Don’t know if someone else already mentioned, but my grandma who was born in the 1880s was a teacher and a librarian. She collected poems and readings and pasted them over large old book pages. She used them in her classrooms. She belonged to several ladies clubs and the programs often consisted of members giving readings. She enjoyed reading through her collections as self entertainment also. One collection that she gave me was in a fabric sample book that she used the fabric in small sewing projects and then covered the pages with sentimental poems and short fables. Thank you for your chatty videos. I try most of your projects and feel like you are a friend. I am 75 years old and house bound in Austin, Texas.
Lovely story...you should have your own channel!❤
Butterflies go wherever they please and please wherever they go. This is one of my favorite quotes, I love Butterflies. X
I'm 79 years old and my grandma crave used to cut out for tree from newspapers and glue them into old magazines or little school notebooks whatever she could find. And my great-aunt used to cut out pictures and recipes and put them in what would cause scrapbooks back then. And I did that in my early years as a young married woman and I still have one of them with recipes in it. Maybe that's why I love junk journaling
My grandmother saved clippings about different subjects in different wallpaper sample books. My late husband and I found one that was about a particular army battalion during WWII and donated it to them. I think that people back then used whatever was available to them to make scrapbooks or journals. She had another one of everyone who went to our school and entered the military during WWII, she also had the newspaper article about them being discharged, wounded, killed, or missing in action. It was a group of 3 very small towns that went to school together and everything about the war was big news.
In the ledger, sometimes they call it a "commonplace book" with either stuff they cut out and saved or maybe even their own writing, recipes or memories they wanted to save. Favorite quotes, or whatever.
Hey Pam this is a great idea, back in the day I use to envelope all my money to budget myself. Each pay day I would fill up my envelopes with cash needed for groceries, gas, entertainments etc... was a great way to budget and this project would have been great for that. Hope you're having a great week!
Hey Kelly Lea! I love your idea of enveloping all your money to budget yourself! I'm gonna try it!! Thanks for sharing your idea! Stay safe!!
~Janet in Canada
@@mastersadvocate thanks Janet! Hope it works for you 😄
Very cute idea
I still use the envelope method for bill paying! Glad I'm not the only one! 😉
Whatever would we do without envelopes!
I did the same! Great minds think alike!
Pam,
My great aunt was a single registered nurse with an active social life in Chicago. She loved to entertain. We found her large cook book chronicled her life with all her interests in gardening, recipe and entertainment trends, nature, magazine ads and newspaper clippings of the who's who of socialites and obits from the 4o's-60's. I've also got wallpaper books used as chronicles and one with Tarro (Trionfi, the fool or joker) from Italy.
Love when you do non sewn tutorials, Pam! This is one of my faves, for sure so I thank you for sure!
Old fashioned scrapbooking. Wow that ledger is "Raw Gold"
“In the land of pretty straight”….that’s me as well 🥰❤️. Beautiful ideas for young people. Thank you for sharing.
I would like to see more journal making from books. Altering a book.
"the land of pretty straight"
hilarious
You are so fun! You sound like a person that would be a blast to have a craft day with. Thanks for all the different ideas!
This is to cute! I LOVE EMILY DICKINSON. Her poetry was not published until she passed away.
The microwave tip works great with masking tape to !
Had to do it on the 4th to help mom tape something. 👍😊💞
A bit of trivia: "Canvass" has a different meaning than "canvas" (as in what we would paint on). I only know this because I worked for a local municipality and we would do a "canvass" each year to find out what businesses were located in our city, which had moved out, etc. Love, love, love the booklet!! TFS!
The old ledger looks like one my grandma did. She put recipes cut out of newspapers and pasted them in it. And I loved it.
Wow that is interesting. I know people used to use old newspapers as wallpaper. But this ledger book seems like someone wanted to save certain things. LIke these were cut out and glued in
My gramma did as well and I have one of her books. She was born in 1898. Have to look after these things. 😊
envelopes, old ledger scrapbook and Sunny........👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼many thanks❣️❣️❣️
I’m starting to collect envelopes, cereal boxes with their sticky liners, and finding saved stickers from years ago. Thanks for showing that anyone can make fun and pretty junk journals. Sticky hugs. My husband thinks I’ve gone over the edge.
