- I've been excited to get back to working on the trail. I finally have two entrances to the woods.

Excellent job! Better content on your channels than on any satellite provider, keep up the good work!
Why thank you! Plenty more videos to come.
Fantastic job felling that tricky tree! Another fantastic video, I throughly enjoyed it, thank you! Warmest regards Tom
Thank you, appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to watch.
Very good informative video.👍I'm still watching your previous videos to catch up. 🙂 The trails are very nice and will be great for trail riding when Tiffany gets her horse. 😊
Thank you for watching
Nice job. I had no idea of wedging like that but it worked perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I don’t use anything to sharpen my saws but a correct size file and a file handle. I will use my ms 170 on any tree that I can get it’s bar around. That 3/8P bar and chain cut pretty good but it’s redeeming quality is it’s weight, or lack, thereof. That back cut is called a taper hinge. On small trees use a small wedge. On big trees use a big wedge. I always make my back cut at least bar width deep before I put a wedge in the back. You can also angle the wedge in the back cut to keep it away from your bar. I have nicked the end of my wedges many times on small trees. You better watch fence wire. It will eat up 3/8P chains. My 3/8 LGX chains on my big saws will cut right through wire, nails and staples, even though it will eat up a few cutters.
Wow. GREAT video. Really good information on how to fall a tree in the direction you want it to go. I would have never thought about the angled cut on the holding wood. Also got to give you credit on all the camera angles. Never realized how much extra time that recording can add to your projects until I started doing it myself. Keep up the great work. Have a great day. CJ

Just cut in a trail for tractor on a steep mountain. To me its like a cross between artwork and engineering. Digging with a subcompact is slow but hey. ... I'm retired.
I bought 19 acres a few years ago I see a old logging trail maybe 100 yards ..this fall I'm definitely making my first trail .thanks for the motivation
Thank you for watching
Excellent felling. I bought my 170 today. A mod I'm going to make is to change the chain tensioner from pointing forward to pointing out the right side. Stihl should have made it that way from the start.
Agreed!
Perfect! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Up north here in Michigan, we call that gofer wood...because you’re always going for wood. Great for camp fires though
We've been burning that "gofer" wood like crazy! Even when it's not cold in Florida, it's fantastic to keep the bugs away and make people socialize around the fire pit! Ready for this coronavirus to go away so we can have some cookouts around the firepit!
The Kelley's Country Life. can’t wait to get out of covid jail. Stay safe
That little 170 is a tough ol girl and the price point its at, hits all the right checks on the to do list. I just bought one as well and it's a pretty good light duty saw. Trail looks good man.
Thanks! Yes without a doubt I grab that saw more than any other. It's hard to beat how compact it is and how light weight.
Just bought a 170 today
Enjoy it, I love mine! Keep the chain sharp and it cuts.
I bought a MS170 up in Canada, it was on sale, $199. CA, getting older every day and my other saw MS261 is getting heavy.
I have a ms260 pro and love it. But I still grab the MS170 the most
Excellent educational video.
Do you have a video about the Stihl sharpener product? If not, make a video showing how the sharpening product works! Thanks.
Sure do, it's one of the more popular videos on my channel. czcams.com/video/BZiAlPaeHM0/video.html
Hello from South Africa ! I recently started following your channel after bumping into it with some Stihl MS170 research. Love the channel, keep it up man !! What chain and bar combo are you running on your 170 ?
Thanks for watching and supporting! I run a 16 inch bar with the 3/8 picco chain. I strongly recommend getting the 2 in 1 sharpener for it, makes a big difference in how the saw performs with a very sharp chain. Take care!
@@TKCL thank you for the reply. I am picking up my new MS170 tomorrow, unfortunately they are only available here with 12" bar, have been trying to figure out if it will be worth while to upgrade the bar and chain. I have seen your reviews on the 2 in 1 sharpeners, and have ordered one of them with the saw as well. Will probably run it with the 12" bar then at first. Is the 16" bar also 0.043" or 0.050" ?
Stay with the small chain, the saw does not have enough power to pull a larger one. I really enjoy the 16 inch bar, mainly so I don't have to reach over as far while limbing.
@@TKCL I picked up that 170 today ! Really excited, looking forward to start using it ! I decided to stick with the 12" bar for now, by the time the chain needs replacement, I will probably get a 16" chain and bar to try out. Ordered a metal spike upgrade for the 170 today, along with a 2 in 1 sharpener, as the dealer did not have the right one in stock. Thanx to your review, I knew I needed a 3/8" P and not the standard 3/8" !
Correct! Enjoy that saw, I also purchased the metal "dog" as we call it. Problem is I packed it up when we moved and now I need to find it.
guide rail 30 or 35 cm?
40cm
How do you get the stump out after you fell the tree ?
I don't on those trails, flush cut and let it rot.
Thanks well do thanks 😊
Is that chainsaw good for home?
It's excellent for light duty homeowner use. You'll want a bigger saw if cutting large trees or a lot of firewood.
@@TKCL does it good for short log lumbering
If you mean milling, then no. You need a much more powerful saw for lumber cutting. If just cutting some firewood and small brush, it's perfect
R u allowed to cut woodland or us this your own land
My own personal property, you can not cut on state or federal land here.
giving advice not even wearing chaps I shut off 5min in thx
