then implanted the geneseeds into some of his soldiers and probably himself to preserve and heal his dying body. Tanaris was/is probably the only other person to know how to do this besides the Emperor and Cawl. With this knowledge plus his knowledge and experience of warfare, he could have the means and the will to create a chapter of Astartes, it also would give him the power to command an immense amount of fear, respect, auctoritas, among the high lords of Terra. It could explain how he's been alive for over 10,000 years. The fortunes he won in the unification Wars plus his illegal gangster empire, then the tech that came out of the geneseed cloning, plus the help of a select few of the high lords and or noble houses, would give him the means. Also, he got the original geneseed from either Artharva's body or one or both of the World Eater twins Subha and Asubha. Probably the worldeaters, it would explain the Minotaurs berserky disposition. This would be awesome and is already canon in my mind.

I think option 1 is he just is unnaturally resilient due to his augmented Geneseed.
Option 2 is that the Custodes formed that chapter as a arm for them to use since they where bound to Terra during the cursed founding and since they had better access to Geneseed they succeeded where others failed. Then Moloc could be a Warden who was promoted to take up the role of Chapter Master and complete the Custodes and High Lords will

You should do a videos discussing possible reasons why the emperor didn't simply clone the lost primarchs or the very damaged ones like the nighthaunter and angron. especially if he had the unaltered perwarp samples that wouldn't have had the memories that primarch clones seem to have. one is that clones seem to be weaker, Fulgrim seemed to be able to effortlessly kill the ferrus clones and abaddon was able to kill the Horus clone. Recall lorgar, the least skilled combatant among the brothers was able to mow down space marines like wheat at the drop site massacre. Horus who was considered the strongest even before the choas gods boosted him should be untouchable. my theory is that the emperor added something metaphysical to the originals that he could recreate, like part of his own essence.

I have another theory. I believe that Asterion may have fallen to Khorne. Asterion is said to have died 7 times. If I remember correctly 7 is Khornes number. he and his chapter are also said to be extremely agressive, even more so than most other astartes, similar to Khornate berserkers. Additionally as stated in the video he has multiple cybernetic augmentations, and at 13:23 or thereabouts he is pictured with what looks like the Butchers Nails protruding from his scalp. Isn't it possible that one of these implants could have been the Nails?

I think he was a custodian that was super bored of killing rats and did not want to remove his armor and be covered in bodyoil only instead of kitten his reaction to being asked to wear nothing but a loincloth and bodyoil was answered with violent headbutts so when the minotaurs were founded as a lapdog for the highlords he was simply given the chapter so he could kill things that needed killing and stop headbutting his brothers.