I've been making a new journal for myself, and I love all of your helpful videos, you're a great inspiration to remind me to work on mine, however I don't have much for scraps of paper, except for these silly receipts from my food and things that I must buy, I see that I want paper punches and a bag of colored paper scraps...but I must be careful and buy Ziploc bags, to keep everything from getting soggy and soaked from the rain; bcuz I live outside, til I get my Housing...your house sounds like fun, dogs, birds & small kids, running around loose....I was under the impression that you were a grandma and this was your way to relax
My grandmother had a book that was from her grandmother or great-grandmother it was just like that. It had all kinds of recipes glued onto the pages of an old textbook. And when they got writing paper they put the writing paper glued the paper on the book pages and wrote recipes in it. And there were recipes for food but also recipes for poultices and all sorts of crazy things. It was just a way for them to keep track of things they needed to keep track of. Even gardening information. Each generation added to the book. Coolest thing I ever saw.
I recently found your channel and have been watching them one after one and creating one of the “big books” for three days straight now. It’s been helping with my mental health so much. You’re so lovely and help so much!!!
The same thing happened to me. She has a podcast too that is wonderful!!!
Isn't she just wonderful? Also love the birds in the background. They add to her magic. And of course sweet Sonny too.
@@lovelyscraftinglodge I’ll definitely give it a listen!
Same here!! I wake up early in the morning I put her videos to play on my iPad.
Love Pam’s videos. Binge-watched until 3:00am one night. Really helps with my anxiety disorder!
There is a Humane Society thrift store in my area that I go to VERY often. All proceeds go to caring for adoptable dogs and cats (no kill). So....I stopped in there last Friday to "look around!" I found a box of about 500 brand new #10 envelopes that I knew I could use so I bought them! I am so happy you did a tutorial on using envelopes!!! Great timing! I am going to make this....several actually. 500 envelopes can go a long way and thankfully at least 6 will be a start!!! 😂
You're the BEST! Tfs! 💗😊
Love these envelopes - a fun way to gift a friend some ephemera or embellishments. 🤗💕🦋
I enjoy your videos, not only for the content but for you. Your personality is just so fun. You sound like the type of person I'd have a ton of fun hanging out with. I love when you talk to yourself in the 3rd person and you talk as if the pieces you are working on are alive.. lol
I love this and I worked along with you and made one. I am new to all this at 62 years old but I love crafting. Thank you so much. Xx
Pam is truly so creative, original, always coming up with ideals I have never seen, it is my favorite thing she does, always inspires me to be brave and go do my own thing. Thank you Pam! Almost forgot, LOVE the old ledger!!
This would be nice to send someone happy mail in. These are really neat, I will give it a try. Thanks so much.🇨🇦
Hi Pam, this project looked like a lot of fun. Easy, quick and good instructions. Not only do you have good ideas, but your personality shines through. It's easy to see why you have so many subscribers. 💙
I look forward to Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday early morning drinking coffee and watching Pam craft. Thanks Pam for sharing your love of paper, scissors and glue and creating with all of us. You are appreciated!

Good morning, from Greece! 🙋👏👍
Several articles on ledger scrapbooks if you google search ledger scrapbooks…….nothing wasted back in the day! Love your envelope video today….nothing wasted today either!!
@Lady in The Mountains....exactly what I was thinking. Pam as you were making this I was thinking about cascading the envelopes to make it easier access to the bottom envelope. What a great little ephemera folder!
I'm in a little handicapped, so I can't walk throughout the big stores, so sometimes I have to wait in the van while my husband runs in. This would be a great little ephemera pack to grab and do some crafting while I wait on him. Great idea! I'm thinking a nature booklet, butterflies, mushrooms, flowers, etc.
Beautiful envelope book.
This old book with news paper clippings, brings back memories.
News was a big deal, sharing & reading articles over the phone, sending news paper clippings through the mail, from my Mom, Wow.
& my mother inl-aw has clippings in her diary from 1930's.
Fabulous glue news paper in books, * the date ! Wow again.
My first time watching you, I made the envelope booklet right along with you, I really like it. Keep doing these same kind of projects. I’m a new subscriber. Thanks
Perfect idea for my granddaughters sticker book
I have 2 or 3 old agriculture books that my great grandmother clipped poetry out of newspaper and glued in them and 1 book has comic clippings!!! Love them!
i just love your videos, can't believe i waited till almost 70 to start this awesome hobby. im working in your pocket booklet so cool!
I love the sound effects you make, they remind me of my late FIL. And every time i hear someone making sound effects I think of him!! Thank you for all the fun and helpful paper junk journaling videos!! Blessings.
Do you think you could do 12 per side? Would love to do advent/bucket Christmas list for gifts
Awe, many blessings Mary :)

I love your videos. You waste no time getting into the project and explain as you go. I dont have the patience to sit through videos for a long time and not really much done or taught. I like your personality it makes it fun while learning.
This would be perfect for people who use the money envelope system! Super cute! Love it! I might make one for Christmas reciepts!!! Each kid gets an envelope gift ideas and reciepts after purchased. So useful after Christmas for returns! Genius
This has been one of the best spent hours for my weary mind! I have seizures and I cannot read nor write for very long anymore. Its been quite a test on me. I thank my good Lord I can still craft! I'm going to make some of these to carry in your purse! Groceries! Birthday planning! Christmas gift planning! The ideas are endless..you are my new inspiration! I love how you talk to yourself..at least you know someone is listening! 🥰 I truly love you and I'm happy I found you!
You could even make it with 12 envelopes and see all the wonderful things that happened in the year!
Great idea! Maybe that’s the invention of the original junk journal!
Love the use of the envelopes. That is a great item to make. It would be fun to make one for my granddaughters and put little items in there for them. The old ledger is so neat. Sunny is just eat up with cute. Have a great week. Big hugs to all. ❤️❤️❤️
I have a ledger that my grandmother's dad had given her. I know that because some pages are clearly names and dates and it's a record of cattle bought and sold an amounts paid for feed. On top of it she started by writing out songs and poems that she would have learned as a child or a young woman later it contains recipes for everything from Baltimore cake to Chick feed.
There's some lovely love poetry and the name of my grandfather written in her handwriting across many of the pages which was clearly before she was married :-)
Your quirky personality is my favorite. 💜
You must be great at reading books out loud with all the cute & funny voices you do. My dog says you sound a lot like me too 😁🐶
I’m addicted to watching these videos on 2x speed. It suits your inflections perfectly, especially when you have a little row with yourself. It just cracks me up. 😂 the crafting is great too! 🇬🇧👍🏻
I just love the way you work and make pretty things listening to your birds and listening and I will do mine and my birds are singing to me while I do my crafts
Wow, the ledger is so neat. Love the project too, very cute idea. Hi to Sunny, he's so cute.
This is still one of my favorites that you've ever done
My mom made a Halloween junk journal for me and left it half unfinished so I could add my own touch to it also. We're both crafters and love the journals ❤
Pam,
I just love 💕 this .
What a great idea! I have older Aunties & if I do for one I must do for the other 😇 this is something I can do for all of them 😂 & it won’t be so time consuming.
They still have a lot of their photos in boxes and old love letters & show tickets 🎟️.
Watch what I do with vintage tags and etc.
They are going to love it.
Thank you so much for sharing 😘
Hi Pam, I really like your idea about the envelopes, and also your idea of making the signatures for a journal. I have not made my first journal yet, but I’m working on it, planning it out, and getting papers ready. I have altered plenty of already made journal books, but I really like your ideas about the fabric strips. Thank you for sharing your cleverness and talent. 🙃🍒Shelly
That ledger is AMAZING!!!
That was a great tip abt the microwave to add life to Washi tape. I bought a recipe binder that had tons of recipes cut from newspapers & taped onto paper. Thank you. God bless🌈🙏🌈.
I would love to see more decorated journal pages! I really struggle with finding new ways to make cool pages. Thank you. Love you and Sunny.
Well I am happy happy happy😇 You just made what I need for Prayer Request and Answered Prayer booklet for a purse. I have wasted several try’s to come up with something that would tuck inside a purse and this is perfect. Thank you amazing
LOL. I love your puppy's voice. It fits him...
Hello! Learned something new again. Both my grandmother use to glue newspaper clippings onto things like this too. It was usually ones about family members or church members and friends and their families or important news articles . So cool to read and try and figure out the stories behind them.
You are so fun to llisten to! You said this in 2021 and I'm watching this in 2022 and wow life is even weirder! We wouldn't have believed that life was gonna get weirder and it did!
Goals... find old ledger, get a sewing machine and purchase that glue! I’m new to your channel and I have been deep diving down rabbit holes since!
Videos on using scraps and stuff like this. Small additions to Tailor junk journals or small gifts 👍🏻❤️🤩
Well, you deserve to have you are a fabulous crafter. I also think you have a very good kindness and energy.
Love this idea! And LOVE LOVE LOVE WHEN YOU SHOW US THE OLD BOOKS! Just can’t get that sort of thing here.
Absolutely love that old elongated ledger....Thank you for sharing.
This turned out so cute .the magic paper lady .💙💚💛
Another doable idea for the craft challenged!!!
How interesting! I love the concept that old ledgers were decorated! Beautiful beautiful!
What a find in the ledger from the 1800s! Love the envelope pocket book too! Have ideas swirling...may just go make one now! Thank you!
I like the “stringies” on your envelope booklet.
I will make one of these and add to one of my journals to hold photographs.
Incredible idea!!
I'm going to make this for my flash cards. This will motivate me to study anywhere!
Do love this one for my daughter, it’s so cute❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Love your videos… can’t say how much! But I want to tell you I looked up “rataplan” from that sentence you showed of the book page glued to the journal, a beautifully descriptive word I’d never heard before. It means the sound as of the beat of a drum. Here, it describes the rain. I’ve learned so much and love your sweet spirit; plus, I learned a new word! Great all around! Love your ideas and your voice quality is nice to hear. You do not have upturned terminal sentence sound. So appreciative. Thanks for your intelligence and everything you do to help us all be happy. 🌻
Loved this envelope craft 🙏🕊❤.
Pam! I love to listen to you and watch you! I wish I could do it all day! Love Sonny too! I can’t wait to try this envelope idea. I can’t think of anything new to ask you to do but just keep doing what you are doing! Thank you for sharing all your great ideas!!! 😍
I sure would love to meet you in person. Fun person who always makes me laugh.
I saw someone yesterday that said to store the ink pads upside down to keep the ink toward the top of the pad.
I have to have a heart procedure done Thursday so thank you for keeping my mind occupied hugs
Best wishes! I'm sure things will be fine.
Prayers, late, for you, Brenda.
Hope all is well.
I paused the video to read the recipes (interesting ingredients). I like the envelope booklet/journal.
Thank you for the wonderful class and information today..Have a Beautiful Blessed Day! And Congratulations!!
Eh! You are a fellow Northerner, Canadian!!! All these years of following you and only just found out in this video! Funny you mention the Canadian spelling, lol,. We often travel to the States and of course spelling with "our" or "re," often causes confusion. But it certainly makes us stand out from the crowd. Thank you for sharing your passion for this craft. You have inspired me today and actually solved a gift dilemma I was in. Take care and keep up your wonderful, uplifting work!😊
Excellent project....love the washi on edges. My gosh that ledger is awesome. On the spelling, they did spell a little differently. I have a hand written diary from my husbands g-g-g grandfather written in 1863 while a private in the Civil War. He spelled Tuesday- Tewsday; Friday-Friday, etc. and he was an educated man. It’s so interesting to see how things were different in the past. Hi Sunny ❤️
First timer here....SUPER cute idea....I think I will be binge watching your channel today!
Love your fur-baby at the near end. 💖
Love the envelope storage idea. Thank you for showing the ledger and the history behind it - love looking back in time ~ wish we had Time Machine. 😀💖🦋🌵
This would be a cute idea for a budget folder to sick in your purse
I looooove this. The idea of several envelopes crossed my mind, but never like this!!!! Keep up the wonderful ideas and sharing. So very sweet!
I'm going to glue a small notebook and use this for my grocery list, coupons and receipt holder! Thank you for all your inspiration 🥰
Will definitely try these.
Thank you Pam!
Hi Spongisaurus! That's fantastic! Pam :) !!
Oh, wow! This is so cute! I can think of so many fun uses! 80,000...Congratulations!
I LOVE (and collect) old books. Your ledger find is a treasure as well as a time capsule. Many famous writers originally published their work in segments in magazines and newspapers. You might want to Google any authors who are listed. Thanks for another delightful tutorial! 🦋
So, very cute and functional!!!
I have a friend that is convalescing and I could phrases of encouragement for her!!
Awesome!! ( she was trampled by a cow and has broken bones. No jokes I guess?)
If you ever decide to publish your best ideas....this one HAS TO be included!
i love this idea Pam - will be making a few of these to send out as happy mail - thank you - AND wow what a beautiful ledger - isn't it funny how we remember spelling bees in school - i remember winning having to spell college lol - fun memories - love seeing Sunny - so sweet - thanks Pam - be well and enjoy your day xx
What a treat you are Pam! ❤that ledger you found is awesome!
I love how uplifting you are.
I love this project with the envelopes. I'm going to try it. Thank you Pam for your creative ideas.
Thanks for all your project ideas and wonderful and quick wit! Congratulations on 80K. No easy feat xxxDiane
Sweet! You just saved me from discarding some yard sale washi tape that wouldn't budge! SO trying the nuker tip!! Thank you!!
I would love to see more of smaller junk journals done (mini’s). 💕
@Tiffany Swearingen,
Oooh, read, 'gift card envelope size'! 😱💖😺😺😺
Quick, playful, fun and so sweet . Thank you. Also an awesome gift😀
